I'd go -

.................Richards..................
.....Iovu...Esselink...Keresztes
Sevelj..Camara..Stephenson..Ferry
...Dolcek....Sapsford...Fatah...

Subs - Kucherencko, Graham, Naamo, Sibbald, Watters
Moller, Trapanovski, Stirton, Eskesen

Re: Livingston vs United - Tuesday 30th December (7.45PM)

Same team as TEK, with naamo at right wing back.

Vicko has played a lot of games and it could be good to have him rested for the derby.

Give Stirton an opportunity off the bench ahead of moller.

That's a fair point Kiwi, and i'd be alright with that. Just found it hard to drop Vicko after his last 2-3 games.

1 million % with you on giving Stirton a chance ahead of Moller (or Watters tbh).

Said the same on Saturday night, start Stirton and bring on moller or vice versa.

Re: Livingston vs United - Tuesday 30th December (7.45PM)

Does anyone really, honestly see Stirton as the type of striker who can hold the ball up? I dont. He's scored a couple yeah but has the first touch of a drunken donkey in my opinion.  I think folk are just clouded by the fact that he's one of our own .
I just don't imagine we'll be a better team with him leading the line. Just my opinion of course

I don't agree but opinions is opinions. Thought Stirton when played has brought others into play, something Watters and Moller struggle with and has good positional sense in the 18 yard box.

Certainly playing Stirton or Sapsford through the middle would be a statement from our manager that we intend to play football instead of hoofball so I for one would be in favour.

Re: Livingston vs United - Tuesday 30th December (7.45PM)

I get that some people think Stirton is still a bit raw, but the fact is that he's scored 2 more goals than VDS and Moller combined in less than half the games that they've played.

The only way he'll improve is by playing - and I don't see why persisting with Moller as the go to striker sub is benefitting anyone.  By all accounts so far, the guys got the scoring capabilities of a fridge.

Stirton is definitely worth a try as it’s hard to see him being much worse than the other 2.

We haven't won a game outside of the city of Dundee since Una Strassen in July, it's now late December.

I can't believe anyone is against trying something different

Has anyone heard if Camara is training?
Could definitely do with him for the Derby if not for this one.

It's not good reading. You could look at the positives though and say we've only lost 2/9 away games.
Failing to beat Killie, Livingston & Falkirk at home has been the worst stat of the season so far.

Im not against Stirton coming off the bench as opposed to Moller, everything is worth trying tbh. But I still see Watters as the guy to score more goals than the other two. I think he does contribute and holds the ball up well but also has already shown he knows the way to goal. We have to let him have a run of games to get back to that level,if he can manage to stay fit of course.

Holds the ball up well?
You have to be joking ADS
That would be like saying Moller usually finds a teammate with a header.

Moller has had a couple of assists and would have a couple more but for poor finishes, hes also had attempts at goal that you never got from VDS. Watters has not been the worst player on the park either. We all see things differently I suppose. But for me Watters proved his ability earlier in the season and people have short memories, he needs a few games to get back to that level is all. I can't remember which game it was but we scored a goal that wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for Watters fighting for the ball out wide and winning it back.

Word on the pavement is Stirton and Sam Harding both starting tomorrow night, lets hope I'm miles off the mark and Stirton bangs in a hat trick!

If they both start at Livi it would seem to prove that JG is reading the Forum.

Two weeks ago on the forum there was heavy criticism of the Sports science team immediately followed by Goodwin defending the Sports Science team in a Press Conference.
It would be some coincidence if he suddenly decided to start two players all the fans are talking about getting a raw deal.

I'm all for it.

Imagine the Dundee United manager taking advice from a fucking nut job like me! 🤣🤣

Btw I absolutely want to be wrong about Stirton and hope he shuts my puss firmly tonight!

Re: Livingston vs United - Tuesday 30th December (7.45PM)

It’s more likely that he’s trying to protect Watters from injury especially since it’s the derby in a few days time.

You think Goodwin reads tekel and makes his team selection based on the neeps on here (i'm one of them).

I'll give you the media team keep an eye on general opinion on things and feed back...but think thats the extent of it, surely

Richards keeps the gloves with Stirton and SCH starting.

Pan on bench which is great, hopefully fully fit for Saturday.

Fingers crossed SCH can cement his place tonight. Big Bert isn't giving me confidence at all.
