Been saying it for weeks what does Ryan Strain bring to this team? Nothing!! Been shite for weeks maybe even months

 
He's possibly the most average/poor right back we've had in years.

Occasionally gets it right going forward, eg v Ayr United but more often than not doesn't- eg tonight when sent away with a glorious diagonal from Ferry, an attacking opportunity he miscontrolled which eventually ended up with a pass back to our goalie.
Terrible defensively, spatial wareness zero.

343 abandoned  because we’re down to 10 men from the dodgiest of red cards. Should he have gone 333?  fud.

We’ve lost another soft goal because Graham can’t defend and they’ve got a pen that was a foul the other way.

Not sure how any of that is Goodwins fault…

 
They got in behind Strain because of his high position in a 343.

United full backs of old playing in a back 4 don't leave that space in behind.

We have some good players but Goodwin isn't getting the best out of them
And the empty spaces in the GF tell that story.

 
I’m not saying I like the 343, but the change isn’t a concession that it’s wrong. All to do with the red card. For me it’s not Strain’s starting position that’s the issue. It’s because he is shite.  But even then, Graham should be cutting out the cross.

I’ll give you the spaces, but even then 8pm on a Saturday night is a stupid time to play football

I get that the breaks went against us but the arrogant belief that 343 is working cost us the first goal.
Our midfield 2 of Stephenson and Sibbald were completely outplayed before things went wrong for us.

This guy is not a coach. He is not making our players better. He's making them worse as a collective.
He needs to go before the season ends so that a real coach can take over.

I hate that it's a red card but can you blame the player for trying to gain an advantage for his team? I'll be surprised if we see Camara play for united again while Goodwin is manager. He leaned into him and it was a push that put the player on the ground. The ref was always giving it. I think there's an argument to say that those decisions aren't given if they're committed against United (exhibit 1 the tackle on Ferry at Celtic park) but this is where we are. The players should have collectively made a bee line for the ref at full time, accept the fine at this point. We're getting one anyway for the 3 red cards, and we're on the wrong end of decisions most weeks anyway. Can it get worse?

I just don’t see how you can lay that at Goodwin’s door. I’d query his team selection, but I don’t see that 343 cost us that first goal. What happened after the red is irrelevant to the formation.

 
Opinions are what make football interesting and I agree the defending on the goal line could be better. I'd just ask you to look again and again where Strain is beaten. His starting position is so high he has nowhere to go.
That's him being asked to play as a wing back.

I’ve said Strain is to blame.  CH is supposed to go out to him in that formation and is a wee bit unlucky not to make the block, but I’ve no idea what Graham is thinking. I just don’t see that as a 3 at the back formation issue.
