Re: Montrose Vs United - Tuesday 14th July (7.45PM)

Results like tonight's don't hurt any as much any more, they're just mildly annoying, we might not make it our the group now, but that'll save us a meek exit to some pish like away Killie on a Tuesday night.

We're pish, we've always been pish, we occasionally be a bit less pish than usual, but it's fleeting, even when we were good we were mostly pish when it came to finals or the business end of the season, just a pile of steamy old tramp's pish.

Once you make peace with yourself that there's no glory to be had, you just appreciate that a Saturday/whatever day the games are is about spending some time with your mates/kids. A pint before or after the game, a chance to have a catch up, or a laugh, the alternative is doing what my Wife would want to do, go shopping or visit people.

It was all sort of half chances though SM. Let's be honest.

Really, really worrying that in 180 minutes of football we never cut either of the teams open even once.

This is totally and utterly on Goodwin too, why the fuck would he start Naamo on that wing instead of giving the young lad a start? Beggars belief! He was probably worried about him tracking back 🤬

Why is this no surprise.
Let's hope it's no an angst ridden year.

Goodwin: I Used to be in favour of keeping him on the basis of no being a fan of revolving door. Now I'm wearying of this annual shite which sets the tone.
Who would you  have.... McGlynn - Look how they're doing.
Ogren will  keep Jim as long as transfer $$ keep rolling in.
Poor results first 3 or 4 games - major shoogly peg Jim.

Honestly no idea

Think Naamo has played every position except the position he was signed to play right back

See if it isn't his decision and it's coming from say Capuano, i still blame Goodwin for not having a pair of bollocks and insisting he'll pick who he wants.

It's an absolutely ridiculous situation.

Ferry has given us two great years and he should be the first name on the team sheet until the day he departs (at which time he should leave with our best wishes). Instead the club are trying to strong-arm him out the door. And bad feeling has crept in unecessarily.

Despite what others have said i have heard Ferry is in no rush to leave United and is happy to wait for the right move. United are pushing this situation, not him.

To put it into perspective, Andy Robertson was the only first team player to play a pre-season friendly up at Forfar the night before he moved to Hull. And that was during a time where we had banks breathing down our necks and were having to ask wealthy supporters for bailouts just to keep the lights on.

Re: Montrose Vs United - Tuesday 14th July (7.45PM)

My player ratings on a dreadful night in the clubs recent history.

Walton 6 - Had nothing to do apart from pick the ball out of the net. Was ok at a couple of set-pieces in terms of collecting the cross.

Rawlins 5 - Crap

Iovu 6 - Quiet

Graham 3 - That should be his last appearance in a United jersey. Not good enough, i'm sad to say. If any bid comes in, take it.

Gilligan 6 - The kid tried hard. Took some good corners.

Sevelj 5 - Started the season poorly for the second year running.

Eskesen 5 - I've defended him for months and insisted 'there is a player in there'. Has been given a chance in the last two games and shown fuck all. The Julius redemption arc ain't happening. He's not built for Scottish football.

Tait 5 - Wants the ball, but so far i have seen little evidence that he actually does anything with it. Disappointing tonight.

Naamo 5 - One of Goodwin's favourites. Has played him in three different positions (RB, LB and RW). Have yet to see him play a good game.

Sapsford 5 - Very poor again. I've said it for months, but i just don't think we're ever seeing 2025 Zac Sapsford ever again. His drop-off in form was blamed on homesickness, Scottish Winter, Bondi beach atrocity, burn-out, loss of confidence. What is the excuse now?

Rose 5 - Fairly confident he'll soon be talked about in the same breath as VDS, Moller and Watters. Goodwin really knows how to pick a dud Striker. Only signed because he runs about and presses. Was nowhere near the ball tonight at anytime.

Subs -

Camara 5 - Offered nothing.

Agyei 5 - Looks fed up.

Leiper 6 - Hardly fed him the ball. He at least showed some urgency unlike the rest of his slow, ponderous team mates.

Metsoko 6 - Was rusty and clearly nowhere near fit, but at least looked like he'd seen a football before and linked up and showed better feet and movement than both Sapsford and Rose.

Forbes 6 - The only slight bright spot on the evening is that he showed up far better than our Captain. Though it's hard to judge how good he is based on the lowly opposition.

It’s pie in the sky, but that result and performance last night, even if it was in isolation (which it isn’t) should have Jim one bad result away from the sack.

Re: Montrose Vs United - Tuesday 14th July (7.45PM)

Thought forbes looked assured and 100 times better than captain disaster.

What i don't understand is why so many times, we had forbes playing the ball into the box. With the greatest of respect to him, precise deliveries are not a centre backs forte.

To not score any goals from open play against a league 1 and a league 2 side is not a good look. Tbf a hybrid of our u21s and first team should be seeing off that level reasonably comfortably.

Players didnt seem to know their positions- often trying to play in the same area. Playing folk out of position didnt help either.

Marked improvement needed really quickly.

Re: Montrose Vs United - Tuesday 14th July (7.45PM)

The time for Goodwin to go was the end of last season at the latest. The fans have almost an equal share in the blame that he’s still here as the board do. Record season ticket sales hardly scream a support that’s fed up with their manager.

Anyone that bought a season ticket for this year needn’t ever utter a single word of complaint about Goodwin or his style of play. You knew fine what you were signing up for, you’ve had three and half years to figure what and who he is as a football manager.

Any ideas who warren cummings works for now? Saw him talking to security outside the game where he was described as a scout.

If folk had held off during the loyalty period and voted with their feet, he’d have been sacked. Instead we had record tickets sales, so why would they sack him?

I’m pissed off but not raging as it comes as no surprise and I kind of expected it. Goodwin has shown time and time again that he can’t set up a team to play against lower league teams who sit back. He doesn’t motivate the players for cup games. It’s a game we needed to win and that he needed to win and we’ve got our best midfielder on the bench and our best player not even in the squad (whether that’s Goodwin’s decision I’m not 100% but he is quoted as saying he’s available for selection).

If he’s available for selection then by christ he better have him fit and raring to go for Saturday.

Agree. We have an absent foreign owner who doesn’t care about the club at all. All he cares about or listens to is money. If the fans are United in an opinion about getting ogren to fuck (the real problem) or getting rid of the manager, withholding money is the only way. I am not convinced a majority of the fans are btw or that the forums are an accurate representation of the fanbase.

Thankfully I’ll be in Engerland on Saturday so will miss the Arbroath game. I will be at The Spartans match as I’m going with my son and 3 grandkids. If we lose to Arbroath and are struggling against Spartans then unfortunately the grandkids are going to hear me screaming for him to get to feck and I really don’t want that.

Not much more I can add to all the other comments- disgrace of a result.  We need to beat Arbroath with a convincing performance on Saturday and we all know how tough that will be.
