What would be your starting XI and formation for Saturday?

I'd sacrifice one of the front 3 and add Sibbald into the midfield battle.
Maybe Fatah, but reassure him it's tactical due to the nature of the opposition.

50mph winds forecast on Saturday.

Sibbald in.
Moller in.
Reassurances for Fatah ? No, tell him tae tougen up.
Edit - if we do get 50mph winds Mollers a good option - threat in the hair long high balls one half, threat under hanging ba intae the wind, good on the deck either way. Don't think we'll beat Livi with neat fitba, especially in high winds.

If we're talking about launching high balls and 50mph winds I'm not really seeing the point of an extra man in midfield? A not terribly tall one at that

Why would you play a high ball in high winds? Sounds more like something Robbie Neilson would do.

Yeah take your point re into the wind.
Wind behind you, if it does turn out to be 50mph it'll get used allright.
On the deck, always better percentage football agreed but this is Livi we're playing and all to often shit teams will draw you down to their level. No to mention if it turns out to be Gayfield type weather even low ba's can be unplayable.
I mind a game I got roped into playing goalie, howling gale off the sea - bad move. So I'm taking goal kick, trying to hit one of our guys 20yards out, concentrating on keeping it low, wind picks the ball up -out for a corner. Think in those days your full back wasnae allowed to come and stand next you.
Wait're we see what the weather does anyway, mebbe never happen.

I'm struggling to think of a game at Tannadice that's ever been cancelled because of wind.
The world has gone H&S mad so you never no.
Kuucerenko
Kereztes Esselink lovu
Strain Sevelj Stephenson Camara Ferry
Moller Sapsford
Offline
I think if the game was called off it would not be due to H&S, but because playing football in 50-60mph wind would be a farce?

I've seen many games played in a howling gale that were a farce. The Authorities don't usually cancel games for that.
We've all been to Gayfield

It’s not quite 50mph winds but it’ll still be difficult out on the pitch. Livi are a stuffy team and will sit 10 behind the ball. I’ll take any win.

Tells you all you need to know when Jim makes his first subbie after 22 mins and another 2 at halftime and the conditions weren’t that bad. He was correct in saying we were better 2nd half but 1point against Livie at home isn’t good enough.
4 points from a possible 9 at home!

JG has to find a formation that allows him to get 3CMs in his team
Until he made the change we were getting dominated in that area just as we were last week until we made the changes.
Overall it was another reality check for anyone who was getting carried away.
Personally with what I've seen so far I will be happy to stay away from the bottom two spots this season

Not blaming the fans in anyway shape or form, but i'd rather we were a bit more vocal in backing the team.
I'd take that over the tifos every week (which offer nothing really).

Said the same in an earlier post on this thread.
2 in midfield is absolutely killing us against opponents who know how to exploit that.
I thought we were terrible again today. No doubt there will be some who disagree, but we couldn't pass the ball, we couldn't link up well, we couldn't create clear chances.
Defenders were nervy, midfield 2 was out fought and attackers were disjointed.
Not happy with that.

