Supposedly close to signing Congolese centre mid Beni Baningemi from Everton.

22 years old. Spent last season on loan at Derby.

Not a creative midfielder from what Everton fans are saying. More a ball winner, keeps things simple.

So, what Jack Doyle Hayes was meant to be.

Do we not have Fuchs and Butcher to do that?  We're surely not going to play with only ball winners in midfield and no width?  Seems an odd one.

TEK mentions it in the post before this!

Re: Summer Transfer Window

If he's better than what we have and is happy keeping the ball and using it well, then i'm for it. If he's very similar to Fuchs, i think there's a very different type of player we should be prioritising. It's possible we're going after those types too and this one is just happening first.

Thought the exact same thing.

Assuming the rumour is even true.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Typical United.

Others are using the transfer window to sign players, whereas we are just standing there licking it.

"Don't F*cking ever offer me that again!"

Re: Summer Transfer Window

That particular one didn’t really add up didn’t it? Obviously a silly rumour.

I’d kill for a rumour with substance tbh

To be fair we seem to have a policy of signing too many central midfielders and those also without an ounce of creativity, in recent years.  Fraser Fyvie the last one that actually created anything?  Good player pre-injuries and, of course, pre-us.  A trend that transcends regimes.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

I think we would have got promoted that year if Fyvie and Fraser had stayed fit but the rest of the team were no where near the standard required so might have been no bad thing in the long run. Fyvie's confidence to ask for the ball in tight situations, awareness to keep it then ability to use it really did make most players around him better.

Agreed. The pre-injury Fyvie and Fraser working in tamdem in the current team would have solved a lot of the problems we currently have.

Too much commotion

I actually think a fit Fyvie equivalent is all we need there.  Although a player of Fraser's skill would be a good ask too, but let's take one step at a time.  Do we genuinely think a Fyvie equivalent is achievable this window?  Is Meekison or Mochrie, given games, that player?

There is no benefit to the selling club model to say we’re skint so we wont. Any fan with half a brain can read between the lines that we had to reduce the wage bill or at least spend it more wisely.

The top 6 target is based on building in last year which we o ly missed out by a point. Hardly unreasonable to expect an improvement from our now more experienced squad. Or should the players also say they think they’re shite and we have no chance? Honestly, try to be even a bit rational.

As for one foot dangling over the precipice…. The “project” got us promotion, safety and a point away from top 6. Fuck knows what you call the 3 years that preceded that because we’ve only went one way.

Things can get so much better but if you base your conclusions on facts and not opinions there’s just no way anyone can be as negative.

On KF, good move. Always like to see players go to championship rather than further down.

Couldn't agree more. Great post

From what i've seen, they'd be more a SF replacement than a FF replacement.

If we were interested in the guy from Everton i have absolutely no idea how much of a player he is but you'd think coming up through a youth system like that, he'd be schooled in similar techniques to FF. Comfortable on the ball, comfortable in tight spaces,  clever positionally. Hence the comment above, if he's better than what we have then it's a positive signing. Looks unlikely now though.

United not in for the Everton boy according to the courier

Anyone expect a signing before Aberdeen game?  Don’t see it myself

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Nope.

Don't expect any signings until shankland and benji are sold tbh.

Luke Bolton was our best player at the start of last season until he got shunted to right back then right wing back and a more defensive system. then out the team completely.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

There are half a dozen young players at Tannadice hoping that the current dearth of signings remains so.
Are they up to it?
We'll soon find out.
Imagine it was you, what an opportunity, you'd be fighting like a tiger to cement your place.
The first quarter of 11 games will be a learning curve, we will have to be patient.
But then who is it that we are we going to be raving about come Xmas?.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

It may be that we've half a dozen lads who are bang up for it. I believe we do but either we stick to 1 system and don't change or we put square pegs in round holes.... deccan glass will never be a big burly striker. Kiran freeman will never be a winger etc etc.
