Krisztian Keresztes apparently. Plays for a team in Hungarian too flight who I'm not even going to attempt to spell.
Loan of permanent?
We're going to be top heavy with centre halfs.
Sam will be going out to a championship / high end league 1 club assuming.
That leaves one of three new signings or the team captain sitting out when Graham is fit again.
Obviously a back four is not in Goodwin's plans at all, he's spunking his budget on CH's . . . . We seem to do this every year but in different positions. No idea, pal . If it's loan or permanent. He does have two years left on his contract though, so if it's the latter I can only assume we are paying a fee or a paying it up in installments like Iovu.
It does feel we are ridiculously top heavy on defenders and defensive midfielders compared to other areas of the team.
But, that's what Goodwin does.
Are we really ridiculously top heavy though? We are only an injury away from using academy players in both positions. That's not going to work is it? Especially now Graham could be out for a while. Bert also went off injured although hopefully just a precaution.

We’re going to be playing 3 at the back so we definitely need this extra centre half, taht will give us 4 senior centre halves plus Harding competing for those 3 spaces. The season hasn’t even started and Graham is out already with his hamstring again.

Unfortunately, I fear Graham is becoming this seasons Docherty. We won't be able to rely on him being regularly available for selection even though he's a good player when fit.
Another victim of the Harold Shipman-style medical team at Tannadice?

You missed the important part where I said 'compared with other areas of the team's.

If you've been reading my posts lately you'll know I'm in full agreement with you about the urgent need for strikers, but if a CB has become available and we need one I'm not gonna criticise the manager for signing him, unlike yourself of course.

Who said I'm criticising him? I'm merely making an observation.
We are often top heavy in some areas of the pitch compared to others, and the areas of the squad we are light in are all too often in the attacking areas.

Signing another CB only really makes sense if Graham is expected to be out longer term or SCH is away to be out on loan.
It certainly looks like we're away to revert back to that 3-4-3 style we started last season with looking at the squad currently.
Perhaps why we've been slow to focus on Centre Forwards if Goodwins knows he has Sapsford, VDS, and Stirton and thinks that is enough since he prefers one up front. Which gives me the fear btw..

VDS couldn’t score in a brothel. That leaves a lot of pressure on new signing Sapsford and young Stirton. I’m not wanting to write us off before we’ve started but i have very little confidence they’d get 15 goals between the 3 of them.

We need at least one striker.

Goodwin already said publicly he wants 2 more strikers.

We have 4 centre halves at the club right now with a plan to play a back 3. So we need to have at least 5 centre halves in my eyes.
Iovu
Esselink
Graham
Cleall-Harding
This new boy
You then have Sev there as an option to drop back in.
I'm glad he is left footed. With Graham's injury and likely absence at points throughout the season, we needed a left-sided defender there to keep the correct balance of that back 3.

Yeah we're looking for minimum of one striker coming in but what happens if he turns out to be a dummy?
When you consider the January signings, Campbell, Fiorini & Paton, I don't think I'm being disrespectful.
It can easily happen & of all the 7 new boys coming in so far this next one is arguably the most vital signing of all.
Meanwhile we're all waiting with our tongues hanging out.
Good luck Jim.

There still seems to be rumours going about that Owen Stirton might be off this window.
If that is the case I for one will be severely disappointed.

Pretty sure Goodwin said a while back that Stirton would be in the first team squad this season.
Thing is he most likely doesn't have the final say.
But I doubt he wants Stirton away.

I’m not sure what the cut off is for player registration for the Strassen game.
But if we end up not going through cause of a lack of a striker, that’s on Goodwin(s)

The new goalie used to play upfront according to the Courier.

In fairness, last summer and January Goodwin said publicly he was looking to address the lack of pace up front about a dozen times so will have to take his comments with a pinch or salt!

I don’t see how. You can’t force players to sign so do we just sign any jobber just because he would sign. Players nowadays have all the options.

Hungarian centre half Krisztian Keresztes (had his medical done yesterday) and Troyes winger Amar Fatah both done but still to be announced. Graham out for a month

Good to hear re signings
Whilst a month out is frustrating it could have been a lot worse tbh and at least we have cover in that area

I, too, will be really pissed off if this happens.
You raise a very interesting point - Who does have the final say? Presumably not Ogren (he’s not operational), so would it be Capuano or would it be taken at Board level?
The level of opacity makes accountability impossible.

The Hungarian centre half is a left footer as well, so that covers him.
All fit, it means we have:
RCB - Esselink/Sevelj (if necessary)
CCB - Iovu/Cleall-Harding
LCB - Graham/Keresztes
Assuming the boys we’ve signed are all of a decent standard, we’re now in a pretty strong position at the back with lots of cover.

Tend to agree with goodwin on trying to get a solid defence sorted first, compare us with dundee last year who were scoring plenty goals but letting in just as many. But where would we be without dalby, in a post-split relegation battle most likley considering how tight the league was last year

Amar Fatah on the official now
Welcome to the club young man, hope you live up to the hype.

Fatah signs, Swedish winger.
Troyes paid 5 million euros for him a couple of years back but has been on loan ever since.
