Not out of jail for me. Beat this shower 6-0 last time out, so this wasn't good enough in my opinion. Robbie's obsession with Pawlett and his absolute need to get Connolly back in the team has cost us. Just leave a winning team alone ffs.

Ah I see Sow is in for stick again despite being our best player in the first half. Having a go for the sake of having a go.

we were clearly watching different game or have a very different viewpoint.  Everyone is entitle to their opinion and in mine Sow adds nothing and I would have preferred Aperre up front with Sporle out wide.

So not having a go for having a go just expressing my point of view.

Sow best player on the park for us in the first half and it wasn’t even close.

That was pish poor but it’s always very hard to break down a team who sit with 10 men behind the ball.  Time wasting from the minute they scored.  Fuck them.

Thought Mochrie did well when he came on.  Hope he gets some more appearances between now and the end of the season.

We had a total of ONE shot on target when Sow was on. What exactly did he do to merit "best player on the park"...I am intrigued. The amount of wages spent on Sow and Pawlett and we have had the square root of fuck all in return. IMO.

Connolly’s played last 3 so weird to bring him in to, think it more bring Reynolds back in that I would question.

Morton should be embarrassed the way they played today, never came to play football at all, every man behind ball, such a tough watch, dare I say a player who would have helped us massively today would have been Mr Stanton.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Right aff to a Burns supper and night oot efter the gehm.

Eh was worried aboot Sow playin the day, but thought he did no bad, some his lay affs and passes were'na bad efter ah. Pity aboot the offside goal.

Think Morton should rebrand themselves as Rigor Mortis the day. Looked like half their players were daed

We musta had aboot 70% possession before they got the break. Daft phuckin goal to loss.

Oor difficulties in scoring come fae a number oe factors. Efter they scored, whenever we got possession, Morton put ah chunt ahent the ba and for great swathes oe the gehm, we were playin against 10 defenders. And TBH we couldna  break them down.

This probably had a bearing on our pace which was lacking. Fae the back to front. It was like a gehm oe join the dots watching the ba goin forward fae side to side.

Lastly, in the 1st half esp. Shanks and Sow were getting phuck-all service. Nae crosses inta the box and very little fa the mud, and phuck-all fae the twa centre halves. Ye could see Shanks comin back a few times, and trehin to start something aff in the midfield.

Considering we didna play oor best the day, it was a get oot oe jail card, thanks to a brah cross fae Smith and Lawrence of Arabia and Icy Tea getting baet.

MOTM for me Shanks. Pr1ck oe the day. The Dallas cowboy.

Shut the fuck up ffs . Today wasnt ideal far from it! But after the 6-0 game what did you expect them to do? Up to us to beat them. We wernt good enough today. Take the draw all day long.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Happy with a draw and increasing our lead at the top with one game less for our rivals.

The performance wasn't great, before the game I said I'd be amazed if Reynolds was chosen but maybe Watson has a wee niggle. Disappointed that Glass wasn't involved but he too might have had a problem.

Mochrie looked a very good prospect when he came on, and it's good to see young players coming through.

Only my opinion, but when we go up, only a few of these guys could be first picks if we are aiming, as the management have told us, to get into the European slots.

Two further points:

a) Andrew Dallas shouldn't be officiating at this level.

b) the crowd did well not to get on the players' backs.

Yip they just sat in but we were masters of that due to us constantly bringing the ball out from the back instead of passing or even going long at times.

The cross in for their goal was a cracker but we never gave up a got a fully deserved point.

Thought that Sproule was decent again when he came on.

he's not quite as quick but short sleeves today and gets wired in. An option from the bench until we sign another winger.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

I thought Sow had a decent game. His 1st touch puts some of his team  mates to shame. Having so much of the ball showed how poor some of the players are technically particularly the back 4.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Reading through this thread, and other online outlets it seems that the overall feeling is frustration about the game.

I ws very surprised at the line up for a start, if anything I would have expected the team that finished last Sunday to start.  Watson being dropped, unless he maybe had a knock, was a joke.

The first 10 minutes or so were great to watch, direct, attacking, fluid and with purpose.  In the few minutes before they scored, you could see though that we had become a bit relaxed and took our foot off the gas.  I cant remember exactly how they worked the ball down the wing to cross, but as soon as the ball was in the air you could see is was landing on the boy Orsi's head.

From then it was a total borefest of a game but you've got to give credit to Morton (in a tactical sense) that they done exactly what they were aiming to do.  And the longer they could keep it 1-0, frustration would kick in on and off the park and it did.  For the boys Booing at half time, get to phuck honestly.  Morton would have been lapping that shite up.

Anyone know if Harkes took a knock or if the change was tactical?

Second half was 45 minutes of the same side to side, back across, up the wing then either poor cross or try to pass through 4 Morton players.  McMullan was poor, but to be effective he needs room to play with and he just wasn't getting any space to try and run into.  I actually felt that Mochrie's introduction was exactly what we needed and know what, the young lad was the best player on the park once he was on.

Obviously we got the goal in the end and bar, what looked to me, a unbelievable save from McMullans shot - we'd be all having a slightly different argument today.  It was a horrible, horrible game of football but you simply cannot play football against a team set up the way Morton were.  Especially not with players at our level.  Some of the reactions I've seen online are phucking Celtic/Liverpool esque...yes we have a obvious issues with the squad and it wasn't bonny but you'd think we'd been royally pumped the way some boys are acting.  Better get used to it, cause any team coming to Tannadice now that's floating about the bottom half will be playing exactly the same game.

I thought Sow done enough first half and was unlucky with the offside.  I've not seen it since, but my instict was he was On.  Powers is a player but you can see he's not quite 100% and he struggled the longer the game went on.  Pawlett is done...bags of ability but his body just isn't up to it and he is never a CM in a million years...didna get that move at all.

The Ref had an absolute nightmare as well.  It's easy with my tangerine tints on but there were at least 2 clear handballs in the box...one in the first half at a corner, the morton boy phucking travelled wi the ball under his arm.  A couple of corners/throws went against us as well.  Moving forward, I think the players need to be at the Ref early about time wasting as well...how many times in the last few years have we seen opposition keepers at it, only to get collared at the end of the game.  Why the phuck only book the keeper for time wasting with 5 minutes to go when he's been doing it since 5 mintues in?  Clutching at straws I know but it was just one of those days where we were getting nothing and had to make our own luck.

We've not won this league yet and a few more games like yesterday where we don't score and that gives ICT/Ayr a wee boost and tests the mentality and strength of our players.

On another note, was good to see everyone join in with the applause..the Morton fans did, and I noticed the coaching staff did also.

Re: Dundee Utd v Morton 25/01/20

Yesterday wasnt a game of football. So I'm trying not to get to worried about it. Being 18 points clear at this stage of the season is realistically un-catchable so games like that are going to happen. Arbroath next week wont be too different to be honest so its another test. Our margin for error is so massive that a couple of weeks of 'negative' results wont hurt us at all. As long as we get back on form eventually.

A big thing to remember was the consistency of our spine in the massive winning run we put together:

Benji
Watson Reynolds
Butcher
Clark
Shankland

50% of the players in that spine were absent yesterday and we missed them all. It takes time to re-adjust to a new formation and partnerships so I think we'll get back on track.

I do think a winger is a must though. Even a loan. Im sure we'll be looking at that.
