This will backfire on us appointing Mackay. I wont be going to games, and I wouldn't be surprised if sponsors start pulling out too. This isn't a guy that made a one off remark, this is a guy that sent a series texts of racist, homophobic & antisemitic messages for a year to Cardiff staff.
There is a reason why no one has touched him, plus he has made a mess of Project Brave, many clubs have pulled out & his record isn't outstanding for the mess that this will create. He was sacked at Wigan after only getting 19 points out a possible 72, and their sponsors withdrew their support, fans were opposed to the idea, they now wish they stayed clear.
Huge pressure on the club, community trust if he is appointed.

Above all nae respect for uglies and consistent wins against the rest.
Wright you'D think the favorite now Barraclough has got NI job. Somebody on here said something along the lines of no liking him cause he didnae pay us compliments - boo hoo. Exactly how I want our manager to react to Uglies and any other Premier League team.
McLaren - be amazed but again nae respect for Uglies.
Strachan even got a mention - I'd love to get him because he's such a complete little cunt. Been a winner at Dons, Man U, Celtic , even did no bad wi' the poison chalice. Lastly his Director of Football roll at the Fun - wtf is that !? - long as he didnae upset the tea lady.
We shall see . ..
I thought Pastor Jack Glass was dead.

The FA enquiry found 3 texts out of 9,000.
I'm saddened by what I'm reading on here.
Hope you get your refunds.

Mackay was then backed by kick it out in 2017.

I've heard some of our supporters sing songs of support around rape allegations, now it's I'm no going but because he said.....
Snowflake/ desperate to be offended or whatever you want to call it. What he said is mild compared to what I've heard in and around football grounds over the last 50yrs.
This may not go down well but he is a much nicer person than JYM our greatest manager
Despite that I hope he dosent get it.

I won't be the only one, massive divide on social medias and just in general chatting to my Utd friends. Is this divide what we need? It's a massive gamble, with huge PR consequences, divide in the support and the potential of sponsors pulling out, if it doesn't pay off then Ashgar will be following Mackay out the door.

A bit of clarity of Mackay: I doubt many fans are actually offended by his texting mistakes, it's the bad image appointing him would cause the club which is a problem. My initial reaction when he was suggested (post #210) suggested that was a minor reason for me not wanting him at Tannadice.
I'm actually surprised that he has support on here, as I can't see his record being great, disregarding his time at Cardiff which was backed, for the most part, by Vincent Tan's millions, until Mackay overspent in summer 2013, which set off alarm bells for Tan. Subsequently Iain Moody, and then Mackay, were sacked, with the text messages revealed as being a reason.
Look into it all, and examine Mackay's record at other clubs.

Surely it's not just me, but I reckon if you were to look at the content of WhatsApp/texts messages of any male aged 45+, then it's arguable that none of them would ever work again.

Seems to be 3 camps of fans when it comes to Mackay:
1) disgusted and asking for refunds
2) would still support the team but would prefer he wasnt appointed due to how it looks from the outside and the potential division of the support
3) dont give a fuck about his past and just want the best man for the job. I must say there are 1 or 2 comments ive seen from people in this camp that have been pretty distasteful. However it is certainly a minority.
Fwiw I am in camp 2. If he gets the job, I'll still be there to support my team. I would just rather we went for someone else.

As per your post #261..online it appears I'm not alone in wondering about going to Tannadice if he gets the job. Will United be up for giving refunds on season tickets, for I don't want to be paying his wages?
Is your reason behind this thinking his past text messages or his managerial record?
On his record as manager think everyone will be well aware that he done a job with Cardiff and was quite poor with Wigan after that. But with Wigan wasn't there alot of problems with them at the time?

You miss camp 4.
Those who are fully aware (do give a fuck in your parlance) of any misgivings in the past but with due consideration would welcome him into Tannadice.

This is literally the worst arguement out there and so many seem to be clinging to it. Tells you a lot more about the type of person someone is if I'm honest.
He is looking to be the manager of a professional football club which has over 5000, mostly working class, people spending hundreds of pounds over the course of a season that go towards his wages.
It's a load of shite. The whole rehabilitated arguement holds plenty of merit. And thats the reason he is obviously being considered. If he gets the job and in the announcement Ashgar says: yes he has made mistakes but many people have said worse - fucking hell he'd get slaughtered and quite rightly.
I dont want him as the manager. If he is the manager, I'll go to the games because of how much I love United. I'll support him on the pitch, but I just dont think the off the pitch hassle is what we need. The support is already divided on it.

Carlisle Arab makes a very whimsical but nevertheless very valid point mate, don't hang your jacket on it. Hypocricy is alive & well... .

Also camp 4 as people ought to be given the chance to atone for their mistakes. MM has undergone a rehabilitation program so give the man a chance I say

Its not valid at all tbh Smedz in my opinion. Its correct that many will have said much worse. It doesnt make it a valid point.
