Wouldn’t be shocked if this happened

hopefully see some football next season then

Interesting. Wouldn’t be against this if we bring someone decent in.

Derek Mcinnes and Alex Neil both available just now.

Having a laugh if you think Alex Neil would come to any Scottish club outside the two of them.

Sacked by Norwich and Preston, would be surprised if he had that attitude.

We need continuity, I fear for next season if we start off with another new manager in charge. Micky has achieved what was asked for by almost all of us and we still have every chance of a decent cup run and 7th place finish. No need to be looking to offload him imo. I'd rather see how we do once he has a full preseason and opportunity to recruit. Fuck Doncaster, arse hole of a place.

I reckon it will come down to what kind of support Micky gets from the owners to reshape the team as to whether he wants to stay or not.

Hopefully MM stays.
Very surprised by the lack of credit he is given by some supporters.
IMO best manager since the Levein/ Houston era.

No offence meant towards Mickey but i really hope this approach and him going back down South happens.
I can't go his turgid brand of football. And i have no faith that this style would change (for the better).
His attempt to keep Pawlett is an early sign that mediocrity will be tolerated again next season.

I'd be very concerned if Mellon left tbh.
I think the early pumpings from the likes of Killie, along with lost points from crazy mistakes at the back from Connolly set the tone for Mellon this season and he quickly realised we had a Championship defence in Smith Connolly Reynolds and Robson, alongside championship midfielders in Harkes and Powers, McMullan.
For me a decent Mellon/Asghar signing policy kept us up, Edwards has been fantastic for sorting us out at set pieces - and getting a few goals- Fuchs has been a huge upgrade on Harkes/Powers alongside Butcher and has made a difference. Bolton has been the only notable flop, and I think people forget that McNulty was a 2nd choice signing after we couldn't get a hold of Safranko or a player of his style. Which given the money his club demanded left us unable to get him in.
I'd much rather see the departure of Harkes Powers Connolly Reynolds Robson (and tbh would accept Pawletts departure although I've defended him elsewhere, and, perhaps controversially, Sporle as well). IMO MM spent most of this season playing a turgid brand of football to stave off inherent weakness through the spine of the team, you only need to look at the number of saves Siegrist has had to make to see that defensively we are brutal, especially down the left with the Reynolds Robson combo which is targeted week in week out.
Mellon IN for me, at least I could sleep at night knowing even if we don't get some players in due to the budget he could at least keep us up.
EDIT: Before it's pointed out, Mcnulty hasn't been brilliant but I believe him to be a victim of the defensive shiteness also, constantly played out of position out wide as we needed his energy to help cover for defensive frailties,

I wouldn't want to see Mellon go, personally.
Even though he is scottish, it was his first foray into Scottish football, having had his entire career down south.
A combination of factors made early football at United terrible to watch but effective at getting results.
Fuchs and Edwards are good for the team. Bolton I was never convinced by (early doors he looked to take on a man but the end product was shocking). I agree with the previous poster who intimated that he was a product of our defensive frailties....also I think he would prefer to be in shanklands position but that's never going to happen.... I guess he was the best of what was available.
Given the choice of Jackie's free-flowing losing football or MMs tighter game....id choose MM. Infact since Jackie, I can't think of a manager who has played attractive football and been able to consistently win. I nver want to see united playing away at alloa and Dumbarton and struggling to get a result and I don't think MM will let that happen.

My fear if MM goes is who would take over. It's almost always better the devil you know in these scenarios. Yes the football was tough to watch at times, but we were a draw turned into a win away from being top 6 this season.
I hope he stays.

I'm firmly in the MM to stay camp. Can't think of a manager we've had recently who has had less money to spend , hasn't had a proper pre season and still managed to keep us up after inheriting a Championship squad from a manager none of us was sad to see leave.

Stay.
Why: Results
Long story: Development, Desire, Stability.
Development - He has taken us from Championship to a side which for me next season looks top six bound and has aspirations to go for Europe. (Which must appeal to Micky.) We've just beaten Aiberdeen, drawn v Celts and came close to getting a point off The Riders of the Apocalypse. All right we have had some total garbage games but effective substitutions and squad depth got results, whereas in Neilson tenure 2nd half of season everything was turgid.
Pre Neilson we were specialists at plucking defeat from jaws of victory.
In terms of development not only have we a good squad but we have a willingness to use youth - no hesitation coupled with our Academy which fosters it.
Desire - week in week out on DUTV I'm seeing the very articulate and positive Micky talking genuinely, no bullshit about Dundee United, our standing, our history etc etc. ... I'm no wanting to go back to some dour fucker, some turncoat or some twat that cannae speak Scottish. - Make no mistake this positivity brings the changing room together and breeds further positivity and desire.
Stabilty - we've what seems to me anyway a sound and increasingly successful structure at all levels. Do we want to return to the managerial merry go round ? - Surely no ?
So, for me, my guess is it's probably chip poke rubbish. In any event Mr O will put together an improved package. And sorry to say after another good year next year next season we'll be looking over our shoulders again.
Get used to it - we're a selling club, whether it be Benji, Shanks or Micky.
But now, tae Doncaster ? Naah.

Agree with Shakey
Can't really believe we're debating this. I'm tempted to say some people are never happy. Think about it.

Pretty crazy how some fans think........my be good if we get someone decent in..!! who would we get in, what would be deemed decent??
Turgid football, its been years since we watched anything but turgid football.... at least Micky's so called turgid football was in the top league and was on the back of the worst pre-season in football history.....

Is anyone else starting to get vibes that Mellon has chucked it?

It looked like it last night. Just head over to EF to read the gazillions written on why it’s the right thing for him to go. Does my nut in.

He doesn't look happy. There does seem a vibe that he is on auto-pilot.
Remember his enthusiasm for the job last Summer? Seems long gone.

What was he supposed to say ?

I think he's been told the club are going to go down a different route, ridiculous that he isn't given the opportunity to make his own team.
Watch as young Asghar is promoted season by season and ends up in the dugout.
