team for the semi

------------Rado-------------
McGowan-Morris-Fojut-Townsend
--------Paton--Butcher-------
---GMS-----Telfer--Armstrong-
-----------Ciftci------------

if mcgowan is fit i'd throw him in.....paton with butcher compliment one another imo

Armstrong has pace to burn so let Telfer play in the centre...and Nadir....PLEASE show us what you can do

Re: team for the semi

Just noticed no Connolly in Stobes team, I'd start him ahead of GMS.

Re: team for the semi

How many players get on bench for League Cup?  5?

Re: team for the semi

Ive got about 5 permutations floating around in my head. I'll type them up later when I can get the wife and bairns off the pc.

Stobies team looks a goer btw.

Re: team for the semi

We could be 2-0 down with half and hour to play bud.

Biggest game of the season, best team out and first team to score wins IMO.

Re: team for the semi

Main decisions for me would be

GMS or Connolly?Tough one but i would go for GMS.

And if McGowan isn't fit enough who plays RB?Watson or Dillon?

Dillon maybe more defensively steady but Watson offers more getting forward.Watson also a 'bigtime' player and often rises to the occasion in European games,Dundee,Rangers matches.

Re: team for the semi

Agree, if Oz isn't fit then Dillon at RB.

Which looks like we're all agreeing on 10/11.

I think Connolly could put in a Gauld v Celtic Hampden semi type performance so I'd go with him ahead of GMS.

Its all irrelevant anyway as Jackie will pick the following:

Rado
Spittal
Butcher
Souttar
Dillon
Paton
Rankin
Erskine
Dow
Bowman
Anier

Re: team for the semi

Dillon for me bud. He's been playing regularly. All depends on McGowan's match fitness really.

Re: team for the semi

Much the same as Stobies team for me.

I don't want GMS near a starting slot now but Connelly was quite poor yesterday and GMS normally plays well against them, i'd put him straight against Hayes to stop him getting forward.

Re: team for the semi

Armstrong needs to be deployed in the central role of the three. Our best players need to be in their best positions. armstrong running at their central defence is a match winning scenario.

Re: team for the semi

I wonder what Jackies opinion on Dowser was yesterday? He gave him the full 94 minutes! So for that reason i wont bother to attempt to select his team. Whoever does play though will individually and collectively have to raise their game as Aberdeen WILL score given half the opportunities that Motherwell had yesterday. Still confident though 3-2 United after extra time

Re: team for the semi

I'd be delighted with Stobies team.  My thoughts were:
Rado
Dillon/McGowan
Morris
Fojut
Townsend
Butcher
Telfer
Connolly
Armstrong
GMS (on the LEFT)
Ciftci

This was the OH FUCK NO team.
Rado
Spittal
Morris
Fojut
Dillon
Paton
Rankin
GMS
Armstrong
Erskine
Ciftci

This is the 'so crazy it might just work' team:
Rado

McGowan/Dillon
Morris
Fojut
Townsend

Paton
Butcher
Rankin

GMS
Ciftci
Armstrong

TBH, who the hell knows what he'll play.

Re: team for the semi

Just listened to Jackie's judgement on the Zone, really not sure what to make of it tbh, some really strange comments IMO.

Anyway, this is the team I think he'll pick now:

Rado

McGowan
Fojut
Morris
Dillon

Paton
Rankin

GMS
Armstrong
Spittal

Ciftci

Re: team for the semi

Was just away to post that Jackie's Judgements are getting better and better.

And longer and longer, is 25 mins the new world record?

What were the strange comments?

Re: team for the semi

No sure Bugsy, just thought he was a bit funny about the changes, one minute it's you make changes depending on the opposition the next it doesn't matter who the opposition is or what they do he just concentrates on our team.

He threw the back six under the bus for their performance against St Mirren then critised fans for having a go at Paton and Rankin.

Inferred that he doesn't want the players to know who's going to be playing and the changes keep them guessing?

I had a shite day at work tbf, could just be me

Re: team for the semi

yeah, I think Rankin and Paton are starting after listening.
