It may well have been, but we've gotten used to Burns being the official leak.  Until we'd heard from him you would have to have taken it with a pinch of salt.  You have to assume that his info is coming from Tannadice given recent history and that he doesn't put it up without some direction from Tannadice.  Of course, he may have jumped the gun and that might mean he falls out of favour, but I somehow doubt it.

It just continues to point to amateur hour.

Finn, every club does the exact same thing. Stop searching for issues that aren't there.

We wanted someone, he never signed. It's as simple as that. It doesn't have to be a big disgrace/embarrassment/joke/amateur hour etc etc. It's just normal.

We'll agree to disagree on that.  I think other clubs go about their recruitment far less publicly and far more successfully.  Don't get me wrong, I think they have a hard job selling the club to prospective players, but I think the management are also a big part of the problem there too.

You think, but lets be honest you are just guessing. Because we look out for every single bit of Utd news. If you go into other club forums you'll see pages and pages similar to ours where there are rumours and leaks within the local media. Its completely normal.

I disagree that they have a hard job selling the club to players. FFS we are still Dundee United no matter how much some fans try to bring us down.

And in what way are the management a big part of the problem? Sorry to be so pedantic mate I just don't get it. We may just have to agree to disagree.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Say for instance the boy was offered 2k a week from both us and hibs. What differentiates us? Why choose 1 over the other? Status of club? The manager? The facilities? The aspirations of the club...as well as other thing like geography in relation to home

If you've got Jack Ross, a respected manager versus an unknown guy, it going to count against us. Not completely - but surely it plays a part.

Would I take a job where I dont know if my boss is competent? Maybe not. Especially if you are tied in to the company for several years. We are looking (presumably) for boys who will buy into the train and sell on system - what if he doesn't think courts can progress his career?

Not saying courts isn't a good manager - nobody actually knows but can this have an effect on a players choice of team - yes

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

We will - you think every club has these problems, I don't.  Other clubs tend not to leak that they are intending to sign a player only to fail to do so - there were 2/3 last summer and here is the first this summer.  It's not coincidence.

I'm not overly bothered about this lad - he's going to be behind 3 or 4 players at Hibs whereas if he thought he was the dog's then he would have been starting every week at Tannadice.  So I'm not bothered we've not signed him.  I am bothered that we appear to have wasted time on him, leaked that we are signing him and then have BBC headlines making it clear that we couldn't strike a deal with him making other prospects no doubt also question why.  All self-inflicted given our management's continued leaking of info.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Don't think it was mentioned yesterday but Ross Graham away to Dunfermline on loan after signing a new 3 year deal with Utd which, incidentally, makes him the player at the club with the longest contract (2024).

Good to see the club committing to Ross like this. I feared with K Smith/Neilson coming he might have been pushed out but its clear the club have high hopes for him too.

Hope he does well on his loan spell. Dunfermline are a club I will be supporting in the Championship next season as I really hope Killie/Hamilton and their shite pitches stay down there.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

The main message for me is we need to stop doing Hibs scouting for them, happened last year with Gogic and Nesbit and has happened again this year.  They swoop in at the 11th hour offer more money knowing we wont match.

Was hopeful with contracts expiring 30th June that we may have seen some transfer movement this week , unless the media team have a surprise at the kit unveiling that seems unlikely!!

Kind of impossible for us to stop that mate. Players out of contract are fair game. The most important thing is we are interested in players that are going to improve us as a starting 11 and I think Mulgrew will do that. Doyle-Hayes would have done that too in my opinion so hopefully we have an alternative at a similar level.

I just canna believe we've not had more rumours. Usually in the summer you see these rumour pages listing 4 or 5 players that every club in keen on. There has really been nothing. Hopefully we do see some movement asap but as long as we get the right ones in, that is all that matters.

1 player signed since last October.

Nine long, boring months where we have all been crying out to see players added to key positions.

Namely (wingers, CAM, Left back and a tall target man upfront).

If only we had a guy who's main remit is recruitment.😒

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Deary me.  Turns out we couldn't afford the guy that we leaked was signing.  Same as last summer.  Do these guys think the fans are stupid or are they stupid?  We were apparently "relaxed and quite comfortable" about not being able to afford a lad I've heard virtually nothing about despite him playing last season for one of our main competitors. Despite, it appears, him being our main target.  Meantime we don't have any problem signing another iPad holder for the back room staff.  Think I'm now a fan of Deluded United.....

Re: Summer Transfer Window

The trialist Goalie was indeed Danny Rogers.

If we end up signing him after he asked us for training facilities it certainly doesn't say much for our recruitment 'process'.

Exactly mate, if siegrist leaves and he comes in it isn’t good news! But play it by ear

Re: Summer Transfer Window

If Rogers comes in it will be nothing more than back up (which we need, remember). I think he is utter dog shit but we'll see what happens.

Looks like Liam Kelly going to Motherwell which is disappointing but not surprising. A weird situation we've seen where fans are clamouring for a player to sign to replace someone who hasnt left yet. Yes he might eventually go but there will be plenty other options out there. Will be very very surprised if Danny Rogers is our no1 this season.

Rumours today that MK Dons interested in Shanks but the asking price is too high.

Apparently so. Sporle injury was a knock, not muscle or ligament etc so hopefully just brusing etc and he is ready for Friday.
