Livi vs Utd - Wednesday 8th March (7.45PM)

Team and formation for Wednesday? I'd drop Edwards and Levitt. Both been louping for weeks. Would bring Smith back in for Freeman too.

Mine would be -

......................Birighitti.............................
..........Ayina...Mulgrew...McMann......
Smith...Harkes..McGrath..Sibbald..Behich
................Fletcher. .Anaku.....

Subs - Newman, Edwards, Levitt, Freeman
MacLeod, Djoum, Niskanen, Graham, Fotheringham

No offence intended but I feel sick when I look at that line up. Not because of your choices but because of the choices you have at your disposal.

Re: Livi vs Utd - Wednesday 8th March (7.45PM)

I would prefer Newman in goals.

Birighitti was left horribly exposed at rhe weekend by terrible defending, however his positioning and technique around  making saves is just brutal. The second aberdeen goal goes into the middle of the goal, same as st Johnstones first goal at tannadice.

Paul on the dode fox pointed out the first goal v st Johnstone and the keepers positioning , if you watch a replay he is spot on.

Possibly, but in recent weeks we've watched Edwards and Mulgrew get torn a new arsehole on a regular basis, in part because neither is quick enough. We can either go with what we know hasn't worked, or try something that might not work. I think without Edwards there, Livi would target Mulgrew (for his lack of pace). If you take both of them out, Livi will be spoiled for choice on which of the young inexperienced players to target, and we will capitalise on the confusion that results.

With a new manager who has nothing to lose, all the cards are on the table!

TBH, I still considered McMann at RB (or Behich, who is pretty two-footed) but I don't think Behich is great defensively, which is why I left McMann at left back. But one of my other options was:

                           Keeper
McMann     Ayina      Graham       Niskanen
Harkes       Sibbald       Levitt          Behich
                   McCarthy   Fletcher

And I'm not even on the sherries.

Now THAT back line might get rag-dolled, but at least we might have the pace to recover ....

Can't see anything on Utd site or twitter but I assume the original tickets are still valid for this?  Anyone know?

Can't remember the last time I was at a rearranged away game with an e-ticket!

Are we running a predictor for what time the pitch will be deemed unplayable?

15.00 for me.

1-1 FT.
A "decent point" most would probably say on any other occasion, but with games quickly running out it doesn't seem as helpful. As soon as we went behind we seemed to pretty much control proceedings from there on. However, as usual, we didn't threaten to score other than Sadat's miss and the goal itself. A massive game on Saturday.

Take a point. It stops the rot.

But i really think we need to sign 2 or 3 free agents in the next few days or we're down.

We just don't have the quality to win games.

Re: Livi vs Utd - Wednesday 8th March (7.45PM)

First half utter garbage.
We have some excellent players and some dross, all in positions we cried out for in the transfer window.
Excellent subbies that had to be made.
Mulgrew kept it simple, he's been much maligned of late. Unsurpring with yon tit of a goalie behind him and being involved in a few cock ups, but more so because he "goes sideways" etc etc ..... to me the reason he looks like he's strolling is because he is - he's a class apart. He'll go square when it's safe and go long when it's on.
McCann and Behich developing a great understanding, fair play the running Behich does off the ball is immense.   Sibbald another great game, great scrapping, great workrate.
Fletcher as always worked tirelessly and Fotheringham - what about that flick for the goal.

Take the point and keep on them Goodwin - the attitudes there even if the quality is woeful in some positions.

Not sure if there are any out there.

It's a start and at long last we seem to be putting the boot in.

If we get out of this it will only be through rolling up the sleeves and fighting our way.

Sadat clearly ain't ready to start and Freeman should have been off earlier.

There's a glimmer of light.

Might have been a bit better with Levitt's ability to pick a pass, but with him out (hope you're wrong about his injury), as well as Middleton and Pawlett, we were low on attacking quality today. Getting some of them back available asap would definitely help.

That said, I still expected better from us today, and I feel less positive about our chances of staying up now than I did after the Aberdeen game. Goodwin got most of the big calls right IMO, but bottom line is we have no steel in our team and we're a bit of a pushover. Not sure if there's much he can do about that.

Glad I don't have to watch Livi every week. Would rather stab myself in the eye with a rusty fork. And they were charging 20 quid for PPV? Zero entertainment. Never seen so many big guys go down so easily when someone farts within 10 yards of them. But then why wouldn't they when the ref is giving them every single decision?

I doubt there are 2-3 free agents out there match fit ready to go that are in our price range and in positions we might be looking at.

As for the Goalkeeper situation I suspect JG has told Birighitti he's the main man and needs to front up. Will be interesting to see if Newman plays in the Reserve cup semi next week with the associated injury risk there is from playing (in any game)
