In light of Clark's bad injury?
I say YES.
Put's too much pressure now on Shankland to be our sole source of goals up top.

Wouldn’t be against it, but I’d rather we went for a left winger, which would let us push Appere up top. Might make us rethink letting Cammy Smith go, though I get the feeling Neilson doesn’t rate him.

There is 3 players who could potentially play LW (Appere, Pawlett and Sporle).
I think our need for another forward is greater tbh.

I said this to s couple of mates earlier.. i wonder if they will keep hold of Cammy Smith now instead of loaning him out?
They may see it as a waste of cash with Sow back also.
Me personally i would like another in. Be an idea to try and get a summer forward target in this month.

If its true we have snapped up Forrest from Ayr on a pre contract then I can see us trying to bring him in early

If we can get any of our summer targets in just now, we should do it. Gives them an extra 6 months to bed in.
Don’t see a huge need for any short term fixes tbh, Glass can also play behind the striker, I was really impressed with him today, once the likes of Harkes, Butcher and Stanton are back, we can push him further forward and give him a good run of games in there.
You’re unlikely to find a striker in January that’ll get up to speed quickly anyway, we’d most likely have the league wrapped up by the time he did, so think it’d be a pretty pointless signing tbh, would rather we just adapt and go with what we have.
Wouldn’t be against us getting Nisbet in though, looks like he could be a readymade replacement for Shankland’s inevitable departure.

Be a good idea.
Offer them Cammy Smith in return.

I’d look to bring in Forrest or another striker.
Sow, I’m 99% sure, will get injured again.
The Forrest - C Smith idea would be the way to go

If we beat Hibs on Sunday, we must sign a Striker.
Fuck potentially going to Ibrox, Parkhead or Pittodrie with just Shankland as our recognised Striker.
Or worse, he get's injured. I shudder to think how we'd fare, despite our current run.
Utd seem to be casting aside the 'joke club' tag we'd inflicted upon ourselves these past 4 seasons (self-inflicted).
Let's not go fucking back to that, if we can help it.
I want a strong as fuck Dundee Utd on all fronts going forward until seasons end.

I was impressed with Glass last week at QOTS glad he done well again yesterday.
Also agree with you regarding Nisbet from Dunfermline. Make a move for him before someone else does.

Nisbet is on a 3 year deal, other clubs above our level will easily spend more than we will. I'd forget about him unless the unthinkable happens and we sell Lord Shankland.

We wont sell him this window but in the summer i think he will be away. Surely it would be in our best interests to make a move for a replacement now if possible.
Not a great window for bringing anyone in so if he's fit and if his attitude is right I'd use Sow - after all were stuck with him,and him with us, until the season's end and he badly needs to put himself in the shop window.
If not I'd rather we looked to a loan deal.

I'd only sign a striker if he would be challenging Shankland for a starting slot next season.

Shankland won't be here next season.
Unless he gets injured.

What?
I reckon our Head Coach has the unenviable task of picking a starting XI for the remainder of the season from the following 20 players. Unenviable cos 4 of them won't even make the bench. 4 given that Mehmet takes up one subbie space.
SIEGRIST
L.SMITH
WATSON
REYNOLDS
CONNOLLY
ROBSON
SPORLE
FREEMAN
BUTCHER
POWERS
HARKES
KING
GLASS
McMULLAN
PAWLETT
STANTON
SHANKLAND
C. SMITH
APPERE
SOW
Do we need another forward? Probably not. Nicky Clark's misfortune is an opportunity for Cammy Smith & Sow. The squad is looking decent.

SmedDUm, 7 subbies are allowed.
Given the January market can be difficult, maybe a loan striker would be the only target. Or perhaps Pavol?

Pavol on loan.

Sorry Pat, so that should 3 won't even make the bench.
Chris Mochrie should be on the list too, he even came on y'day & should have scored.

For now, let's just win the league asap and we can build for next season, but the squad strength is a concern for me , there's a few on long deals.

There's a few who haven't cut it in the top league, have never played there, or age/pace/ability could hinder them.
Tangerine - Good enough
Blue - Untested/Risk
Red - Thanks, but cheerio
Expect that a few in red might cause a stir, but we're not playing Painters, Posties Butchers and Candlestick makers next season.

So by your reckoning there are only 5 players in this current squad good enough to play in Prem? Sorry to burst your bubble mate but all of them bar a handful WILL be the nucleus of our squad next year.

I know that, but we're playing football manager here, clean slate, who would you keep, release, how many based on all available information we have, would you have as starters when we go up?
The squad we have, with a few additions, survives, but is that the height of the club's ambition?
Of the blue players, only Reynolds and Connolly have played there (I think) so the rest are untested.
Just a bit of fun, I accept there might not be wholesale changes,

YES
The squad's a bit of a collective this season, I think we have as happy a changing room as we've had for a good few seasons.
So if we do go up I think we can stick with the bulk of the squad and aim for success built on team spirit. I'd like to see the majority sticking around for a couple more seasons & see what togetherness can do for a team.
