I feel Harkes needs dropped. He’s miles off where he was earlier.

I'd be dropping Harkes, Fuchs and Pawlette after that horror show on Tuesday.  Give Mochrie, Glass and Butcher a shot.

I would agree that those 3 deserved to be dropped after a shocking performance on Tuesday.

Lafferty will score, no doubt about it

In fact, we should have sent McNulty back and brought in lafferty as well as Watt in my opinion

100%

Lafferty is exactly the type of forward we need.

The lad has done nothing for the last few years.

Better options out there.

Well i would agree with that however if any of those options will end up at Tannadice is an entirely different matter

One of them already has. Tony Watt is twice the player Kyle is.

I would also agree with that. However this is still a team that without any more additions will be in the relegation dogfight.

3 at the back tomorrow apparently, Freeman and Sporle as wing backs. Butcher in for Fuchs.

Apart from blasting a hat-trick against us last April, of course.

.....       McNulty Watt

Edit it's no about Watt v Lafferty - it's about getting good clean ball to Watt McNulty. Off topic anyhow.

And rag-dolling the laddie we've just sold to Aston Villa for loads of ££££££.

It's not about who's better, it's about the different type of dimension a big, physical striker would give us. Always and Tam might not like it because they have dreams of playing everything on the deck like some sort of Man City of the north, but in Scottish football, having a target man get give you an outball if plan a of playing on the deck isn't working, like on Tuesday night when boys refused to risk passing the ball into midfield so just passed it around the back four/five whilst boys like Pawlett and Fuchs were trying control simple passes and the ball was actually spinning over their heads.

Too much commotion

Spot-on.

Anyway hopefully if Lafferty plays today, big Edwards can contain him. There's no way he can be match fit, so probably only a sub at best (hopefully).

Re: Kilmarnock vs Utd - Saturday 22/1/22

Good to see the worst performers on Tuesday are dropped. Harkes, Pawlett, Fuchs & Neilson.
Would have preffered Glass over Clark in what appears to be an attacking midfield role.
I still think we will lose 2-0

Re: Kilmarnock vs Utd - Saturday 22/1/22

We are through and that's the main thing however that was another hard watch today.

Over 1500 of us there today and for a cup tie I thought we were very quite but the tempo that we play at its hard to get excited.

Thought that Freeman and Watt were decent.

Anyone know why Mulgrew had to go off?

Re: Kilmarnock vs Utd - Saturday 22/1/22

First 15 we started very well and looked by far the better team. Then Killie get their goal out of pretty much nothing (Siegrist could have done better with the initial shot imo), and from then on in the 90 Killie were the better team. Also dominated the 1st period of ET.

Then Dylan Levitt shows the one real moment of quality in the entire match and wins it for Utd.

We got over the line in the end and showed a bit of resilience and character in doing so.....BUT

That was yet another disjointed, imbalanced performance where you felt we could play all night and not really trouble the opposition Keeper greatly. We created 3 chances in 120 minutes, the two goals and Niskanen's shot off the post. So, i suppose you could say we are at the very least clinical when we have a chance, but truth is Killie had many more chances and also looked like they had a better balance to their play at times.

Siegrist saved a few 'bread 'n butter' type shots but positionally looks all over the place at times recently. fair to say he has been like this since Neil Alexander departed? Few other observations -

Edwards and Mulgrew generally done well. Hope Charlie's sub was just precautionary.

Watt worked hard for the team. Looked a bit like Luggy today, playing with the socks down at the ankles and always trying to twist his opponent. I did feel though that although his control and work rate etc was very good he quite often slowed down our play. Not sure if playing him on the left is the answer. I hoped and thought he was signed to score goals but he was hardly ever even near the box today.

McNulty - Took his goal very well (bit like his 2nd at Pittodrie last season), but that apart was quiet and in fact frustrated me again. Drifted right quite a bit and with Nicky Clark playing pretty deep as a 'No 10' it felt like we weren't actually playing with a Striker at times.

Funny thing is i feel we have the bones of a good team here and some good players in the team, but something really isn't clicking.

Still feel we need a central midfielder who is a box to box type but more importantly can drive forward and take men on. We try to pass the ball to death and it is eye bleeding to watch. We could also do with a proper outlet out wide. And it feels like we still need a different type of Striker.

But obviously i won't hold my breath for any of these and i think our business may be done, sadly.

Glad we got through at least and Partick away is a good draw and day out. Look forward to it.

P.s. very nice touch from the Utd support to clap for that wee 13 year old lad on the 13th minute.

A young boy from West Lothian took his own life last week.

Only 13 years old.
