Reading that Scott Fraser is a free agent.
Don't know much about him since he left but could he offer us some creativity ?

He hates Utd and will be outwith our wage bracket anyway.
Complete non-starter mate.

Hibs would be carrying a lot of luxury players if they get him. Would you take Scott Allan back if Hibs made him available? Despite his history with us, we need someone to get the ball from middle to front quickly, and he’s one of the best around at our level.
Probably not financially viable, but just on the off chance.

Yes - aged 19 or 20 he had more ability and bravery to get on the ball and try and make things happen than all of the others in that brutal squad. Has probably developed further in that time too into a more rounded player who's capable of creating bits of magic. Can do lots of things other players just aren't capable of or even think of.
I doubt he'll come back and I can't blame him due to the over reaction to him from some fans. We'd been brutal for a long time and patience was low as a fan base but was no excuse for some of the abuse/treatment he regularly got, particularly at the age he was at.

Only if he has cut his hair.
Number 2 all over or no deal 🙈

Massive yes
And Scott Fraser yes but there’s absolutely not a chance he comes back

Yes from me but it won’t happen. And agree with everything Lilley01 said.

You could be describing Glass and Mochrie in the current setup, wonder if history will repeat itself
A post-Burton, further developed Scott Fraser would be manna from heaven but if I was him i wouldn't come near Tannadice & who could blame him? Monsters in the Dode Lower.

The boy had a modicum of talent but the revisionism anongst him regards our support is unreal.
'Bravery' is the last attribute you could put to his name. His attitude and body language when the game wasn't going his way was awful. I will never forget his performance at County away in the Scottish Cup when he (for their 6th goal) just stopped running for the ball and allowed the County player a clear run through on goal.
Poster boy of the relegation side despite playing 36 times that season. And if truth be told all the young players in the team at that time (Aidan Connolly, Coll Donaldson, Blair Spittal) received criticism and abuse at that time. Spittal unfairly so imo.
Yet those named players are still disliked by Utd fans whilst Fraser is lauded in some quarters. I really, really don't get it.

I must admit the first image I have when Scott Fraser is mentioned is him standing hands on hip with the aliceband in his hair breathing out his arse after having to backtrack !

Aye, because bravery is only steaming into tackles and winning headers....... Putting your foot on the ball and trying to make things happen, in a sh!te team that's receiving piss poor coaching, is pretty brave from a 19 y/o.
And it's not revisionism just because it doesn't fit with your opinion of a player. As you point out, there are others who have very different perceptions of his time and contributions to United.
He was far from the finished article and no one could deny he needed to work harder for the team at that time. It didn't justify the abuse he received from some fans. I'm not sure just because other young players also got abuse, it was some how justified? He would be justified in not considering a return because of that criticism though - that's my point.

REAL Bravery is looking for the ball all the time in tight areas, very few scottish players are brave players

Some United fans said Armstrong wouldn't make it because he wasn't 'hard' or 'brave' enough.

Got to agree with Lilley01 and dufc2019, would prefer Scott Fraser's bravery over the likes of Paul Paton's every day of the week.
In Fraser's spell with United, I would be shaking my head listening to fans criticising him when errors being made clearly weren't his fault. He had a football brain and ability on the ball which the team didn't utilise properly, and must have been frustrated by the reaction of his teammates and the supporters at times.
However, to be fair, sliding into opponents and booting players is probably more typical of the Scottish game, and maybe his prowess is better suited in a different league. Only my opinion, mind.

Tell you what though, us lot that doubted him won't half look daft next season as he goes toe to to with Kante, tries to nutmeg Van Djik and has Lineker and co salivating as he tears up the premiership.
Oh wait.

I like to see both kinds of " bravery " from the team on the park and to be fair to the support as much as Scott was frustrated so were we at that time with the team fighting for survival. That is no excuse for the stick he took and I for one wished he would apply have myself a bit more as he was one of the only ones in the team with the ability to positively influence the game and maybe he suffered a bit for the expectations placed on him considering the injuries he suffered.

He never showed for the ball anymore than say Blair Spittal (crowned 'Shittal' by sections of the support). He was a young player so i wasn't overly harsh in my criticism at the time but i genuinely don't remember it being as bad as it was made out at the time. There were a lot of comments about him having his hand up sweeping his fringe away at the time but christ almighty if he can't handle comments like that then he needs a thicker skin.
The criticism Spittal received was worse imo. Despite contributing more to the team (again just my opinion).

It's all about opinions but Fraser's currently making a good career for himself in England while Spittals a squad player at Ross County, tells it's own story really.

Agree with this in parts. I reckon one of our worst ever players was possibly the bravest I've ever seen. Aaron Kuhl. Awful football player, but to his credit he demanded the ball every second of every game, usually dropping to the edge of his own box at goal kicks to demand the ball.
The key to a great player and not an average player is to have both, Scott Fraser, much like other players to have 'decent' careers, for some reason Alexei Eremenko springs to mind with sharing the same position, is brave on the ball and is decent creatively. Off the ball, and against equally decent teams, he's found wanting defensively.
It's simple as that really.
