Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Have to say I am concerned about our defence, but this has been the case for months , years even ;).

However I suppose....

Watson..............Morris......Fojut...........Townsend

or

Spittal..............Morris...............Fojut...........Townsend

sounds not too bad. Still concerned about this though. Completely different set up fae last season, might work but we still need defenders signed.

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Am looking forward to this game. Should be a cracking atmosphere. Think it will be a tight game, going for a 2-1 utd win with Armstrong to score the winner.

Been a while since we won at aberdeen, so we're due a win haha!

Was at that game, the only time I've seen Utd win at aberdeen in the games I've been to there.

2 quickfre goals by jimmy gomis and casalinuovo to win the game but the weather that day was bloody awful, gale winds and non-stop rain! Was drenched through to the skin after the game but the win more than made up for it haha!!

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Would have Telfer in midfield with Paton/Rankin to help move the ball quicker with Armstrong/Ciftci/GMS up top. Armstrong can drift off the right as they won't be doubling up much down the left.

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Hope we do the biz but with so many players injured / not 100% I just cant see it espcially with them up to speed already. I'll get right behind them but more in hope than expectation.

Too much commotion

I hope we see Connolly come off the bench if we need some more attacking impetus.

He's been the real dark horse of our pre-season.

Looks ready to enhance the first team now.

i think he could make the same impact that Gauld did in his first season..

Watched him up in forfar and he has something special

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Very, very positive from the commenators on the radio about our team. Defence was solid and this is great news indeed. Slight negative about Rado coming for crosses apparently, flapping and making poor decisions re same, although sounds like he had good saves also.

Dow, GMS and Erskine , 3.0 at the sheep tip, top of the league and the SSBs are bottom.

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Great start, clean sheet and 3 different scorers, can't ask for much more

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Only downside is GMS going off injured.Let's pray it's no too bad as he really makes us tick when he's on his game.

Also Armstrong got subbed fairly early.Though maybe that was just tactical.Hope so.

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Defence was outstanding. Watson did well to last 90 minutes even though he got roasted by Pawlett a few times 2nd half. Rado was garbage, again. We were more workmanlike than last season but still carved them open a lot. Shifty should have put the game to bed early doors in the 2nd half. Overall, a cracking day out!

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Just back from Pityoddie.

Great result. Agree with lifesanocean. Collectively defence was better than I've seen in months. Played very well. Stretch got replaced by Erskine very early in 2nd half. Hope he's OK. Sorry to see GMS hobblin back round, who was replaced by Super Mario, which moved Shifty onto wing where seemed to go out of the game a bit.

Dow goal a sort of tippy in across the goal caused by bad defending at the left of their goalmouth, GMS goal kinda similar but from the right. Clangers partly to blame for both. Erskine goal a great wallop following pass by Super Mario.

TBH Aberdeen didn't play that bad, but their finishing was mince. Don't think they had 1 attempt on target.

Criticism.  Only a couple. Shifty a couple of times should've passed going towards goal but didn't. Rado 2 or 3 times tried to clear with a punch, that didn't work out, but 1 improvement was him throwing the ball out after collecting it from catches/attempts. Paton needs to pass a bit quicker, also too many pass backs from Paton and not enough forward. Queue the shotgun crew.

Don't get this like, clean sheet but Rado was garbage, oh well can't please all the people all the time. Great performance,  well done United

Re: Aberdeen V's Dundee United

Maybe we got the clean sheet despite Rado though ?

I wasn't there so no gonna criticise, but read a few comments today saying he was back to being 'flappy'.

As been said m8, Aberdeen never had a shot on target, not even 1. Rado just happened to fau-pax some of the clearances from crosses/corners etc.
