I’m totally scunnered and disconnected with United just now, we’ve undoubtedly had periods a lot worse than this in recent years, plenty of them in fact. But I can’t remember a time other than the covid season (which was more down to the weirdness of the situation than anything else) where I’ve been less interested in United than I am right now.
It’s a fucking thought to even have to go to Tannadice at the moment, and when we’re on tv, I usually end up switching it off after about half an hour cause of how fucking tedious we are to watch.
I’ve got a number of pals who feel the exact same way just now. There’s 6 of us that have season tickets together, and not one one is there tonight, for no other reason than they can’t be fucked with it. We’re not the only ones, going by the crowds in recent weeks.
There’s a number of reasons for this, chiefly the manager and his dire approach to football. He’s done a good job over the piece for us, but he’s overstayed his welcome now. I don’t think it helps when you see teams like Motherwell and Falkirk having managers that can balance winning games with playing a progressive style of football that consists of more than playing for throw-ins and corners.
The players we have are one of the most uninspiring groups I’ve seen. Soft as shite and weak mentally, they make the same mistakes week after week and chuck it at the first sign of adversity.
And we have an owner who’s lost all interest in the club, and has no ambition beyond being also-rans in the league while he claws back the millions he naively pumped in at the behest of Tony Asghar.
If things remain like this, I doubt I’ll bother renewing my season ticket next year. Not out of spite or anger at the club, just purely because I’m losing interest in them fast and could be doing with spending my Saturday’s doing something more enjoyable, like visiting a cemetery or something along those lines. I doubt I’ll be the only one either.

Said it for a while. The club has stalled. Nothing but midtable obscurity awaits. Season has been written off before Febraury. I dont see us top 6, dont see us any lower than 9th this season.
The big problem is that this all stems from the man at the top. A man sitting in Minnisota, with his head so far up his fucking arse, he spunked more money than he had to because he listened to the Fat Controller for too long, despite many fans warning him, myself included in a SLG meeting.
He wants to sell the club, but he has to be realistic, unless a United fan wins the Euromillions, he ain't getting £13m in a winner. For the club to move forward, and for him to reap his investment back, he needs to sell shares in parts, and there are interested investors out there that would happily buy 10%, 20% shares and invest money into the club.
No feel good factor at Tannadice this season. That was lost after the Rapid Vienna game.

Totally feel your pain.
Gave up ST after the last pathetically meek relegation. Went to plenty of games last season been to 3 this season as it is utter pish.
A horrendous standard of football stubbornly enforced by a negative fuckwit.
Shitebag players who are getting punted half a season in.
A penny pinching halfwit owner who is basically a yank Stephen Thompson on
steroids.
A CEO (do me a favour 😳) who completely escapes being part of the Asghar shitshow for some reason.
Academy producing nothing, and if they are good their away to an English reserve squad for peanuts.
Even the pitch is now a fucking disgrace. Yes there's been plenty of rain but it should not be in that bad a state.
If the standards are that low for the 6th biggest club in Scotland and that's just the way of it then why even bother anymore...

Great points. I cant understand why our owner thinks witholding dosh is going to benefit his investment? Ogren is a fucking tit. Time for the fans to vote with their feet and withold season ticket money for next season, fans stop going to games. Demand answers. I get the debate, I really do, but if we had a coach that had the team playing football and getting results I seriously doubt Ogren gets much of a mention.
It's the coach that's stagnating the club not the owner.

Yes Jim is to blame, however the club lacks any leadership and direction, that comes from the man at the top.

Totally agree with this and I'm sure there will be a big wake up call for the idiots in charge next season if nothing changes (which it won't). It's the only language they understand.
But for now Ogren will continue being an ostrich as he got the record ST sales and will pocket a no doubt derisory transfer fee for Ferry.

I said at the time that we’d be suffering the Asghar period for years. Last year was a blip. This is the norm. I do think Goodwin has more good than bad, but he does seem to now be doubling down on an approach that isn’t working. Ultimately ticket sales will talk.
Goodwin must realise he’s losing the crowd. I don’t see him turning that round long term, but I fear letting the Yank pick the next one.
Ultimately this is Ogren’s shitshow. He’s not getting anything like his money back though so the reality is if we don’t support the team financially we’ll go bust and that will be that.

What football is to me has massively changed, St Johnstone Cup final that group of players never delivered at trophy against Frazer Wright, Stephen Anderson etc. Shite.
Then Eddie's teaboy fucking us over with the double sale to Celtic.
Those two incidents killed a lot of hope, joy and love of what football meant/means to me.
3 hours prior to kick off v Rapid at home, i was holding my first Grandchild for the first time, abody walking out the ground on a downer, i was buzzing.
Im a bit fed up, but the reality is we've always been mostly mediocre in my lifetime, bar a spell late in the 70's through to mid/late 80's.
Flirted with decent in a few periods. Offered some hope but really 5 trophies since 1909 is pretty pathetic.
I'll always buy a season ticket, it's just what I do, but it's now mostly a 14:30 -17:30 Saturday experience, rarely do away games, and by the time I'm home from Tannadice any anger is usually gone.
My missus used to check the scores to see what mood i'd be in and whether Saturday night/Sunday was a write off, now unless she asks or checks she'd never know the result based on my mood.
Once you accept that it's eleven guys who see it as no more than a job, will never give as much of a fuck as you, you can relax, we never win cups, we'll never challenge for the title and if we make Europe, we come in at such an early stage we'll never progress.
No point getting ulcers over it.

