Frustrating.
First half we looked very dangerous on the break and the signs are definitely there that we pose a much better threat thus season going forward.
Two brilliant goals we scored that said its very annoying when we lose the sort of goals we done today, very avoidable.
Up top I thought VDS done well and hopefully will come on to a game, Trapanovski and Thomson both were excellent.
Ferry had a super first half Also.
Middle of the park is where we dropped two points today, nowhere near imo. Showed a real lack of composure and bottle to get on the ball, too often electing to hit it first time.
At the back although Graham done very well on the right it's clearly not his stronger side and got caught out at the penalty.
Both Gallagher and Holt done well.
Thought their keeper should have seen red for the tackle on Trapanovski, gets nowhere near the ball and stops a clear goal scoring opportunity.
That 20 years now since they BNBs have tasted success on our pitch, get it fucking right up them.

Lots to be positive about today, disappointed not to win but not too disheartened by the result.
Was really taken aback by how quick we attacked in the first half and how aggressive we pressed them. Team looked really well drilled and comfortable with the formation which is night and day from the first game I seen them at Falkirk. If that first half is the standard we’re going for we’ll be pushing for a European place cause I don’t think there’s many teams in the league that will match us for energy and aggression, and that will go a long way over the course of the season.
Ross Graham I thought was mostly excellent, get at least one more quick centre half in there and we’ll see a major improvement.
Ferry absolutely brilliant, relentless and absolutely rapid. Will already say with some certainty that he’ll be our best player in that position since Andy Robertson.
Trapanovski likewise looks our most exciting winger since GMS. Quick, skillful and confident on the ball, everything you want from a winger. Should’ve just toepoked that effort past their keeper to make it 3, but it is what it is.
Van der Sande done a tremendous job dropping deep against their boy Sylla. I was very worried about being overrun in the middle of the park by their midfield three, but he dropped in there and absolutely dominated him. He’s the Jon Daly successor we’ve need for years . Don’t think he’ll score quite as much, but is a very clever and unselfish player that will be a great foil for our other attackers.
Miller Thomson had a great game too, very aggressive and had a good few tackles as well as runs at their defence. I think we need to try Fotheringham up front playing off van der Sande, cause I just don’t think he has that burst of pace you need to okay out wide. He’s quick enough to play up top, but lacks that real acceleration to burst past players.
Still early days, and the team will only improve as they get more comfortable playing with each other and with the formation etc.
Lots to be happy about from today. Think we’ll be a right good side this season and am in absolutely no doubt that we’ll be nearer the top end of the table than the bottom. Pretty confident having seen both sides that well end up finishing higher than The Fun, we’re a lot quicker and have more clever players than they do. Though I don’t think they’ll necessarily struggle themselves.
One final thing, wtf is their keeper’s hair all about? Looks like a piece of Lego on his head. A right unfashionable cunt like the rest of their club. Stick a tash, a denim jacket and pair of old sambas on him and he’s a dyed in the wool funster.

Dundee should've nicked it at the end, Trapanovski's chance should've meant they weren't in that position at all.
VAR though......
Why wasn't their keeper penalised at the Trap chance, never got the ball, clipped the man, ball was still live.
And not just because it was v us, the offside lines, angles etc that i've now seen are really poor, the picture quality was so bad, to the point you can't 100% tell it was Simon Murray, let alone on/off.
Not blaming VAR, just saying. No VAR is better than half-assed VAR, hopefully we're on the right side of some favourable decisions this season.

Another thing I’d say is credit to Jim Goodwin for his recruitment this summer. It would’ve been easy to be loyal to the team that got us promoted, but he recognised we needed better in most areas and has acted.
Would probably have to go back to at least Levein to find a manager as skilled at finding a player as Goodwin is. Lots of imaginative and outside the box signings this summer which is exciting. And on first glance I’d say there’s a lot more hits than misses, much like last summer. Every team is desperate for a manager with a good eye for recruitment, so we’re very fortunate in that respect.
Probably the most excited I’ve been about the team since 2014/15. Even when we were the Premier League the last time, we were always a very dull, tedious, boring team to watch, which has never been the United way. I never really felt like the players or managers got United at that time in that respect, played like a team who was just trying not to get relegated. This team excites me, lots of pace and flair and talent amongst them
We’ll have our ups and downs, but I think we’re on the cusp of something quite exciting this season.

There was a lot of promising stuff today. I felt we were the better team up till about the 60m mark.
JG looked at his bench and realised there was not much their.
If he could have replaced Sibbald & Babunski with a fit Odada & Docherty we would have won that game.
Overall in the 3 months since we won the 2nd tier the team has improved massively.

