Fair point, we also won the Bells League Cup (the demon drink) happy days, and I suppose people who are against this sponsorship banish their children to their rooms while the adverts are on during live games, god forbid them seeing a betfred or sky bet advert  who knows where that can end.

They were obviously the highest bidders so at the end of the day, good business sense?

Indeed there has been and I guess that is why they are no longer sponsored by bookies.  Why we seem to be heading in the morally opposite direction is my very point.

Re: New Home and Away kits

People do realise that QuinnCasino isn't actually a betting company (QuinnBet is the company), but just in fact an online game of theirs?

Now, my 13 year old spends all his pocket money or indeed any other money he bribes from me and his Mother to buy 'FIFA points'.

You can't of course win money from this purchase but the premise is similar in as much as when he buys these 'points' (and they're not always cheap) he takes a gamble in which new player/s he ends up with in his FIFA Team.

Now let me tell you this, more often than not he gets duds and once out of every say 50 packs he opens he will get a 'win' and get a player he is actually happy with.

It's scamming addicted kids and out and out profiteering. No doubt about it. They (EA Sports) already make an absolute fortune from the purchase of the game alone.

If EA Sports come calling to sponsor us, do we decline?

In my view, absolutely.

What access did you have to gambling when you were his age? All these companies use online advertising to change the behaviour of 11-16 year olds. The Gambling Commission did a survey in 2019 which found a  11-16 cohort were more likely to have gambled in the last 7 days than, drunk alcohol, taken drugs, smoked or vaped. Children don’t fully appreciate the risks of betting. In many cases it starts off with scratch cards.

Going back to when you were his age, apart from spot the ball what exposure did you have to gambling?

My 15 year old son spends forever on FIFA too.  He doesn't spend any cash on it though.  Constantly creating "SPCs" or similar to win packs and then trades players with more acumen than a futures trader buys and sells lithium.  He has sold his tips in the school playground.  I think you need to cut the finance and get him to be more entrepreneurial!!

That apart, it does fry their brains!  He totally loses the plot when our top end wifi plays up!

So if EA Sports wanted to sponsor us I would have my doubts, but I don't think it is quite the same as gambling.  It doesn't have the same real world impact.

Quinn are not interested in our youngsters though, apparently...if you believe AU.  He would know he's on the inside with the rest of our moral guardians.

Maybe they were the only offer on the table - at which point the moral dilemma is made more complex by us having to reduce the playing squad if we reject the proposal

Oh he does all the 'SPC' stuff, completes all the 'challenges' and trades players etc.

We have previously deleted FIFA from his XBOX when he was younger and had periods where he was banned from playing it.

Due to how addicted he was getting and how frustrated the game made him.

Re: New Home and Away kits

The "loot boxes" in Fifa and in other games is definitely a form of gambling, people spend hundreds on them. Especially when they keep secret the percentage chance of getting the top cards. Loot boxes are already banned in some countries and there's talk of  a ban here as well

I don't mind some controlled spend on these games as they are good fun and entertain them for hours, but lines are being crossed I think.

No.  That however doesn't mean I am not glad that those types of sponsorships have gone.  Education is a wonderful thing - even at my age - views change.  That said I don't really align with those organisations, whereas my team is my team.  I'm not really an activist - I'll just vote with my cash.

People greeting about kits when we haven’t signed a player yet and we got in to the top 6 over 2 months ago and Europe 4 weeks ago baffles me.

Re: New Home and Away kits

New home kit is a retro homage to our 1982/83 Championship winning kit.

Macron logo chevron's are going down the arm.

Old style DUFC writing in italics as the badge.

1983 Premiership Winners on the back.

Apparently.

Excellent if true. So the new fancy badge won’t be on the new strip? Only one season so no biggie for the club.

What a difference Macron have been compared to the shit Nike kits we had the last few seasons with them.  I hope we extend the deal with them- think it ends in 2023?

Re: New Home and Away kits

I have liked the macron kit and this years training gear was smart too.

Decent quality kit and designed for us - not just an off the peg option. Think puma do some decent kits too if it were to go down that route.