I have never felt more down about Dundee United than i currently do.
It's not even about the defeats or bad performances. Christ, we've all seen thousands of them.
I was there as a season ticket holder in the grim old days of the early 2000's when one year we only won something ridiculous like 3 games at Tannadice in a calendar year.
The difference then was that there was hope. Hope that the club could get better. Hope that the people in charge like Edddie Thompson had the best interests of the club at heart and that he wouldn't stop until we evolved into the type of club we all wanted.
There was always ambition running through the heartbeat of the club, even if at the times the pulse was weak.
Right now? I feel the club lacks all ambition. Happy just to 'plod along' and be also-ran's in a league we are (by a distance) the 6th biggest in by every metric. Any 'success' a happy anomaly rather than the fruits of ambition and a dedication for the club to be in pursuit of excellence.
We have a dour, negative Manager who is holding good players back (just as he did at Aberdeen).
We have an ageing stadium that is in much need of improvement or even a plan for it's future. The only parts of the stadium vastly improved in recent years were done so purely to make more money via hospitality. The concourses of the stadium filthy as is the outside facade of the George Fox.
A woefully poor pitch that looks threadbare and a mudbath. Meanwhile over the road the pitch is excellent due to the groundstaff that they poached from us.
We have an Academy that inspires none of the fanbase because the odd gem that pops up is sold for buttons before we ever see them in tangerine and black.
And worst of all we have a disinterested, absentee owner who has run the club debt up to farcical levels and is now as a consequence massively holding the club back, whilst other clubs like Hearts, Hibs, St,Mirren, Motherwell, Falkirk seem to be going places.
Even Dundee have more ambition than us. I hate to say that, but they do.
People laugh at their (possibly futile) attempts to move to this new stadia in Camperdown, but at least they are trying something positive for the club and don't want them to stay stagnant. They have also tried to forge partnerships with teams from Mexico and England (the Burnley link up bore some decent fruit).
They don't seem to want the club to stand still.
Can we honestly say the same about the current incumbents at Tannadice? There seems radio silence from Ogren, Capuano et al.
Time for the various fan groups to start communication imo.

I get a lot of these comments and understand them.
I do think that the club needs a reset and new ownership. That’s easier said than done though- where are the buyers coming from?
Re the football. For me the reason the football is dire to watch mostly is not just a Goodwin thing.
Pretty much every game I watch now is dire - regardless of what level.
Why? Robotic players coached by robotic coaches using stats as their guid on how to play the game. Fear of losing possession - pass pass pass. No individuals.
You can’t tackle now. You can’t accidently stand on an opposition payers foot (see Fatah last night).
VAR analyzing minutia - the game being run by geeks who have never kicked a ball.
I’ve had a season ticket since 1989, no longer live in Dundee so every game is an away game for me- I’ll keep going. Will be there on Wednesday at Easter Road.
Why? Because despite what I’ve just said above my love for Untied trumps all that. If we were in League 2 I’d still be going. Would much rather be there than sat in the house, espeicallly at this time of year. Like Mr Blunkett, I don’t get upset if we get beat now - that’s an age thing though, there are more important things to get upset about in life.
But I totally get how folk feel at the moment.

6 wins from 26 is not good enough.
But the end of the season is the time for any meltdowns.
We should be looking very nervously over our shoulders. Fans turning their backs on the team could easily lead to a downward spiral to the 2nd tier again. It's turning into an awful season but it could get worse. Unless JG loses to.Spartants ( a real possibility) he is here until May

I don’t think anyone’s having a meltdown mate. I personally am just totally fed up watching them every week, and often find myself thinking there’s something better I could be doing with my time. There’s a lot of people I know that feel the exact same way, and going by this thread, and the dwindling crowds, it’s a feeling that’s spreading rapidly throughout the fanbase. Totally apathetic towards them.
If the club don’t get a lid on it, they’ll lose a lot of season ticket sales next year. And by get a lid on it, they can start by getting rid of the manager. I maintain that Goodwin’s mostly done a good job in his time here, he’d go with my thanks, and no ill will in his direction. But his time here has run its course.
This brand of terrorist-ball he has us playing is absolutely atrocious to watch and has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He’s clearly not for changing, but it doesn’t mean I, or many other have to continue paying for the privilege of being subjected to it every week..

The precarious position of our club absolutely is down to Asghar and Ogren. We are only able to bring in boys who are a gamble because they’ve frittered away any cash we have had.
As I have said above, Goodwin needs to listen to the crowd, but to blame him for the state of the club is nonsense.

He’s not to blame for the state of the club. That’s on Ogren.

Agree with a lot of above.
Tim two started it for me.
Ogren has no interest and is deliberately running us as a financial transaction. He has no interest in the club at all. That is the route of the problem for me. It existed long before Goodwin. As did my growing feeling of apathy.
Godwin’s style makes it difficult to watch. My biggest problem under him is the waves of foreigners leaving after a year or 2. Our young boys not getting a chance and leaving before they even play. Charlie dewar latest to be linked with crystal palace this morning. This creates a disconnect from the players who are here for money and a chance to move on as quickly as they can. No feeling or love for the club whatsoever.
