Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

First goal, Strain didn’t follow in on his man.

But after the first red card (Fatah’s still a young lad, was too slow going in) we had an uphill struggle.

The penalty softer than the mud on the Jerry Kerr touchline. We weren’t going to get it.

As for Camara’s as soon as Lennon hits the ground it was a red.

Positives Keeper, well done! Farmugia looks a player is in there. Rest of the team weren’t bad

Sh1t happens.

We regroup for the next match, at least we’ll no face Hearts in the cup 🤪🤣

Opinions are what make football interesting and I agree the defending on the goal line could be better. I'd just ask you to look again and again where Strain is beaten. His starting position is so high he has nowhere to go.
That's him being asked to play as a wing back.

I’ve said Strain is to blame.  CH is supposed to go out to him in that formation and is a wee bit unlucky not to make the block, but I’ve no idea what Graham is thinking. I just don’t see that as a 3 at the back formation issue.

Finn I'll try one more time!
Look at Strains starting position when he's beaten, he's nearly up at the halfway line. If you ask a decent fullback to play right back in a flat 4 there's no chance he's leaving that space in behind him for a winger to run into.
Anyway that's it from me I've said my bit

Aye I don’t think we are going to agree on this. Strain is high, but doesn’t do his job. CH covers across as is his job in that formation and is a bit unlucky. Graham has a brain fart and stops and lets the ball across him when he should continue to the bye line and block it.  If it’s a flat back four it might have been different but it might not have if Strain and Graham fail to do their job.

There is more mileage in arguing 343 leaves us too light in the middle. With our squad I’d be playing 352 against better opposition.

Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

Having watched it back post game, Fatah shouldn't be a red, Camara whilst a bit daft doesn't headbutt the guy, he's been naive, but I agree with Goodwin's take.

The penalty, there's contact, but its a scruff of legs, soft but i'm claiming for it at the other end.

We don't have a football man on the board, or in a position of power, so whilst I wouldn't cry if Goodwin is emptied I can't see it happening, especially if we're making signings for next season.

Fuck Hearts, i hope they blow it in the most heartbreaking of situations, again.

On the positive side, was impressed with the keeper and Farrugia showed sone nice touches, coming on in a difficult situation.

Anyone know if the Hearts guy went to A&E or straight to surgery with his smashed ankle and broken nose in the reds?

Bowl haircuttted, combed forward, hiding his baldy receeding hairline cunt.

Can’t argue with any of that!  Even Michael Stewart questioned the reds.

Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

Actually looking at the pen, Strain pulls out the challenge but his knee scruffs Braga who massively exaggerates the level of contact.

You'll see, in say, the next two league games, maybe today, probably, possibly, a similar incident, and a pen won't be given and they'll justify it by not being enough contact to warrant going down.

Like a pen Aberdeen never got last week for a pull, because the pull wasn't for long enough.

Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

Both red cards a joke as was the penalty. Yes, they may all technically be the correct decisions, but fuck me if that's the way the games going then i genuinely feel like stop watching it. What is the fucking point?

Feels like the ref couldn't wait to give every decision against us.

I do feel the red cards get Goodwin 'off the hook' some what though. It's all anyone is talking about now regards the game.

The fact is we were already one nil down and looking toothless upfront even before the game went South.

This feels similarly like the end of Goodwin's time at Aberdeen. When one bad defeat (our Derby defeat) sent the club spiralling and culminated in a shocking loss in the Cup to minnows and a drubbing away to Hibs. Looking at our next two fixtures i fear deja vu (in reverse).

There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between him and the players.

Players who started the season on fire like Kucherencko, Dolcek, Watters and Esselink now all either away or as good as.

Talented players like Keresztes, Luca, Sapsford and Fatah looking a shadow of themselves. Even Camara has been poor in recent times. It all very much feels like a squad that is fed up.