A disappointing result.
We really struggled defending against the wind in the 1st half. Esselink's mistake for their goal horrendous, but i'll give him a by, he's been a rock all season and it is his first bad error.
We have no divine right to think we can just turn up at Tannadice and win against teams like Killie and Livi, who are both dogged teams who work hard, fight and are also organised.
Credit to the players for fighting back to get the draw, i felt we probably deserved to win it in the end, whilst nowhere near our best, but just not clinical enough in the final third for the second week running.
My Player Ratings -
Kucherenko 6/10 - Didn't have much to do. Palmed a couple of shots away in to a dangerous area however and luckily got away with it.
Iovu 6/10 - The fall guy due to us making the early tactical change. We were then subsequently all over the place for the next 15 minutes in which time Livi scored and could have scored more.
Esselink 6/10 - A tough day for big Bert due to the wind and conditions. He looked pretty devastated with his mistake. Thought he rallied well in the 2nd half.
Keresztes 8/10 - Our best Defender and possibly our best player, full stop. One outstanding challenge when Livi were in to score, some great runs out of defence, some great long passing and the icing on the cake was his first goal for the club which earned us our point. What a find this guy is, absolutely strolls it every week like Gordan Petric used to.
Luca - 6/10 - Fairly quiet afternoon from Luca.
Ferry 7/10 - I don't think i've known a player like Will Ferry. He impresses me and frustrates me in equal measure, sometimes at various points in the same match. Great energy and drive to get us forward at various points, but his final delivery all too often let him down today. His first goal for the club still alludes him too.
Camara - 6/10 - Struggled in that 1st half, but perhaps harsh to sub him at half time or was he injured?
Sevelj 8/10 - Tough first half, but felt he played really well 2nd half, showed leadership and got stuck in. Nearly scored a fantastic solo effort that would have won him 'Goal of the Season'. Should have scored with his header at the back post from the corner just before half time.
Dolcek 6/10 - Back to back poor games for Dolcek, but i was amazed he got subbed off at half time. Surely you give your biggest goal threat ten minutes to see how he starts the 2nd half.
Moller 6/10 - Gotta be honest i'm pretty disappointed with his full debut. Yes, he never had much service at all, but i felt his movement off the ball was pretty poor tbh and he was quite static and always rooted near a defender when the ball came into the box. This was one trait Van Der Sande had last season that drove me nuts. Ironically the one great delivery we played in the 2nd half happened when he was off the pitch. Expect a bit more from him though, both off and on the ball. Needs a goal soon.
Sapsford 6/10 - Similar to Dolcek, he's just not been at the races the past 2 weekends. Never chucked the towel in and kept trying, but nothing came off for him. Only really ran at Livi once or twice in the whole match. Which is the strongest part of his game. Disappointing stuff.
Subs -
Eskesen 5/10 - Sorry, but i just don't get what he brings to the table. I thought the tactical sub after 20 was slightly reactionary, but if we were gonna sacrifice a defender for a midfielder and change our shape, then Sibbald was the man to bring on, certainly not Eskesen. He played around 70 minutes today and done the square root off fuck all. I just don't get this signing, supposed to be a No.10, hasn't looked like one, and it's not really a position we utilise in this team anyway.
Fatah 7/10 - Looked bright in the 2nd half. Atrocious free kick effort, but that aside he tried to get us going. Had a couple of chances but not out and out gilt edged one's tbf. Another who needs a goal soon to really get him going.
Naamo - 5/10 - Did he even touch the ball? Another one i'm not sure of (yet). Thought it was a pretty pointless sub tbh.
Sibbald 6/10 - Steady enough.
Trapanovski - 6/10 - Decent cameo considering it was his first time kicking a ball since July. Put in our one great cross of the day, but unfortunately the man he replaced (Moller) wasn't on the pitch to benefit from it.

Pish again. Quite worrying. Think weather played a part as the game clearly favoured the team with the wind.
One positive is Jim trying to change it early as it wasn’t working. Sounded like a continuation of Killy game. All managers need to be flexible. Aberdeen and Rangers good examples of where stubborn, rigid managers get you. Last 2 games have been against teams set up to frustrate us and exploit the weaknesses in our preferred system and in both it has largely worked.
I am actually quite hopeful going to Ibrox next. They are not playing well and we do seem to be better this season counter attacking rather than making the play.

Let’s hope that their manager doesn’t get the sack during the international break then.

Game of 2 halves against the rent boys was it no.
1st half we were loupin. Jist a repeat or last week.Ye'd think it was Celtic we were playing against fir some oe 1st half. Wind phucked up the hoofball attempts.
The goal came fae a simple spur oe the moment mistake. Esselink slips on his erse but nae chunt was near Pittman !
But it was ah set up nicely beh the daft GF lino chunt wha made twa fatal mistakes, ane right efter another right before it. (fatal fir us Eh might add).
Luca had the ba on the sideline jist at the half-weh line. He kept it in - it was right in front of me. GF lino chunt flags a throw-in fir Livi.
Efter the throw-in, the ba goes doon the wing towards the Livi goal. Aboot 12 far the by-line, a LIVI player kicks the the ba oot oe play. The GF lino chunt gees the throw to Livi.....
2nd half we were far better. Cheenges at half-time made a difference. Then another improvement when Trapper came on.
Seek that we only get 4 points fae 9 at hame as BMT says.
MOTM fir me Ferry.

Both linesman and the referee were brutal yesterday. The george fox one gets the throw in just before their goal wrong which Billy described.
The one on the other side, when vicko had his run and shot saved, which would have been a brilliant goal, the ball clearly spun out for our corner and he gives a throw in.
As for the ref, he is supposed to be in charge of the game, he just left Stevie May do whatever he wanted. Knocking boys over an advertising board in first minute, lying on the park injured for about 3 minutes, and standing in the box at our goal kicks.
Then, he blows for full time on 93.59 when there are four minutes of stoppage time and livi wasted about two of these. FFS.

He couldn't wait to blow that whistle btw.
