First half was poor.
2nd half much better and showed some dig and fight.
Totally deserved the 3 points in the end.
Shankland again showing that if we give him service he will do the rest.

Of course, as was pointed out in my later post 😉

All that pissing around at the back just has to stop though, it's not like we are even any good at it and most of our problems stem from us giving the ball away in our own half
Much better performance in the second half. In the first half we created very few opportunities. McMullan couldnt make a pass and kept giving the ball away. He is a player with poor technique but he improved in the second half by keeping it simple- get to the byline before the fullback and try to cross it. It was good to see Pawlett back and he did well when he came on. The team has flaws in midfield and in defence. I fear we might lose a barrowload of goals from crosses as both centre backs seem weak in the air and Seigrist is reluctant to come for crosses. Lets hope we can get in a dominant centre half before long.

Player ratings last night.
Sigriest- not at fault for goal, made a great save 2nd half from Saunders header. Apart from that had not much else to do - 7 Smith- Defended well, got forward more 2nd half-7 Connolly- Early booking is always a worry, 2nd half won every header - 7
Reynolds- had a couple of scary moments, much better 2nd half- 7 Robson- motm performance, up and down the line all game, great assist - 9 McMullan- poor 1st half, much better 2nd, good assist, unlucky not to score- 8 Butcher - won a lot of challenges, kept the ball well- 7
Offline
Stanton - tried to get things going 1st half, lack of movement. 2nd half drove the team forward- 8 Clark- Quiet game, not his best - 6 Appere- worked hard, much better 2nd half - 7 Shankland- worked hard, good finish, he's going to score plenty this season - 9
Pawlett- sharp, quick, good movement, made a huge difference- 8 Harkes- solid when he came on, looked really sharp too- 7

1st half, frustrating as fuck, fair play to the manager and players for getting their act together in the 2nd, much improved attitude and application, deserved the win in the end.

I think its the exact opposite mate.
Connolly and Reynolds are the dominant centre backs we've missed since going down. Maybe not always pretty on the deck but both very good 'defenders' at this level. Bouhenna was pretty on the deck but as a centre half he wasnt good at the actual defending side of things.
Benji had some issues last season with crosses but its clearly been worked on and he's not put a foot wrong in terms of crosses recently.

Spot on LEK - not a velvet touch Markland.
The Mark Brothers can get us promoted.
Glad Connolly has changed his look, can tell them apart now.

I'm thinking the two Marks should try and aim for opposition players when they attempt to pass out from the back. Might turn out better.
I don't think the Marks are either dominant or an improvement on recent centre backs. The lack of height in our defence is worrying. Last night was a good result but I wouldnt be over confident of promotion this season and for me the defence has serious flaws. The Marks are part of the problem: both are weak in the air and embarrasing on the ground.

Huge win last night. Poor defending at times too much fucking about at the back also. Good going forward again.
