Response to the racism allegations

(Bit delayed. Been busy)

Firstly, I'm over the moon that our fans have been cleared of racist shouts in the Hibs game. I think that we've earned a reputation - from the impartial observer at least - that our fanbase is pretty special (cleaning up the square after the party in the Netherlands was a new high), and it's important we protect that.

Secondly - I think it's important to flag when the club get things right. We give those in control hell when they get it wrong, so fair's fair. From my position, I thought the club didn't put a foot wrong - statements went out without delay, investigations were held quickly and comprehensively, they clearly worked with Hibs to organise a united publishing of the results and got permissions from the authorities to show clearer footage to put the issue to bed. It was a fairly high stakes issue, and I reckon they handled it very well. Well played to all involved.

Thirdly - I have heard my fair share of shouts of 'fat bastard' over the years. Often from the wife. Yon shout was never a racist slur.

I'm one of the first people to call out racists mate, and like you all I heard was fat bastard. Never having been of a portly build it's not one I've had levelled at me personally, plenty of other names the missus could come up with instead though 😋😂

Re: Response to the racism allegations

Totally agree the shout was 'fat Bastard', Hibs were shouting this at a steward but also Tony Watt all night....

Interestingly the accuser who managed to get his name on SSNs has wen't very quiet....

Re: Response to the racism allegations

Where is the apology from Marvin Bartley, for insinuating our support was racist?

Re: Response to the racism allegations

Anyone who knows Tannadice knows that the mics only pick up the away fans.  Never understood why we don't insist on a mic at our end as it always sounds as if our support are silent on the tv.

Not sure we should be insisting on an apology from Bartley, but he should be more sure of his facts going forward.