As disappointing as it is not to have got all 3 points after a great first half performance there are a lot of positives to take:
- Our shape and understanding of the formation is much better than v Falkirk 3 weeks ago and you expect it will get better the more we play it
- Miller Thomson getting his first goal and putting in a very good performance further forward
- Both Macedonians are clearly classy players with great attitudes and will probably be our best players this season
- Van Der Sande is an upgrade on Moult, more mobile and holds it in better, but still very aggressive and a great work rate
- Sevelj had his best game for us and will hopefully kick on and show himself to be another good summer signing
- Ferry was very good again (been good every game he’s played), great energy, aggression and speed (could improve his crossing though)

Overall thought we played really well today. Was unsure about Sevelj and Thomson starting but both were superb. Miller Thomson was actually my MOTM. The first half we played very well, Trapa’s one on one should’ve sealed it.
Dundee were utter rank first 60 and then after the pen they really should’ve won it.
Draw fair result.

In twa minds aboot this gehm. TBH we ye, given that this was oor 1st gehm against a side in the Premiership (even despite the fact it was the BNBs), Eh woulda took the 1 point before the gehm started, But to be in the lead, then loss it jist efter the restart was seekenin, tak the lead again, then loss it to a Penalty, Ehm a bit seekened, probably coz it was they b@stards.
The Pen itssell was a bit weird. Eh thought the Lino flagged fir Affside ( no share - hae to see the replay), but the Ref certainly did. Then thirs a VAR anouncement our the tannoy, and our he goes. He taks phuckin ages, he waks awa, then he goes back again ? If hes no sure, then surely its no a Pen.
The only thing Eh didna like aboot our tactics, was that for lang periods, we sat in oor ain half while the BNBs had possession jist inside thir ain half, and there was little attempt to get the ba aff them. It would only tak 1 mistake fae ain oe their defenders, and we'd be in on thir goal.
In the end tho, it was a match Eh enjoyed. New players are miles ahaed oe oor squad last Season. Shoulda been daed and buried beh half-time, we shoulda been 3 or 4 up. It was probly an eh opener fir the squad oe what we've got to face this Season.
20 year since they baet us at Tannadice. (and they got a Pen at that gehm tae - so meh hert was in my mooth efter they got the Pen the day).
MOTM for me Trapper.

Actually enjoyed that game today and thought Utd played some really good attacking, fast and clinical football. Just a real shame that we couldn't take one or two of the other chances we had when we were 2-1 up.
Stand-out's for me were Trapanovski, Babunski, Ferry, Gallagher and Graham (thought he had a really good match until the pen).
Motm though was Miller Thomson. Raised my eyebrows him starting today so far forward, but he was absolutely electric in that first half and slaughtered their new Left back from Queens Park Rangers. Lovely finish for his first Utd goal too.
Also pleased to see Sevelj have a much better game too.
The two goals were poor defending though and it's a concern we have only kept one clean sheet in our five games so far. That said it was a hard afternoon against Murray and Palmer-Houlden and for the most part i thought we handled both well.
Only slight negatives for me were Sibbald poor again and i felt Fotheringham was poor when he came on. Definitely lost our attacking threat down the right when he replaced Thomson.
Other negative was the ref. We were denied a stonewall penalty that wasn't even taken to VAR (the Dundee defender handling in the box). Infuriating considering they took several minutes to check Dundee's much more complicated decision).
I have been very vocal about Goodwin and still have my doubts about him, but i actually feel this might be a fun Utd team to watch this season, and that's what it should be about.
Football is escapism from the drudgery of the 9-5 after all.

Agree with pretty much all of this tbh. Referee was a joke and VAR can get right to fuck. As well as the handball, how the fuck is that not a foul by the keeper on Trapanovski? But yeah a great game to watch and some exciting signs with still some additions to come.
Edit to say I thought VDS was also excellent today.

The match - felt we were the better side for the first hour. Some of the play was fantastic to watch. New players all seem to be quite intelligent in how they get out of trouble and vds's awareness of Miller Thompson position was class.
Thought we were too slow to change though. The dee were coming.more and more into it and we hadn't made any changes. I do get the far when I see Curtis main come on. Somehow, always gers a goal against us. We held out in the end and a draw in an entertaining game isn't a bad thing
The manager
I think he's done well with his recruitment. He's been brutal and identified players to fit the system. I think he deserves a lot of credit and although early days, it looks like our team could give a game to most teams in the league
The players
Well done to players old and new. Graham and tho.pspn have appear to have come on a level since last year. Trap, babunski and ferry are class. Thought vicko did an admirable job too. Odada is a big unit too- I'd imagine he will be ok once he's up to speed. All the players are good technically, seem to want to work hard and can entertain.
I'd have loved 3 points and feel we could have merited it on another day, but am confident about the season ahead.

