I can't imagine why anyone thinks he's going to change. Next season will be more of the same shite if he's still here

I don’t think he’s going to change tbh just trying to stay positive and hope for a miracle.
If i could have him sacked right now i would because i hate this anti football style that he has imposed, it’s never gonna work, but I can’t so might as well hope for the best. Good amount of the fans have made it clear they don’t want him here, I don’t see what else can be done.

Embarrassing thread. He's plotted stealing 6 points off them this season which would have made them easy winners of the league. I've no issue with him being a Celtic fan. I certainly would never stop being a United fan for any job. Test is whether he lies down to them. He hasn't. End of story.
There are many more valid arguments against Goodwin than this one. Petty.

There’s plenty valid arguments I could and have made on here about Goodwin. It’s not about how many points he’s taken off Celtic, you’re completely missing the point. He’s meant to essentially be the leader and face of our football club, and yet he’s going and supporting another club from the same league as us in his downtime. That’s completely unprofessional, and I’m pretty sure no other manager at this level does that. A manager’s role should be all-encompassing, you should embody and the club that you’re supposed to be driving on, not going away following your club’s rival, it’s utterly bizarre.
I wouldn’t like seeing our players doing it, but for our fucking manager to be doing it is incomprehensible in my opinion.

He certainly involved himself and integrated himself with the fanbase a lot more than Jim The Tim does. I was at a number of events organised by the club where Jackie sat down and spoke with the fans. It was only when things turned toxic due to Thompson revealing the details of his contract that he stopped doing them.
I’m sympathetic to this point. He does appear rather detached from the club as an entity. It’s almost as if he sees it as a job to do, then he drives back to East Dunbartonshire to be with his family. If you contrast this with Simo Valikari who lives in Perth and engages with supporters and seems to embrace all aspects of the club.
I do wonder if JG’s lack of immersion in United might have been a reason for our young squad’s poor performance this season? I watched an interview with Rurai Paton recently and he seemed to have a new lease of life under Valikari. My feeling is that dealing with the personal development of young players (especially if they come form overseas) is not one of JG’s strong points. It’s very different from married, senior pros who are Scottish.

I genuinely couldn't care less what Jim does in his spare time. I also think that the all-encompassing approach you are suggesting is probably less of a thing these days in the modern game with managers moving around after normally less than a couple of years. That said, who says that Jim is not knocking his pan in for us and if that were the case I don't think anyone can deny him a bit of downtime with his son doing what most Dad's do, i.e. taking him to see his favourite team. If that team happened to be St Mirren, nobody would be bothered.
I do get that Jim is a bit more distant than other managers re. engagement with fans. I'd like to see him do what the fans do and be more visible at the end of games, but I don't think you can say that he doesn't do that because he's a Celtic fan.

I'd be really interested to know what JGs strong points actually are, because I've yet to witness any

Agree also. Don’t like him doing it. Think it’s unprofessional. The reasons I want him to leave On balance are covered in other threads. It is a bit OTT on Goodwin just now.
Yes, we have been terrible to watch under him. But his record is decent overall. Especially when looking at anyone since early Macnamara. If he leaves I would expect more than a 50/50 chance of a relegation battle. If he stays I expect more turgid football and a similar league showing to this year.

If a marriage is decent overall but then starts to deteriorate and not show any signs of improvement, do you stay together because the first couple of years were nice or do you part ways amicably and both seek happiness elsewhere?
Ive been divorced a couple of times so maybe I'm not the best judge 😋
I will say though, that Jim shagging Celtic behind our backs is not gonna keep the relationship on the rails 😉
