Not liking the way it talks about Shanks to Rangers and tbh the only way we are affording these guys is if we are moving on Shanks...
Do you honestly think the Ipswich media has inside knowledge of whether we plan to sell Shankland? It's just lazy journalism.
I also disagree strongly that we are only going to be able to afford these guys if we get rid of Shankland. Let's try having a bit of faith in the hierarchy maybe?I beg to differ. Guys in the Ipswich first team squad will at least be taking home what Shankland (our highest earner) does. Also Ogren is rich, but he's no JR Ewing. Our pockets don't have unlimited depth and we are not going to rolling out the dollars for boys that we don't think we can get a return on Norwood doesn't fit that bill, but maybe he does if we are desperately needing a new CF...
I agree with the lazy journalism point but lazy journalism isn't necessarily wrong unfortunately - maybe not to Rangers but to others.
I just think Ogren is smarter than that and would prefer to sell him once he's proved himself at this level. None of us really know how deep his pockets are and how strong his resolve is either.

That is Ryan Edwards arrival now confirmed.

Ryan Edwards confirmed on the official. Strangely doesn't say how long his deal is though.
Welcome to United Ryan 👍

I wonder if there will still be any interest in the defender from Ipswich now he has arrived or if it was going to be one or the other of the defenders.

So have we signed him from Blackpool then? If so i wonder if a fee was involved or if Blackpool have just allowed him to be released to sign for us.
I wish the lad all the best. Played in England all his days so a big decision to uproot his life and family and come up North.
I read he survived cancer though. So we have a fighter on our hands.

He will be well used to playing in tangerine at least.

I think he was just allowed to leave for free mate going by what Scott Burns and 1 or 2 others have posted.
Didnt know he was a cancer survivor. Fair play to the lad, excited to see what he can bring to the table.

So I think for the time being we can relax about that one.
East football have pretty much sold him already 😂
Where about? I’m on there most days and haven’t seen any sign of this.

Aye, all the best to him, looks like a solid unit. He played for Plymouth for a couple of years, and I'm thinking Liverpool or Blackpool to Plymouth will be around the same time distance as coming up to Dundee. Maybe he'll retain his base down in that area, I'm not sure if he has a family to uproot.

I can't remember exactly when but there has been regular chat about it, might have been when we were linked to their players possibly? Some posters there ( and here tbf) can only see negatives in everything united

Yeah, I'm guilty of it myself of course but after four years of championship misery I'm willing to give this team a chance to come good under the new manager.
We've had an awful preseason thanks to Budge so I was always expecting a slow start. First point on the board though and I'm sure there's plenty of ups and downs to come, but I think it will turn out well.

Welcome Ryan.
Cannae see Shanks moving till January due to Covid / Money situation both in terms of money Ogren would expect to make and money Huns have to spend.
Cannae see why he would want to warm the iPox bench. ( Even if he's a Huns supporter )
If he's any sense he'll get out of Scotland's fishbowl and move South.

Daily record reporting that Mellon is about to launch a loan bid for Norwood, I'd be happy with that. Unlikely to be match fit though.
Edit to say, the same article says our interest in the Ipswich defender Toto something is dead now we've signed Edwards.

Scored 32 goals for Tranmere in 2018/19.

Looks lethal. Let's hope the loan deal goes ahead.
Seems a strange one.
Why would he want to come here?
a) Ipswich need him & wouldn't want him to go
b) he'll be earning twice as much there

Possibly because he's coming back from injury, maybe benefit his parent club for him to get games? No gamble really on our part either.

a) had a couple injury issues recently
b) loan deal = he’ll earn the same regardless
So is the SPFL Prem a rehab centre?
Maybe it's a personality issue. 'The best I've ever played was under MM at TRFC'.
'Wouldn't mind giving it a go up in Jockland to reignite my mojo under him'.

Great - I hope he does!!

With Edwards signing - do we reckon that is our central defensive business done?
Connolly, Edwards and Reynolds with Neilson and Graham fringe youngsters and Butcher as emergency backup?
I would imagine with Micky clearly comfortable to stick Neilson in (you'd assume the same with Graham) that our business will be done. And going by what Scott Burns said about our interest in the Ipswich centre back (its off the table now that Edwards has signed) I think that signals the end of our centre back search.
It would appear we are now onto a striker, fine by me, good to see Micky agrees with the majority of supporters in terms of knowing what we need.
A loan deal for Norwood may happen but it could take a few weeks. It may depend on whether Ipswich acquire their targetted strikers. Norwood scored 11 goals for Ipswich last season despite having recurring groin problems. While this might be considered a decent haul given the circumstances it may be viewed by the club's management as a disappointing tally given that he scored 32 the season before at Tranmere. If they get their strikers in then we may be able to do business.

Scott Burns also confirmed that Ilmari Niskanen is still on the radar, along with a number of other wingers. It would seem our business is far from done! Good to hear.

Yeah Mellon saying in the Record that we’re still working on more signings.
