How many do you think we need to make before the window is out?
4 for me (Striker, left winger, Central attacking midfielder, and Centre Half).
I really hope we do some business this week.

The first 3 are absolute musts hoping Edwards solves the 4th, but I wouldn’t say no to another CH. these all need to be first picks, better than what we have signings too, none of this squad player signing pish.

Lack of a signing or two its rather obviou's don't you think.
And majority of Utd fans can see we are needing players in certain positions and have been for weeks now. Unfortunately these are taking time.

I'm a Wee bit on Utd's side here and unsure if we can get get the quality signings we need at a price we can afford. Any forward we sign is not gonna be in the £3 million bracket and to be fair that is the level they are goin,g to be judged at ( against LOA ). Creative midfielders are not sitting around waiting on a contract either. If the level we can afford is potentially not that much better than the youths were have coming through we might just have to be patient and accept that's where we are at this season.

We are 5 plus players short. It's a big ask but Asghar needs to get his finger out pronto. Also still getting bad vibes about Shankland for some reason.

Left winger and big striker absolutely essential. A ball carrying/box-box/creative midfielder too.

And if we're being honest, at least one centre half. Too many mistakes from that area. Don't like to be too critical because we've made a decent ish start, but I'm now hoping it's glaringly obvious to Asghar and Mellon where the issues are.

Paranoia maybe? How many times? The laddie is injured, no cunt has made a bid for him.

Nae need for the tone.
Possibly paranoia.
You know this for absolute certain do you?

“Nothing imminent” according to Mellon

Thing is, we've not got any control over the situation, and the club aren't going to come out and tells us we're signing anyone soon, even if it's obvious to us where the team needs on the pitch.
What I'm wondering is whether anyone from the club scans boards and (!)Twitter(!): I'm sure they do, it might even be part of the degree course at Manchester Metropolitan
In fact, I wonder if they post on the boards trying to gauge opinions, under cover. My money's on Nommi57.

Seen that.
Saying he is more focused on getting this group of players to where they need to be.
Reading between the lines i honestly think they are holding off signing players the now in case Shankland goes this window and there is a bit more money to play around with.
If that is the case it's a gamble to take because.
1) We are going to lose more points in the interim due to the squad being under strength in key positions
2) No-one might even come in for him and/or offer the money we think he's worth
I don't think it's fair to say this kind of talk about Shankland is 'paranoia'. Something definitely feels amiss regards him and our lack or signings. And i know i am not alone in that.

I am astonished we have not signed a striker or a left winger yet, mellon has been in job for 2 months Monday, I absolutely love playing youth but today and future gems we’ll get found out

Quality post BMT. You've got it in one.

I don't comment on every thread, gave that up years ago. But is anyone surprised by the lack of transfer movement? The economic climate has changed in football, we have lost income streams so far this season without away fans etc.. Had a long period without no income (lockdown), we are a business at the end of the day. Our owner has other business interests, not just us.
I do wonder if we had hoped a bid would have came in for Shankland to relive the pressure on the finances, but looks like his recurring ankle injury has come back, which is a worry.
You're maybe not far wrong UniDundee.Posters on here are being accused of paranoia over Shankland & there maybe are machinations. (Like why was he listed in the Scotland squad only to be de-listed promptly?) Maybe there is something up but then again maybe not & don't bet against a Shankland brace at Ibrox in a fortnight.
Oh wait a minute, TRFC 2012 are on an 8-yr shutout record...

No tone intended, just get bored of reading this kind of stuff. The club and the player have both said he is injured, pulled out of the Scotland squad due to it. Who ever heard of a player not playing for 4 weeks due to a possible transfer away? If it was this he'd be away already, why on earth would it take this amount of time to do a deal while we still pay his wages? Clubs would either agree a deal or we tell them to jog on. Really don't understand why people would think this is anything other than exactly what's been stated.

Doesn't always have to be as black and white as that. If we've told anyone to jog on, maybe Shankland has gone in the huff and is refusing to play. Just a theory, but not impossible in my opinion. No doubt I'm doing the guy a huge disservice by suggesting that as he has always come across as extremely professional, but who knows. Remember, we're only fans, and anyone that says they know 100% what the script is, is lying. We speculate,we give our opinion, and sometimes we even make shit up.
I know for a fact he loves being at the club and living in the area but things change. Again, just my opinion and a feeling I have, but everything isn't quite as it's being stated.
Apologies if that doesn't quite match your take on things.
