Questions - FU?
ARABtrust seen as too close to ST?
Anyone care to enlighten?

A new group being set up similar to foundation of hearts.
Thanks for that Bowers.
Interesting and IMO likely to be welcomed and a sign that people are getting serious about what is actually involved in replacing ST.
Any idea when some detail might begin to emerge?

All information will be revealed by them in the coming weeks.
They have already contacted thompson who told them it would never work.

John is a good guy, a lifelong United fan and very successful property developer.

The question is though are fans a) willing and more importantly b) are the able to afford to pay into a scheme like this? Dundee is not an affluent city. On the surface, I'd be happy to pay between £10-£15 a month in return for a say in the running of the club. However, when I factor in the £32 I pay each month for my season ticket plus the £5 I pay for Arabzone it suddenly starts to add up say between £47-£52 a month for United before you've even went to a home game, let alone an away game. I probably could afford it but, plenty of people won't be able to. How many people would a Foundation actually need to keep the club not just afloat, but prospering??? Will fans accept it if cuts need to be made and the football side suffers? Dundee fans couldn't and dropped their drawers to that shyster Melville.
I like the idea in principle but it can't be our only source of funding, the city can't afford it imho.

I very much doubt they will own the club.. More like an added investment from fans per year towards the club.
Minimum will be £10 per month.
The guys starting this up have been working on it since September.

I dont think its ever been the intention of guys to be the only source of funding or to own the club. They just want to help financially which is no bad thing.

Canadian arab.. Arabtrust are loosing members left right and centre they have an associate director who refuses to say anything overall they are scared to upset those at the top.
On the foundation starting up..can i add that this is an avenue that Fans United would have been going down eventually but after both groups hearing of the other FU guys got invited to the foundation meeting a couple of weeks back, the foundation guys then got invited to the FU meeting and gave those there a talk on all the info on it and got the backing from all in attendance.

Arabtrust AGM at the end of the month. No idea what's on the agenda but it probably should be getting asked. I usually go and put my tuppence worth in. I suspect there might be a few harsh questions getting asked this time on a number of issues.

I agree but I can't say I'd be all that happy about giving money to the present regime to mismanage.

Aye, cheers. This is why I think they need a change in direction to address the present issues, or they are quickly going to become irrelevant. If nothing else, they need to be a part of the conversations with these other groups on planning how to move forward.
They are irrelevant. Harsh? Maybe but lets be honest apart fae one previous chairman theyve never criticised the board. The position of the arabtrust associate director is pointless. Has he ever said anything in public??

Harsh, did he no release a completely non-minteresque statement about sectarian singing after we lost a game to rangers?? 😂

From the little bit I've heard about the foundation it's exactly what's needed as part of the solution.
Once the guys are ready to officially announce their intentions I'm sure plenty folk will want to get involved.
The other part of the solution might be much harder to find, but hopefully with this set up it'll make things a bit more appealing to larger investors.

The boys are working hard to set this up. Hearts took years to set one up, they done it to have cash available when eventually went tits up. The boys doing this are trying to get it up and running in a few months. If anyone has any questions fire away I'll see if I can get them to answer. Although they might want to wait until they have some solid answers.

Mind, it's not only Dundee that United's fans come from! It might be difficult to get the numbers hoped for, but if as well organised as it appears well intentioned, it might be an important lifeline in future.
As a suggestion, HH, and this might already be planned, would approaches be made to ex-players to contribute? Some might be keen to help out, if United have been a stepping stone to success.

They will be talking to ex players to try and help the foundation.
The guys are looking for any sort of suggestion to help with this.

Appears they have changed their name to "Dundee United Supporters Foundation Limited", plus have another 2 or 3 onboard.
Also, they have the same address as Balgillo Nursery School.
Interesting - That address is FourM Accountants which I think are related to Dand Carnegie. I heard a rumour at the weekend that Scott Carnegie is looking to oust ST in some way...

Aye GC, that's one of the addresses, but the other address is the same as Balgillo Nursery.
