United should definitely keep the Shed.
Fuck their title party, it's our stadium and I reckon we'd fill it.
I wish we would but we absolutely wouldn't. A lot of people, for whatever reason, don't go to games against the old firm. Especially so for a potential title game. If we slash their allocation all that will happen is Celtic fans, one way or another, will find their way into the shed anyway, but with the likelihood of trouble. It would be a recipe for disaster.
I'd love to see the day our home support is big enough to take the shed v Rangers or Celtic for a league game. We aren't there yet though.Hardly ever post but just wanted to point out that we've sold-out The Shed in both home games against Dundee and also the game against Aberdeen at Christmas time.
Our support is arguably bigger than it's ever been in the last 30 years. Best since i've seen it since the 80's or early 90s. The club should hold fire on automatically giving them The Shed.
Against Dundee we'll always sell the shed nowadays, and the Aberdeen crowd was brilliant, I'm sure we can have a similar one on the last day of the season if it's all to play for.
Against Celtic though, historically we have not had a great home crowd. For the game earlier this season, the George Fox stand only sold out a couple of days before the game. More often than not it doesn't sell out. A lot of people (I'm not one of them) don't go to these games for various reasons - I suspect an expectation that it's unlikely to be a competitive game, the price, kick off time, a dislike of the Old Firm and a feeling it's not a nice environment to bring kids.
From the club's point of view if they hold back the shed, the club shop will be beseiged with Celtic fans attempting to get in the home end, and one way or another many will, even with purchase history requirements. Tickets will be on resale sites and plenty will find a way to get in. The club will lose a lot of money on sales, have a world of aggro with hundreds of away fans in the home end, to address a problem which IMO doesn't exist.
I'd be delighted to get to a day when there is sufficient demand to keep the shed for all home games.

Assuming the game still has importance, of course.
We get 1700 in that shitehole of a corner. They get 1900 behind a goal. Get to fuck with that United.
If they can’t behave, give them nothing. It's more a Police decision from what I hear, not a United one.
It's still very annoying that they are essentially being rewarded for scum behaviour.
When we are forced to pay for the police to be there why are we not telling them to just do their job, focus on that section close to Godwin, and drag people out that are seen throwing things?

Not too bothered by the fixture list to be fair.
First week, yes we've got our work cut out, but with Dons playing Hibs something's got to give there and you can't imagine that St Mirren will win.
Second week - our biggest game - if we can do something at Easter Road and St Mirren win their easiest game then we're in a right good position.
Third week, our easiest game and both Hibs and Aberdeen away to the Old Firm - big chance.
Fourth week, a toughy at Ibrox, but they'll definitely have nothing to play for by then and with a bit of luck are still in Europe (unlikely). Aberdeen unlikely to beat Celtic at home - St Mirren might do us a favour.
Final day - take care of the Dons and we'll be 4th at worst.
It's all there to play for...

Ask the police to arrest folk shock, what's it come to when we're expecting that!
If we kept the bottom 3 rows of the JK empty it could be policed from below as opposed to the back. Grow a spine FFS

I hear what you are saying, but the club also have a duty of care for our Manager, and unfortunately they've thrown stuff at him every time.

United fans being in the shed helps the atmosphere, but.......there's a lot more seats in the Jerry Kerr/Fair Play we can sell to our own if need be..
I don't think the Police would want a mix of fans on that touchline.
Giving them only the Shed, gives them the lowest possible allocation.

Every other club slashing away ticket allocations, hopefully our club remembers to do the same.

I actually hope not. It's a race to the bottom and does no-one any favours as it just means less and less people can follow their team (as per our trips to Tynecastle and to a lesser extent Ibrox). Scottish football thrives with big, loud, away supports.
There is of course a balance - there is no reason to give Aberdeen 5000 tickets if the demand is there for home fans. But there should still be a decent amount for every team at every stadium.
I'd rather the club vociferously spoke out for having a guaranteed allocation for every game.

Agree with this 100%. I'd go further and say (subject to the logistics of each stadium) that a certain percentage should be guaranteed for away fans at a certain price. If not filled then the away club should subsidise the home club to the value of the unsold seats. That way we might also drive a more sensible cost for away tickets.

Just glad it's not my problem.
We just don't have enough of our own support, it's always been like that.
When you have a core support of 8,000 it's difficult calling the shots compared to Hearts, Hibs & Aberdeen who have twice as big supports.
I'm glad we do have the 5th biggest home gates in the country and by some distance ahead of the Fun, Killie & M'well but it still leaves us kowtowing to away fans.
Kerching at the end of the day tho.

Think the club have listened to most and priced it very well.
Vs Celtic, season ticket holders can bring a friend for a £10. Can't get much fairer than that plus they are giving that horrible lot a taste of their own medicine by charging the £40 notes. How do you like em apples.
Vs St Mirren, £20 a ticket and we are in the Shed.
Vs Aberdeen, full price (dont blame the club), we are keeping the Shed.

Can't agree with the Celtic point. No Scottish football match should EVER be £40.
Remember it's the fans who are paying it, not the opposition clubs. We're not giving anyone a taste of their own medicine. The Celtic board won't give two hoots what we charge. It's normal folks like us who just happen to support a different team who will be paying the price.
Similar to my point about reducing allocations being a race to the bottom, raising ticket prices (especially at that level) is also exactly the same and will only result in more and more fans of all clubs getting priced out of going.

I get the point you make however the VAST majority of fans who attend Tannadice, not a tiny minority, are absolute scum.
It will give their own hordes a wee taste of how it feels to have to fork out upwards of £37 quid to attend a game. They are not normal fans like us.

I think UTD have got this bang on.
£40 is not far off what they charge away.fans. + £10 for home fans is a bonus as we will have to put up with an afternoon of sectarian singing, the waving of flags of a number of foreign countries + the usual ( allegedly banned) use of pyros.

I'm not sure it's a "wee taste" of anything, they pay £30+ for every away game I believe, every game they play in is category A for the home club. What Celtic charge away fans (which is a disgraceful price) has got absolutely nothing to do with them though, just as we're not responsible for United and Dundee bumping up the prices for derbies for both sets of fans.
I just don't like seeing supporters of any club cheering while clubs collude to increase prices across the league under the guise of benchmarking. I'd much rather fans of all clubs organising together to stand against being charged £40 for any game. It'll never happen through due to tribalism unfortunately, especially when we consider opposition fans 'absolute scum'.
I'll never understand how fans hold other fans responsible for what the club they support charge, and actively celebrate as we all end up paying more to watch football in Scotland.

That's my opinion of them and their ugly sister.
Two things, if they get charged that price everywhere they go then fair enough, they shouldn't have an issue.
Secondly, clubs are not colluding to increase prices.
St Johnstone £22, Kilmarnock, St Mirren and Motherwell both £24, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen £30 & £31.
Yet when we go through to Glasgow is upwards of £35 notes and we need to put up with all of the nonsense.
You and me will never agree on this clearly 👍

This is a point the SFA need to deal with. Part of what makes Scottish football great is the interaction between the fans at the game. It is also giving the bigger clubs even more of an advantage by mimimising the away crowds. I would say the rule should be every club has to offer something like a minimum of 10% of capacity for away fans and each away club can decide what they ask for.
However, while these rules aren’t in place, we should absolutely limit hearts/hibs/aberdeen to the shed or fair play and encourage our fans to show we can fill the gap. Something we have proved they will do this season.

Aberdeen give us 1700 in that corner. They should only be given the fair play stand. Same with hearts, they should only get 700 upstairs .
Shove the money, we should treat teams how they treat us.
