Re: January transfer window

My ONLY gripe with the Cammy Smith reported fee, is that he's out of contract in the summer.

Re: January transfer window

maybe we were preparing to pay off Curran and Dundee agreed to take up his contract?
maybe Ogren’s making funds available like he said?
maybe Neilson just really wants him now?

who knows, but sounds like he’s on his way today and is match fit too. Straight in this weekend.

He is yet right but we need players now.

I agree, and I back this signing!

Re: January transfer window

Celtic knock back St Mirren loan bid for Ralston, Celtic don’t want him to leave this window.

Hope Neilson is looking for a right back.

Papers have us in for Osman Sow today. Neilson not taking too many risks in this window.

Possibly just a lazy made-up link due to him being at MK Dons.

But that for me is exactly the type of player we need i.e. tall, physical, athletic.

If Hearts hadn't sold him for 7 figures to that Chinese club i reckon he would have ended up at Celtic or The Rangers.

Scored 23 times for Hearts in 51 matches.

Appears to have major injury problems including one that cost him a move back to Herz

If fit great but big, big risk...

Re: January transfer window

I’m sure our medical team can give him a thorough check and a professional opinion

Re: January transfer window

The only way we would get a player of his talent is if he came with some major baggage, such as massive injury problems. You don't get sold for £1m and end up in the Scottish 2nd tier 3 years later unless you've got issues. It would be a gamble no doubt about it.

Yeah, just looking at his injury record there, and it doesn’t make for great reading. Sometimes that’s the only way you get boys of his ability to come to our level though.

A deal till the end of the season wouldn’t be a massive gamble on our part, as long as we get our other attacking targets in such as Smith, so that we aren’t relying on Sow keeping fit.

Re: January transfer window

Did we not get offered Craig Gordon a few years ago and knocked him back because of his injury history?
Sometimes you have just got to take a calculated risk

Re: January transfer window

Osman Sow played 71 minutes for MK Dons u23s today and got a goal..

Re: January transfer window

Have we burnt our boats with Hertz following the Souttar row?

I wouldn't have thought so, we have a completely new regime in charge these days that had nothing to do with any of that

Levein has a big squad there, just wondering if he might let a player go that would improve us

I'd imagine he has a good relationship with RN so can't see any reason why he wouldnt

Re: January transfer window

I know the club are working on signings but the lack of signings so far is a wee bit disappointing.

I'd like to see at least 2 more In sharpish and hopefully see a wee bounce in out next game... neither county or Ayr have made any sort of move in the last month.

Re: January transfer window

Agree. The way Neilson spoke after the Alloa game was like he’d been targeting players from October. I know it’s a process and an ever changing one at times, but I expected 2/3 in by now.

Hopefully in the next couple of days we have around 2 more in and in Saturdays squad.

Re: January transfer window

He has made a cunt of it ripping the players apart and no having 4 players ready to sign last week imo

Re: January transfer window

Apparently we are hoping for a triple reveal later this week.  I read that on another forum, but I have no idea if its true.

Oooooohhhh yeeeeeaaaaaah!!

Re: January transfer window

I also read that we were hoping to have Cammy Smith signed by Friday last week and then he was meant to sign yesterday and it doesn't look like that has happened.

Re: January transfer window

Wouldn't say he's made a **** of it but maybe regrets coming down so hard on the players.
I mean how many of the Naughty Steppers were included in the squad of 18 on Saturday?
Indeed how many were in the starting XI?
His post-Alloa comments could maybe be listed in a 'things I wish I'd never said' category.
Still love him tho, he's the right man.

Supposedly St.Mirren were willing to rip-up his contract and we were on the verge of signing him last week but at the 11th hour Ayr noted interest and now St.Mirren have moved the goalposts and want a fee.

I have to be honest i'm neither here nor there about Cammy Smith signing but if Neilson wants him it wouldn't look good on our new owners if we couldn't bring him to Tannadice for such a measly amount (25k).

Re: January transfer window

Courier stating they are hoping for 1 this week.

'Hope' doesn't fill me with joy. We need recruits. Rn will have burned his boats with a lot of these players and guessing the remaining players won't feel amazing either.

In saying that, maybe deals are being held up as everybody wants a slice of ogren cash. (Whether it's there or not) as RN has made a point of saying he wants 4-6 players.

I guess we will sign 3 on the last day of the window....

Re: January transfer window

Signing 3 on tbe last day is far too late for me.
We need boys this week.

Disagree. Deals you think are done have a nasty habit of sudden change.
