Was messing about with the voice thing on Sky Q and found highlights of these finals. Got me thinking - both excellent squads but what a difference in the games. 2010, i was confident all day long. St Johnstone, i knew we were beat. St Johnstone were fairly lucky - 1 of those days....
interesting how 2 similar teams can be so different

Have never (and will never) watched the 2014 Cup Final back.
We should have won that game fairly easily the squad we had.

watched 2014 reply a few weeks after it, so obvious that the shape of the team was wrong and st johnstone were easily able to stop us playing, after about ten minutes. Plus our defending at set pieces is appalling..
2010 is vintage viewing

The United shop was selling DVDs of the 2010 Cup Final a while back. Dont know if they've still got it. Like Tek, never watched any footage or highlights of the 2014 final at Porkdaed.

First time I'd seen it since. I always record finals but deleted it as soon as I got back.
Wright had the beating of McNamara - it was 1-0 Wright going on 10-0 but we were also unlucky. 2 off the woodwork and st Johnstone goals had a degree of luck about them too.
Mostly it's interesting how positive I was going into 1 and how little faith I had in the other...
Line-up was:
Cierzniak
Robertson
Dillon
Gunning
watson
Dow
Paton
Rankin
Armstrong
McKay Steven
Ciftci
Gauld and Graham came on as subs.
But a team consisting of Robertson, Armstrong, McKay Steven, gauld and ciftci lost to st fecking Johnstone... 😓

Alternatively You could say, a team consisting of Dow, Gunning, Dillon, Rankin, Paton and Graham lost to St Johnstone. Kind of easier to understand then

Gomis should have started that game.
Had an excellent game at Parkhead just 6 days before the Final.

Agreed. I had a bad feeling about the game when the team was announced without Gomis.
Idiot McNamara.
