Re: Dundee vs Dundee United - Monday 20th January (8PM)

Re Doc hopefully it's just a rumour and he's on the squad team sheet along with Kevin Holt. Holt is featured on the club social media build up photo maybe a clue for us.

Looking around social media there seem to be plenty of their fans confident we're getting beat tonight.
Funny how a couple of decent results turns them into worldbeaters.

I hope the boys are right on it tonight, high intensity high press and let's get into the next round. Don't think this is a place for debuts so I'm hoping JG doesn't try anything different from the off.

.

Rumour is that Holt is starting. In midfield.

Be as well only tuning in for the 2nd half, cos looks like it will be the usual first half containment job.

If that's true then the Docherty rumour is probably true also 🫤

From what i'm hearing we've probably seen Ross Docherty in a United strip for the last time.

Out for the season apparently.

Cheers for the avatar btw 👍

Fuck sake what a joke. So rather than strengthening we are just patching up instead. He's worse than Pawlett ffs

The club need to be straight with the fans about this!

Ross Docherty adds to our team, unfortunately a player who only features in around 1 in 5 of our games over a season is no good to us at all.

I doubt we'll see much of him now going forward if Sibbald is back and Fiorini features often. Because Stephenson and Sevelj are mainstays.

Absolutely this which is a pity as he does bring something to the table.

Yeah, doesn't actually work like that though

Re: Dundee vs Dundee United - Monday 20th January (8PM)

If Docherty is out I feel sorry for him. To suggest the termination of his contract is a ridiculous statement.

It may mean Holt at CDM.tonight.

Or maybe Fiorini straight in.

Re: Dundee vs Dundee United - Monday 20th January (8PM)

Bizarre to suggest his contract should be terminated.

I' gutted for the team and gutted for doch himself. We miss him when he's not in the team. He controls games and we play better around him. Also - he's a fantastic professional - i think if we are going to have a squad half full of loanees, we will need players to get them to play our way and fit into our culture.

Whether we offer him a new contract or not, I don't know. By all accounts, this is his worst period of injury in his career

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Bit of a weird response if you're serious. Beyond it being a bit pointless, there are real negatives with doing that.

It would have a very negative effect on what must be a very good dressing atmosphere if a popular player in the squad, and captain, gets punted.

It definitely makes the club less sellable to future players, when word gets around that if you get injured they might end your contract.

Thirdly, there is actually no financial benefit to terminating contracts early anymore. Think clubs used to be able to avoid certain PAYE taxes by giving players a lump sum to piss aff but think it was closed in 2014 ish. Happy to be corrected in this though, just recall seeing it in the papers back then.

Finally, we've got quite a good reputation for letting former players and players looking to rebuild their fitness train with us or use our facilities. Might not seem a big deal on the face of it but having a good reputation as a club is worth bit when attracting new players.

Re: Dundee vs Dundee United - Monday 20th January (8PM)

Docherty is out of contract in just over 4 months (May 31st).

There would be no point in terminating a contract and it would be completely unethical to do so regardless of how long he had left.

I feel sorry for the guy and am really disappointed this has happened. He's been a good player for us when he plays. But that has been few and far between sadly.

We'll find out very soon, Tek suggested its Holt earlier but that was before Fiorini was announced so who knows. Maybe it's all smoke and mirrors and Doc is fine,we'll know in the next 15 minutes I guess.

How we got here I've absolutely no idea, Holt in midfield 🤷‍♂️

A centre midfielder was and should have been our number 1 priority.

I hope the big guy proves me wrong (won't be the first) but I can't see it.

I hate rumours like this. Especially if they turn out to be true. As tek says he's out of contract in May so this terminate contract stuff is not even thought through.

3 minutes. And counting 😁

Fiorini Babunski and Paton all on the bench. No Docherty

Edited.

Tek was spot on, Holt in the middle. That apart it looks a strong team, with lots of attacking options on the bench and absolutely no defensive ones. That means a reshuffle is our only option if anyone at the back gets injured but I think we have enough options in that regard.

Square pegs and all that.

Re: Dundee vs Dundee United - Monday 20th January (8PM)

Gutted.
Lowered to their level.
Scrappy game, whether it was them getting to second ball first half, but the basic of keeping the ball on deck sadly lacking.
Sevelj on Murray - whit ?    On replays didnae look a corner.
Holt didnae offer much, consequently midfield lacked guile.
Come into it second half, but that many near things you just knew it was going their way.
- That'll ruin my week.
Only good thing - at least it wasnae in League.

Oh aye Mr Indecision leave every decision to VAR - referee when you don't have a referee.
VAR ruining the game.

Re: Dundee vs Dundee United - Monday 20th January (8PM)

Thought we played very well in the 2nd half near total domination, just couldn't get the ball over the line.