Great first hour, then fell out of it. Think it was obvious that we needed fresh legs on way before we did.
Trap really needs to score that chance when through on the keeper.
Can't be too critical of him though as he was excellent; think he's gonna be a great player for us.

Enjoyed that. Good game and probably the right result as both teams had chances to win it. Didn't think it was a pen at the time but watched highlights last night and it was. First goal conceded was a bit of a nightmare. A poor touch from VDS combined with a total loss of shape handed them a tap in.
Our goals on the other hand were a delight.
Walton - not totally convinced but not at fault for the goals and certainly more robust than our last prem keeper. Had a great point blank save from an off-side shot late on. Generally happy enough with him.
Ferry - looks a player. Should dovetail well with Trapanovski down the left. May need to focus a bit more on defence against better teams.
Holt - decent game, but the step up shows. Overall I think we probably need an upgrade, but certainly a bot more relieved that he can contribute to the squad.
Gallagher - an OK game, but thought he and Graham totally lost the shape for their first. He falls into the camp of probably need an upgrade, but doesn't look as bad as I thought.
Graham - good game, but honest assessment is he was the main culprit for the two goals conceded. Would be better with a better defender along side him. That said, I think he was our best defender and Murray is a real handful.
Sevelj - was really impressed by him. Pretty clear that RWB isn't his position, but he didn't let us down at all. Bit of poise on the ball and looked a threat going forward. Ball to Thomson was perfect for the second.
Trapanovski - he tired second half, but really impressed by him. Looks to be a great find. Yes, should have finished the game off but delighted to see we've tried to get in a proper technical footballer. Took his goal very well - wasn't as easy as it looked.
Sibbald - Was left a little exposed with Babunski, Traps and Thomson being more forward thinking, but Graham did well to support him stepping up from CH at times (bar the first Dee goal). Thought Sibbs had a great game. He was left to do the things he's good at with less creative focus on him. Think he can have a good season. Will be interesting to see where we fit in Docherty too, although there will be game we will need to be more defensive.
Babunski - think he tried to do a bit too much, tbh. But fully see why he's got the armband and am excited to see what he can do this season. Technically excellent, bit of vision and I think he'll only get better as those around him get used to each other.
Thomson - delighted for the lad. Probably my man of the match. Movement was brilliant for his goal and he had their left back on toast for most of the game. Wasn't sure if he would relish the more forward role, but was wrong.
VDS - Looks 2 or 3 games away from being match-fit and got caught on the ball too many times. He also doesn't appear to have much of a leap for a big guy. That said his set up for Traps and his reading of the game looked good. If it is just a fitness issue then I think we might have found a player, but jury still out for now.
Fotheringham - difficult game to get up to speed with so not going to judge
Moult - same, but did nothing.
Odada - looks a unit and off the pace fitness wise, but if we can get him up to speed then no worse than Sylla. Thought he missed a sitter at the end, but the highlights showed it would have been a good header to get it on target.

Thought VDS did well up top. Won more headers and held up the ball better yesterday than Moult has in his 12 months here.

Not sure I agree with that, but similarly I don't think Moult is going to cut it at this level this time. I'd be starting VDS ahead of him. Probably different types of player though and Moult maybe not a bad option off the bench. Both are fairly slow however and whilst the pace on the flanks has been improved, Murray shows that a bit of pace at this level can make up for less actual footballing ability. We could be doing with a pace option through the middle. For me a CH upgrade is probably more of a priority.
Assuming that Watt and Middleton depart we can maybe get both?
Offline
If Odada and/or Docherty were fully fit and allowed for the change in shape to happen earlier then we definitely would have controlled the game much better towards the end and wouldn't have conceded the 2nd in my opinion.
Ifs, buts and maybes aside, I was quite impressed with a number of players.
Delighted to see Miller Thomson get the nod further up the park, think we are wasting his talents at RWB and he shouldn't be played in that spot unless injuries require it.
Van Der Sande put in an absolute power of work and seems to fully understand the role which Goodwin wants him to play.
Graham, despite both goals coming down his side, played well and tbh I think he is suffering being played on the right as we don't have a suitable right footed replacement for Holt that would let Graham move back to LCB.
Would love to beat that mob but if you had told me before the fixture list was released that we'd open with a point to a top 6 team from last season and play some fairly exciting football whilst we were there then I'd have shaken your hand.

should have mauled this mob first half and the game would have been done.

If Trapa scored his 1 on 1 they would’ve completely collapsed.

Glad someone has finally mentioned their support. Only heard them after their two goals and the Jim McLean song was an embarrassment from them.

68p was the sheep total, minky cunts!
Joking aside, you could see the absolute froth coming off those cunts yesterday, disgusting bunch of bitter middle aged men that have never seen their team win anything of note. Doon Derby and Top six trophy mugs on the sideboard. Always the funny team!