Just as Aberdeen players seemed similarly depressed and rudderless in those last few games of Goodwin's spell in Aberdeen, and they had some very good players in their arsenal at the time btw (Joe Lewis, Liam Scales, Connor Barron, Bojan Miovski, Ylber Ramadani, Johnny Hayes, Duk etc).

It feels like the season is going to peter out fast and there is also the fear that if today's win sparks Kilmarnock then we could well get drawn into a relegation dogfight, as it currently feels hards to see where the next win comes from.

Only 3 Tannadice league wins this season so far. For context we had 4 at this same point in the season in the disastrous Ross/Fox season.

Grim times.

Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

Something that really resonated with me was just a small thing that many fans missed and few commented on.
In his pre match press conference before the last Derby Jim Goodwin was asked about the players motivation for a Dundee derby.
To my utter disbelief he replied that the players didn't need motivating for the game because they knew what it meant.

When I heard that I thought Ferguson McLean Shankly Wenger Mourinho and 100 of the best coaches you could name.
Every one of them would never say that.
They would say come kick off time the players will be ready.
And by hell in that dressing room they would be banging the walls riling those players up with the meaning of a derby win and those players would come out ready to run through brick walls for a victory.

What did we get instead? Twice.

Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

If that’s a red for Fatah then let’s just stop playing football.

Anybody who has played football at any kind of level knows there was ZERO intent there.

Who are these geeks ruining our game?

Once wee were down to 10 we were always going to struggle.

Though Farrugia looked decent although he kept hold of the ball too long a few times after doing some good work initially.

Keeper had some good saves too, kicking a bit suspect at times though.

Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

Kent we were'na gonna win the gehm, but the manner oe the loss was a phuckin shambles.

Huvna looked at any highlights, and nae intentions to.

Played well in the 1st 10 mins. Trapper and Luca and Strain put 3 crosses into the box within a minute in the 1st 5 mins that come to nothing, but Trapper wasted another chance putting the ba our the by-line. And Strain goes and does exactly the same on the right.

Herts put a cross in and we're up the sh1t creek. Strain shoulda tackled the boy. And WTF was Ross Graham dae'in - sleepwalking.

That Ref apparently has only ever done 3 Premiership gehms before. Couldna Ref a gehm oe Subbuteo. Chunt ruined the gehm.

1st Red ? Fatah was daft putting his fut in like that. But that was harsh. (Tangerine tinted specs on)

Was the mystery Penalty even a free-kick. (Tangerine specs on again) Of course once he gees it, it stands. Then VAR says it's in the box, then we're phucked. If only Strain had tackled the boyo for the 1st goal like that.

Camara didna touch the chunts pus, but the Ref musta saw the intent.

I thought we actuality played better in the 2nd half we 10 than we did in the 1st half esp. we Zac coming on.

To jump on the bandwagon, seems obvious to lots of fowk that when you're playing any oe the teams at the tap, you're at a clear disadvantage. It's as if, they want all the drama of the tap teams that are title hopefuls to go on for as long as possible, for their big finale. And everybody else can go hang.

Canna see us getting 6th spot now. The teams below us, including the BNBs are closer to us than we are to Falkirk.

MOTM Ferry.

Re: United vs Hearts - Saturday 31st January 8PM

After a while to think about what happened yesterday.

1. The first time Hearts were in our box they scored
2 AMB first two touches of the ball for the club were to pick the ball out of the net
3. Hearts knew Strains lack of pace was the weak of our defence and targetted him repeatedly.
4. SCH , Graham, KK & Ferry were all doing well in their individual battles, 10 men changes the dynamic of the game.
5. Trapanovski looked dangerous ( first time for a while.
6.Overall though we lose the battle in CM almost every week as its usually a 3 on 2 battle in there.
7. We don't have a decent C.F. Moller not as bad as as he is made out to be but pretty poor. Watters looks to be a bit like Dolcek- can't really be bothered
Sapsford is a 2nd striker not a CF, + he was anonymous when he came on yesterday.

If Hearts win the league they may well be the poorest team ive seen to win it.
I feel that if we had kept 11 on the park we could have made that game very interesting
