Re: Vs St Johnstone match thread

When O'Halloran got his marching orders on Saturday I must admit I saw the three points staring me in the face.
I think the players did too, it was on the stroke of half-time and maybe had them looking forward to a second half breeze.
It might take us a few games to aquire a Prem Lge mental toughness, there was an element of naivety about our performance on Saturday.
Having said that I did like the look of a lot of what I saw, it already has a Mellon-feel about it.

I thought we were the better team but a lack of creativity in CM and a brain fart at the back stopped what should've been a comfortable 2 or 3  - nil win.

My only, perhaps controversial, take is that I'm not convinced Harkes is the man many make him out to be. I didn't think much of him in the Championship and didn't think he was very good today either, and an almost catastrophic Mark Kerr esque passback summed up his day.

Other than that, pass marks all round... Well... Apart from Connoly

Harkes makes Premiership team of the week...

I thought Harkes had an excellent game, if the rest of the team had shown the same energy at the goal we might not even be debating Connolly's poor clearance.

Re: Vs St Johnstone match thread

How come I can remember Harkes' 60-yard run (evading a foul scything tackle) & shot on goal which if it had gone in would have been a very early candidate for goal of the season & how come I can remember his being on the ball more than any other player on either side but I can't remember his Mark Kerr-esque backpass to the goalie?
I must be biased.

I remarked on how well Harkes was showing up at one point in the first half, and can mind his pass back, but it was in a crowded situation where he possibly couldn't turn with the ball, nothing like the Mark Kerr mistake. He just played it slightly short, Benji dealt with it. That's not to say I didn't feel tension at that point!

Cannae agree with the excuses being made for the mistake at the goal though.

Finally, great organisation and display bowers and the Display Team, and thanks for your assistance and work.

Said it on here somewhere before.
Think Harkes will be one of these players who plays better against better players rather than get dragged down by shite in diddy division.
