Re: Morton v Dundee United (Tuesday, 10/12/2019)

Wasnt there last night unfortunately but another 3 points in the bag and at a tricky place with poor conditions.
Sounded scrappy but we got the win and we are sitting in a pretty good place just now.

Brilliant to see the players giving their shirts to fans at the end

We can blow it but William Hill has us at 1/5 to say it's highly unlikely.
BBC Scottish Football webpage says 11 wins from our last 20 games gives us more points than the last two season's champions Hibs & Ross County.
Last night was a good rehearsal for Baltic Gayfield but I see Saturday's forecast is relatively calm. 4 degrees, light cloud & a fresh breeze.
Settle for our third 2-1 in a row.

Don't get me wrong i'm feeling optimistic (yes, even me) about winning the title outright.

But wee things like that still make me feel a tad uneasy.

I don't want anything taken for granted till we are lifting that trophy.

Hopefully the players don't pay attention to all this won it already shite.
Think no further ahead than Gayfield.

I'm sure they are professional enough not to get carried away. But we can have a wee bit indulgence maybe.

39 points from 16 matches projects as 87.75 points for the season. Cannae see us getting into the 80s being honest, but that's been fine form so far.

As some on here may know I’m quite often glass half empty. But 3 wins to end December and the title is in the bag, if it isn’t already.

Re: Morton v Dundee United (Tuesday, 10/12/2019)

With a 10 point lead I am very optimistic that we can go on and win the league now.  However you just need to look back at the Alloa and Ayr away games and remember how inept we were in those games.  Lose a couple and ICT keep winning and they are right back in it.

The oldest cliche in the book but we just need to take each game as it comes and look to keep racking up the wins.

Really can't see Ayr or the FUN (obviously) catching us now, Dunfermline on a great run at the moment but ICT are the biggest danger to us by far.

Re: Morton v Dundee United (Tuesday, 10/12/2019)

I'd agree that the league is nowhere near won yet.  However, winning the next 3 games each in their own way can put a real psychological dent into the other teams in the league and two of the opponents in particular:

Winning on Saturday could really dent the confidence of others in the league because of the way everyone else is struggling against Arbroath, particularly at Gayfield.  Beating them there sends out a message.

Winning against Ayr probably ends their chances of automatic promotion.  It would also be good for us to send a message out to them and Wee Jobby who spends most of his time on BBC Sportsound telling everyone how Ayr are miles better than us.

Finally, beating the Fun effectively ends their chances of automatic promotion and sends them ever closer to the play-offs.  The relegation play-offs that is.

Yep I'd agree with this. I'd also add that in winning the next 3 I'd also be confident that Inverness will drop at least another 3 points by then. Thirteen points clear by new year would in my opinion be virtually impossible for anyone to overturn and allow us to play without the constant pressure on the players that's been hovering over us since our relegation season.

Re: Morton v Dundee United (Tuesday, 10/12/2019)

That's a very good point Ads. Should the situation arise, that we'd all but won the league, I'd look forward to see us playing with some freedom. Cos you're right, pressure has been shackling the players for 4 seasons now & it's a lot to live with. I do say SHOULD the situation arise, there's a L...O...N...G... way to go.
