You really wonder where that pursuit leaves Carson then, as i can't imagine he will want to stay jut as a No.2.
And Clark will almost certainly only sign if he is guaranteed the No.1 jersey.
Carson on loan if we Dont get Clark.
If we do get Clark sell Carson.
I would imagine as simple as thatSo, we'll try and get a better Keeper Trev, but if we don't you'll do. What a ringing endorsement that is.
If we are actively trying to sign a Keeper like Clark then we have seen the last of Carson. He won't want to be a No.2 indefinitely (quite rightly).
I would say thats the way it is for every player at a club like UTD. We are always on the hunt for better players than we have if we find them the current starting player is on the bench or sold.
I believe most players know this is the case

According to the Courier we have signed a Finnish international keeper Carljohan Eriksson.

Goalie signed

Glad we've at least signed a Keeper.
Hopefully this doesn't signal Benji is away this month though. Then we'd be back to square one.
Would expect his work permit to take a couple of months.

I am pleased to announce we have signed the Finnish International goalkeeper Carljohan Eriksson. This guy is absolutely top class, significantly better than Carson and at least on a par with Siegrist.
This is a major coup for the club, this guy was starring against Wales for his country just a few weeks ago.
A brilliant transfer.

Interesting signing and came out of nowhere.
Limited international experience. Has just finished with a mid table Swedish side. According to wiki he played 67 times in 3 seasons. They have 30 games a season plus cups - so approx 2/3 of available games.
In all honesty, I thought Carson was class and too good to play second fiddle. Will he be better than Carson? Who knows.
Fingers crossed. We will need to buy a new international honours board soon

How can you possibly say he's far better than Carson (also an experienced Internationalist Goalie) and on a par with Siegrist?
None of us have seen him play, let's be completely honest.

I can assure you he has been extensively scouted. United no longer sign players based on video evidence or agent recommendations.

Calm down Tony, I'm sure you're right! We know you have an extensive contact list and don't rely on Indian school kids to check out videos on the internet any more (just as well he had uni as a fall back when we moved on to better scouting). We hadn't heard of this one so I guess it can't have been anyone in your 'back catalogue' so clearly someone has done a good job on this lad. Get's himself in the shop window, selling club, blah blah blah. Onwards and upwards to sixth...

Right you are.
Is AU ITK?
It wouldn't be Tony.
One of the academy staff maybe?

I'm pretty happy with the new goalie signing. Probably more of a pedigree than Siegrest when he signed? If we can move Siegrest on for decent coin then come the new season we have two internationalists battling for the number one shirt then I can only see that as a huge positive---wasnt that long ago we had Zwick and the other young guy as the two keepers. A creative midfielder to go along with that and I'd be reasonably pleased with the window. Obviously a decent winger would be great but I think Tam is hoping Niskanen can be that(me too!)

Totally happy to build up a Finnish group within the club. Kamara has been one of the best players in the country for 2 or 3 years - there must be others going under the radar (albeit he didn't actually play that much in Finland). Niskanen may be limited, but he's shown enough for the level of Scottish football we play. Surely must be a half decent big striker and creative midfielder playing in the Finnish league...

May as well go the whole hog and get Mixu back as manager and Riku Riski on the wing.
Back in the real world, the club are scouting right across the world. Although Brexit has closed a number of doors, it's opened plenty too.

I'll give you Mixu's managerial skills but if you could sign him as a player again (the version that played for us) you'd do it in a heartbeat. Riski also holding down a place in Finland's best team so certainly no worse than Niskanen.
I am however interested in which doors Brexit has opened? Doubt it has actually opened any (in the real world), but no doubt you will enlighten...

I see Shankland is available, would have him back at United in an instant but think he’ll end up at Hearts sadly

He can only play for United and Beershot this season, so if he was to move in January it would be here.
I don't think there is much incentive in Beershot loaning him, they'd surely be looking to recoup some of their fee. I don't imagine United would be in a position, or want to, pay that.
For what it's worth I think he is a limited player, who did very little in the Scottish Premiership and the Belgian First Division A. He is good finisher, but little pace, physicality or ability to beat an opponent. He thrives on service, and we need a bit more than that

I actually agree with that. He'd struggle to score again without us creating considerably more chances than last season (we don't).

They might just want him off the wage bill tbh, maybe not too much of a fee?
Online!
I’d love for him to come back but I think he’ll stay and fight for his place.

Heard Butch met with Perth Saints this weekend but they couldn’t agree on a deal.

If Gerrard is serious, he can quadruple the offer.
