Failed to agree a contract extension due to them wanting to cut his wage. If that's the case I can't see us being able to pay him anywhere near enough. Non starter I reckon.

So the guy who started this rumour on here still hasn't been back to say where its come from. No one on any other board is any the wiser either, I'm beginning to get the scent of bullshit 🙄

Apparently the rumour has been dispelled by the ever reliable Scott Burns on twitter so we can put the notion to bed now.

Noticed earlier Scott Burns in a tweet hinting that United was looking to work on a transfer before the Saints game but I cant seem to find it now.

Mentioned that it was complicated and up in the air so I wonder who it could have been if indeed there is a move ongoing.

It was a fan page on Twitter saying he had been speaking to him via DM.

If it is true then he fact its complicated and up in the air tells me its either a transfer fee involved or its someone abroad (or both).

Of course, Nadir Ciftci could too, his contract isn't up until Monday coming. Wouldn't be a huge fee in that case.

I think Shankland would turn down a move there knowing he'd be a 2nd or 3rd choice striker plus he kens they are a fkn circus that might have major financial problems on top of all the shite that goes with them.

I’m no too sure about the animosity with the Huns now. I would imagine it would come down to the managers decisions in the end and I think Gerrard and Mellon are on good terms from their times in Liverpool.

Tend to agree with JA on this. We played a pre-season game against Rangers and the hierarchy of both clubs has changed significantly.

Gerrard saying in the papers today Jones can still force his way into the first team picture.

A lot of future moves will depend on bigger clubs making signings and seeing which players are then surplus.

Thing is, if Scott Burns is the source then it usually can be trusted. Apparently he said that Rangers wont do business with us, as far as I'm concerned that's good news.

I'd also imagine that Gerrard would say that, helps when someone is sniffing around one of your players if you make it sound like they are worth keeping.
