After the game where Alsford played I don't think I went back to a Utd game for the rest of that season so I never saw Misse Misse for us (seen him for the Turks).

Anyway, Mathie gets the vote. Utter shite and a waste of an awful lot of money. Just shows that the Premiership aint all that.

I too felt a bit sorry for Mathie tbh.

Mind a game at Tannadice,Motherwell humped us (3-0 or 3-1 cannae even mind score now).Mathie missed about 3 absolute sitters and even every wee half chance seemed to fall to him and he just got more and more desperate and started snatching at things.One of his efforts hit the back of the East Stand and people were actually pishing theirselves laughing at how bad he was.That's when you know things are bad when anger turns to mocking laughter.Seen him a couple of weeks later (fully fit btw) in the Snug at 2.30pm drinking a pint of lager,not even in the squad.As he left the pub he wore the look of a man who knew his career was over.True story.

He gets my vote.What was his actual fee btw?My recollection was 750k (making him joint highest paid with Elvis),Arab Archive says 500k,Stobes says 600k.Either way,what a waste of cash.

Misse-Misse actually had a pretty decent debut (for the 1st 50-60 mins anyway) but after he failed to score his confidence visibly drained from him.His other appearances he looked like a pub player.Strange one.NOTHING seemed to go right on the transfer front at that time.And it pretty much stayed that way for the next EIGHT years (bar a few exceptions).

I remember Misse-Misse's debut too and remember him looking not bad as well, but never seen him afterward so never really knew why he was slagged off so much. This would have just been at the later end of Tommy's reign.

Felt sorry for Mathie too, but he was poor and even worse considering the price. It was all spend spend then to try and look good and keep up. Other teams got not bad guys, we got some amount of utter dross. Think it was £500k for Mathie if I remember right. Was still playing up until not too long ago for York I think.

So vote goes to Mathie.

Got to be Mathie, like several others around that period, was on paper a very good signing. Turned out to be the complete opposite, thinking back makes last night seem like a great game after all.

Tek think the fee was 500k, certainly wasn't as much as Pressley.
