Really enjoyed that match today. Thought United played very well and that was probably the best we've played since Rapid away.

Defence excellent.

Midfield industrious.

Forwards, tricky and full of running.

What made me happier than anything was that the players seemed to play with a bit of belief again. We played our game, our way, rather than get bogged down with what the opposition were going to do.

We also done 'the basics' well today.

My player ratings -

Kucherenko 7 - Thought he had a good game today and done everything calmly and efficiently.

Stephenson 8 - Excellent headed goal. Becoming a bit of a goal machine in his 2nd spell at the club.

Iovu 8 - Very solid display from big Iurie today. Played some good long passes.

Esselink 8 - Solid stuff from big Bert today. Led the back line very well.

Kerezstes 8 - Very good performance. One outstanding challenge to win the ball deep in the opposition half. Booked for it. Scottish referee's in a nutshell.

Naamo 7 - Feared the worst when i seen him at LWB, but i thought he done just fine. Stuck to his basics well and made sure no crosses got in or got caught out of position. Considering he played out of position, that was a very decent first start for the club. Showed me he has a bit of versatility.

Camara 8 - Best midfielder on the pitch. Just a joy to watch him in a United shirt most weeks. Missed a good chance to score after a brilliant one two. Feel like a goal is coming from him before too long.

Sevelj 7 - More like it from Vicko today. Game turned into a bit if a battle and he got stuck in as much as anyone else.

Dolcek 6 - I've seen a few praise the front three (including Goodwin himself), i however was a little bit disappointed in Ivan again today. Wasn't seen much as an attacking threat and not sure he done his case for a starting jersey much good with other players knocking at the door.

Sapsford 8 - Back to his best today. Was a pest all day long and caused Hearts all sorts of problems. Very fine margins between him scoring a couple today and assisting another.

Fatah 8 - Thought he was excellent today. An absolute dream of a pinpoint cross for Luca's goal. Very unlucky not to get his first goal from open play. He's getting better by the week.

Think dolcek is normally always quiet but is always a threat, played two brilliant balls through to sapsford who on another day could have had a goal and a assist

That has to be the front 3 going forward- with trap moller and striton coming off the bench

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Decent performance. Maybe unlucky not to win.

Clear pattern of us playing well against the bigger teams who come on to us and will have more possession. We seem happier to play counter attack. Bar Motherwell where we just played pish.

We need to find a system that works against the smaller teams who are not worried about possession, will kick us about, break up the play especially on transitions, and go a lot more direct at times.

The differences in performance V rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts & Hibs Vs home games against  Livi, Killy, St Mirren etc are obvious.

Surely to fuck a manager should be able to figure that out? He's had long enough to get a system in place for this type of game, don't know why he needs 45 minutes of playing utter shite before having to change everything round . Perfect opportunity against Falkirk to get it right from the beginning, over to you Jim!

Indeed. I like Jim. Think most of us do. Want him to do well. But we can’t keep getting schooled at home by teams at the bottom on the league. Falkirk interesting as they do actually play decent football and attack.

Argument to be made that we really could’ve, and should’ve had away wins at Tynecastle, Easter Road & Ibrox.

Very true but is also part of the exact point we are making.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Games at home against Livi Falkirk & Killie are entirely different from away matches in Glasgow & Edinburgh.
Jim has signed players to soak it up and hot on the break.
It's not about the system we don't have the players to break down teams at home.

Camara Sibbald & Sevelj are all more effective away from home.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Seek that we had the ba in the back oe the Herts net 4 times, but never got the winner.

Even if Zac had only been on-side for just the 1. Maks ye greet.

But to get a point awa against them is a good point. Coulda been a lot lot worse.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Thought we matched them all the way and could have won, looked much more like the team that we saw in the first 4 or 5 games of the season.   Ivan looking more like his old self.
