Re: Summer Transfer Window

Update from the club around players leaving etc:

https://www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk/news/7320/DUNDEE-UNITED-SQUAD-UPDATE.html

Notable mentions:

Benji and McDonald away

Harkes and Neilson offered new deals

Flynn Duffy and Finn Robson also been offered new deals. Thought Duffy was already tied up but hope we get him over the line especially. Good wee player.

Also a big bunch of youngsters that have mostly been out on loan this year are now away. All the best to them on their future careers!

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Current view of next season's squad:

GK: Eriksson, Newman (Carson apparently going to St Mirren)

RB: L Smith, Freeman
LB: McMann
CB: Edwards, Mulgrew, Graham, Connolly (yup, still here)

CM: Butcher, Pawlett, Meekison, Mochrie, Glass
Wingers: Niskanen, Chalmers, Watson, Cudjoe, Fotheringham
FW: Watt, Clark, MacLeod

Don't think I've missed anyone.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Be amazed if Butcher is still here next season.

Too much commotion

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Shame to see benji go but not wholly surprised.

Interesting with mcdonald. Thought he had some really good moments but equally, some games where you didn't see him so much.

Big transfer window incoming.  Hoping we scout further afield than the Scottish leagues. We've looked at the finish league but must be other 'bargain' leagues. St mirren have scored a good few Irish lads for instance

Re: Summer Transfer Window

I'm the opposite Tangy I hope we pick up the best from the domestic market with one or two from abroad.

Under the current recruitment team they have hardly got the greatest of records going further afield.

Busy time ahead and hopefully we get the squad in for the start of the season and not rushing about on the 31st August trying to strengthen.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

A wee mistake there. Should have said 'just' the Scottish league.

We are meant to be doing recruitment differently, so would. Like ti see some new names who aren't the usual.... (what's Billy Mehmet up to these days 🤣)

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Just looked at the Facebook message from united thanking the players... there's a pick of mcnulty but not Levitt..  a mistake or a sign 🤔

We should too imo.

He blows hot and cold.

25 years old and (i think) approaching the finished article.

Think we can do a bit better, good player as he is.

He's got pretty decent stats for the season when you compare to the much vaunted Ryan Kent for instance. He's certainly better than what we've been managing with.

How many wide players do you think we have coming in and who do you fancy?

I have no idea how many we will bring in.

I'd like two wide players though. So, we have a different way to play going forward next season. As it stands 4-4-2 is a formation we just don't have the squad to ever succsessfully utilise. I'd like to change that next season.

As for signings, i will leave that up to the highly paid Sporting Director.

Though on a personal level i would have liked to have seen Scott Tiffoney signed at left wing.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Heard Bruce Anderson from Livi also a target but few would be needed.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Wingers in the Scottish game that would improve us imo would be Forrest and Frazer Murray at Kilmarnock.

Really want to see us bring in a big guy to play up top to bully other sides centre half's a Jon Daly type.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Priorities

1)Goalie
2) CDM of the quality of Fuchs
3) No.9 That can hold the ball up and link play
4) We will also need cover or indeed a LB now

Lesser priority

CM
Attacking Midfielder
If we sre going to play with a back 4 we will need wingers also

We have improved every season since Tony Asghar has been at the club, recruitment has been mostly spot on to apart from a few signings.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Butcher - don't know exactly what happened, but seems like he lost the place with Biamou.
Did he then tell Tam to go'n take a runner at himself and got personal ?
To me he's done his time and could, with a bit of man management be allowed back in the fold.
After all he did keep his on field angry man in check, on occasion under pressure (v Fun.support for one.)

If he's not disruptive - keep.

There's a whole lot more went on with Butcher than that mate, I'm not in possession of all the facts but it's nothing to do with falling out with Tam. More to do with infidelity involving our goalies gf and some other stuff too. By all accounts the whole squad want him gone

As I said mate, I'm not in the know but it seems the general consensus and yeah looks to be on his way out. Shame because I like him as a player and we will miss his aggressive side unless we can find a similar but better player with a cock that small he doesn't create any difficulties in the dressing room 🤣🤣🤣
