Matty Smith ain't a forward imo.

Infact if anything i see him as more of a wide player who likes to get to the bye-line (albeit I've only seen the boy play 3 times).

Matty Smith is a forward, thats his position.

People can question the quality of our strikers but we've got four, three just signed and one promoted from the devs and I can't see us adding any more.

The injuries up front have been really unlucky so far but we only play one up top so will be well covered, in numbers anyway.

People used to say Dow was a striker.

He wasn't either.

Never heard anyone say Dow was a striker, but regardless, I'm not sure why you've got a hard on for Matty Smith not being a striker?

'hard-on'?

Just an observation on what I've seen from him thus far.

It's not just an observation though, you're snidely stating that there were people who said that Dow was a striker and they were wrong, likewise by me stating that Matty Smith is a striker I am wrong.

It's really not import and it's derailed the thread but regardless of what you think, and even what type of player he may become in the future, today - Matty Smith is 100% a forward.

That's not my opinion, that's his history as a footballer and where his manager thinks he will play for United so I'll leave it at that.

Re: Midfielder

First I heard Smith was a striker was when we had to throw him up top last week, I always thought he was a winger.

I long for the day when United players are not Jack of all trades and masters of none.

Actually challenging someone that says there wasn't terrorist activity in Dundee in 2003!
Don't think he knows what paramilitary is if he says they were using axes and knives - not really military equipment since the 15th century

Re: Midfielder

If we are after a midfielder does that suggest that Fraser might be going given  a move has been rumoured before, we're not exactly light in that department and he will be one of the few who could command a transfer fee, Seems a strange priority (to sign a midfielder) otherwise.

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Haha snide?I'm only stating my opinion Andy.

Back when i posted on Mad (remember that? 😉) i would often decry our lack of strikers and towards the end of every window would always say we need another Striker to which someone (and more than one person too) would always pipe up with 'i think we have adequate cover with Ryan Dow,Jordan Moore etc'.

It would frustrate me because i never from day one seen him as one.

I will be surprised if Smith plays as a lone Striker or even as a part of a front two partnership for Utd too often unless injury dictates otherwise.

I just have a feeling he will feature more in the attacking 3 of a 4231 or as a winger or what have you.

Though that's all it is 'a feeling'.

I've no hud names of clubs since January TEK war Charlton and Wigan both enquired, I'd imagine they could still be in the frame, but was told there was 1 Scottish club also, meh guess was Hearts.
