Utd v Livi - Friday 2nd October (7.45pm)

A chance on Friday night to record back to back home wins and also to move into that 5th Euro spot.

Tough game though. Livi are a good side imo. Streetwise and organised.

Would be good if Liam Smith was back in training and fit enough to start this one.

What team does everyone want to see on Friday night?

If Smith is fit

                    Siegriest
Smith.  Edwards.   Reynolds.  Robson
Bolton.  Neilson.    Harkes.     Sporle
           Shankland.       Clark

A bit harsh on Chalmers maybe as he’s been decent the last two, but I want us to stick with 442 and 2 proper wide players.  I’d also like to see someone in CM who isn’t 2 yards off and relies on just fouling folk.

Butcher will play. I think we'll see the same team as Hamilton.

Re: Utd v Livi - Friday 2nd October (7.45pm)

Our right hand side hasn't been the problem, I would expect the same two to play. Butcher seems a bit off the pace in some games but I don't know if he's been asked to be more defensive and thus, not involved as much. Either way, I don't think you compete against Livi without a bit of strength so would expect him in too.

Our highlights reel the last 2 weeks revolves around Shankland and Clark. There's an argument to say that Shanland is scoring agains because Clark is back in the team. If he'd have even taken one of Saturday's chances, we'd be excited about the partnership. Expect to see it again.

Logan Chalmers asked how things have changed for him in a year and he says 'well i wasn't playing a year ago'.

Except he was. He played a year ago this very week against Morton and scored a good header in our 6-0 win.

Time for him to start adding goals to his game. 20 year old now so has to want to make that Utd jersey his own.

I think MM will go with the same again unless there is any knocks to them.
Wasnt impressed with his changes during the 2nd half last week.

Defend from the front.
Play the game in their half.
Hit the bye line.
Attack, attack, attack.
I know they've done very well & have a shrewd manager& all that  but it's blooming Livingstone at home for goodness sake.
1 - 0 (Shanland 62mins)

This.
Every week.
Especially the first sentence.
Cannae mind if it was Jock Stein or Bob Shankly who said "Best form of defence is attack"

I'm going to slightly disagree with you Lilley01, because there's an argument that Shankland's been scoring as he's been back in the team the last two. Nicky Clark's started the last five games and I'd be happy giving Louis Appéré a chance.

But I’ll agree that the same eleven starting is what we’ll probably see.

Crying out for a bit of composure in midfield here. Hope the boy Fuchs is the answer.

Winning but dear me that was dismal.

Brilliant free kick, bit lucky to get it though.

Deniz has kept us in the lead, outstanding first half from him.

Other than that we have been second to every ball and can't string one pass together never mind two.

Need to drastically improve second half to see this out.

This is as poor as we've been for a while. Absolutely no positives from this so far. That goal has been coming and there will be more to follow I fear

Just a massive lack of quality all over the
park. The better team won.

Worst performance since Laszlo.

Re: Utd v Livi - Friday 2nd October (7.45pm)

Blatantly obvious our tactics tonight we’re to lump it up park at every opportunity, fucking bizarre from Mellon! Could sign as many good players as you want but fuck me if there the tactics you’ve got no chance

Re: Utd v Livi - Friday 2nd October (7.45pm)

We played better when we lost 4-0 to killie

Re: Utd v Livi - Friday 2nd October (7.45pm)

Dearie me. That’s 10 tines worse than killie. Bullied, outfought, out smarted. Looked slower and unfit compared to them too. Zero composure from the whole team.

Centre halves will rightly get the negative headlines. Frustrating because for 89 minutes, they were absolutely fine. Too many times they’re chucking goals in though.

Butcher off the pace for sure tonight, nothing about positioning. Screaming out for some with class and composure in there to settle everyone else down.

If Mellon doesn’t come out and say that that was an absolutely shocking performance then we really are in trouble.
