I watched a fair bit of top league football for the first time in a long time this weekend - haven't had the heart to do so with United not in it, but thought we could do with a thread on the other teams.
Celtic - are clearly going to be the team to beat - way ahead of us and any game v them is going to be damage limitation.
Rangers - wasn't that impressed although again taking any points off them is going to be hard.
Aberdeen - looked pretty poor to be honest. Maybe on a downward trajectory?
Hamilton - despite getting cuffed I thought they looked OK - not sure they'll be bottom.
St Mirren - a Goodwin like big strong team - maybe they are going to come good this year.
Livingston - not surprisingly lost away from home but also look decent.
St Johnstone - Davidson did well to get them back in the match second half, but not really much between us and them and think we'll be around about them in the league by the end. Not sure where that will be though...
Hibs - looked good - think Ross will have them at the top end challenging for third.
Killie - wasn't that impressed, but again think they'll be wise enough not to finish bottom
Motherwell and Ross County tonight. Suspect Motherwell will be jousting with Hibs for third. So hope Ross County are mince as we may need them to be...
It is so good to be back where we belong...

Are motherwell on sky tonight?
I'll be watching with interest to see how they shape up given we have them next up. I reckon we will compete with most teams once we get used to the level we are now playing at. Obviously Celtic and their ugly little sister will be a level above but I just want to see United fight tooth and nail in every game against them. Aberdeen are not as strong as they used to be, I also see Hibs having a good season now they have signed all of our original targets. Would love a win next weekend to get us up and running.

Yeah, it's on Sky main channel I think.

Motherwell didn't impress me much. Not sure why we think this level is that much better than the championship, certainly should be able to compete with the majority of the teams I'd say.
They looked awful & Robinson looled seek.
Potential of a backlash on Saturday?
Ross Co looked shite as well mind.
Looked awful like a C'ship game from last season.

From what I seen, County wanted to spoil the game as a contest. Probably the right tactic for them as a team playing against Motherwell. When you're Ross County, you can do these things without criticism, us less so. I think Mellon will have a plan for Saturday but it won't be as agricultural as RC so I would expect a better Motherwell performance and a bit of a backlash.
Seedorf looked very lively when he came on so Robson will need to have another good game.
Aberdeen have eight players self isolating for up to 14 days as two players have tested positive for COVID 19. I'm not sure if this involves any first team players.

Just watch the Sevco hordes moan if there are first team players given one of the games is against Celtic.

Yes I was thinking that too. It may just be Fringe players that are affected but it could be half their first team. It'll be interesting to hear more details.

I think we should all be worried by this development

Supposedly a few of their players all out for a piss-up in the pub that has been declared a source of the latest outbreak up there.
Unbelievably unprofessional of them. Their supporters going to town with the players.
And understandably so.

Hopefully Mellon bans nights out before it's our turn
The Courier's suggesting it's 8 Dons first team players that are self- isolating. Assuming there are no more positive cases today the game will go ahead. Aberdeen may have a seriously weakened squad for the Saints game and the next two fixtures.
Aberdeen FC came within a hair's breadth of being placed on lock down for the next two weeks. As the Aberdeen region is in lock down and quarantined this is a reminder that our health is very much still threatened by the virus.
From a public health standpoint there is every possibility that other regions may face lock downs in the future. We all have to keep practising social distancing to stop this virus from spreading. If we don't we risk the lives of our friends and families and as fans our chances of getting back into football grounds this year becomes less likely.

Absolutely HAS to be the case.
I understand the players are human beings like us all and need a release btw. I wouldn't be even against them all having a few beers together as a team in someone's house. As long as it's not out mingling with hundreds of other revellers.
This season is precarious enough and could be literally halted at any minute by the Scottish Government if things go South.
No-one wants that.

Do Aberdeen deserve some credit for 'telling on themselves'? I can think of some clubs who might only have told the two positive test players to self isolate, and have claimed to have misunderstood the situation, as I have to an extent.
The two have have tested positive, would they not have been in contact with the majority of the squad and staff in training anyway, over and above the night at the pub?

In my many years of socialising in Dundee hostelries I have never witnessed a prevelance of professional football players frequenting them. Indeed, I think the vast majority of them avoid them like the plague,...woops,... sorry

When footballers go out it's usually to try and get their hole rather than get pished.

Well unless their tackle is 2 metres long then that's also unsafe 😂

Not sure what vintage you are, but you've been drinking in the wrong places. In my day United and Dundee players were out every weekend. Where do you think the nickname Red-Stripe Ray comes from...

Pretty daft of these boys to go to a packed pub. Fair enough for them to go for a bite to eat and a couple of beers in a restaurant - but they must have known that a packed pub would be off-limits and I can't imagine that hadn't been made clear to them in advance.
I think it is the right thing to 'punish' them by continuing with the games. I also think there will be internal punishment that we won't hear much about. I hope that others learn from this - and I don't just mean footballers...

Without putting too fine a point on it...

Perhaps more in the past Finn, I don't see nor hear about any of them going to pubs these days. Too many nutters. I do remember however getting snogged by Charlie Miller in Tallys one Sunday evening. All I said to him was that the girl he was chatting up was my daughter!!
