Permanent, apparently.

Disappointed in that, there is a player there that we have not been allowed to see.  He's never a left winger and should be played through the middle but this seems to not have fitted the plans of recent coaches.

Good luck to him if his contract is up and he wasn't being offered a new deal then its a good mover for him.

My concern is we are starting to move our former academy players on, not for the benefit of the team but to prove the concept that had been sold to our chairman - apologies for going off topic

Shame for Appere to be off, think there is a player in there, but we seem to be incapable of finding it.  Good luck to him and I expect him to prove a few at Tannadice wrong.

We've clearly spunked all our budget on Watt hoping he'll have the same affect as Shankland did in the Championship.  Our recruitment policy seems to be fairly limited in innovation.  Say McNulty breaks down again and Watt gets an injury, what exactly do we have up front?  That said seeing as we executed the gameplan almost perfectly on Saturday (with not shots on target) maybe we aren't planning to score many goals?

A win win for both parties if true.

Interesting to see if there is business with Fulham too.

The loan market has been very good for Dundee United over the time the current owners have been in place.

Well, neither party enters into a loan deal expecting to lose (other than us who seem to need to loan boys out just to make the books balance).
If there is no business with Fulham, what's the point of announcing a tie up (other than to evidence the DoE's 'extensive contact book'?
The loan market has not been very good for United in the Ogren years.  Levitt may be the exception, but he's not exactly lighting this league up. His good performances definitely balance out his average/poor ones but that's not exactly the return we are looking for.  The others have been poor by any standard.  Also, whilst we have loaned out many youngsters, few have actually come back to us as players ready to make the step up to our first team squad.  So that hasn't really worked either.
Tony, Tam, whoever you are, can you please stop spouting total nonsense?

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

It's funny people think there's a player in Appere and we've just not seen it yet....Where's he been hiding the player then, not as if it's United's greatest ever team he couldn't get in.

Not sure how I feel about that tbh. But surely there has to be some significant incoming today though. Feels like we are freeing up cash for someone special, fucking hope so!

Courier reporting Kevin McDonald nearly signed and could be in the squad for tomorrow night.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

With Appere's size and strength, I always thought the obvious role to develop him for was as a centre forward target man who could protect and hold the ball, bring a smaller forward or attacking midfielders into the game and generally give big centre halves a hard time. Also, get on the end of crosses. But we never seemed to work on improving any of those aspects of his game. It's like that kind of a player doesn't even get a mention in the list of "player types" on an iPad coaching app. Frustrating, but hopefully a good move for him, as he might get more playing time in a position he's more likely to do well in.
Is Biamou still here? If not, we're struggling if Watt, McNulty or Clark get hurt. Glass being loaned out (which is also a good move for him, to get him playing time) leaves us with who as the attacking centre mid who can create things around the edge of their box? Is that what McDonald does, or is he a deeper player that will let us play Levitt further up the park?
Struggling to see what the plan is tbh.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Classic United. Leak something to Burns in the morning so we think something is going to happen. Fuck all happens and we say we tried everything we could and just couldn’t get anything over the line. Rinse and repeat every August and January.

If we do the get the Arsenal boy over the line and take a massive gamble on McDonald we are still at least 2 players short of where we need to be. This has been obvious all season but nothing done to address it. We are arguably in a worse place now with all of the outgoings.

Looks like the boy from Arsenal is about to be announced going by United twitter

*edit*
That's it confirmed. Mibbe just me but the videos a bit OTT for a youth player coming in on loan.
