Synthetic pitches

I see Harrogate Town are having to ground share with Doncaster for the start of their first-ever season in the EFL. Beating Notts County in the play-off on Sunday for entry into Lge 2 means they've to relay their synthetic pitch with real grass. They have to live with it, going to miss the 'community' benefit etc but the situation is somewhat relieved by a grant from the EFL to pay for it. I had a notion it was just the top two tiers in the EFL who had to play on grass.

Makes me wonder, would the SPFL insisting that Prem teams had to play on grass be a step too far? The current 25% ratio of plastic pitches in the Prem is well hefty.

Can't forget Hamilton during the half-time interval watering the half they were to be attacking in the 2nd half in the play-off game three years ago, it still rankles. Their winning goal, the only goal of the tie, was a 25-yard zipper whilst Simon & Co ploughed a dry furrow. As if having an artificial pitch isn't a big-enough advantage as it is without having to doctor it at half time.

Re: Synthetic pitches

100% total joke that the top level of Scottish football allows teams to play on these pieces of shit.

I totally get it for league 1 and 2. Championship upwards should not be allowed.

Re: Synthetic pitches

If the game is allowed on a fake grass surface, maybe we should be allowed to pay fake money to watch.
