Starting XI and formation for Friday nights league opener?
Offline

Only about 20 tickets left in George Fox for this one
Walton
Rawlins Iovu Forbes Ferry
Camara Tait Ageyi
Randall Metsoko Sapsford
1-1 (Shankland and Tait)
Offline

What I'd play:
Walton
Nammo
Esselink
Forbes
Ferry
Sevelj
Tait
Camara
Randall
Metsoko
Sapsford
I suspect it'll still be the team that started against Salford though which is fair enough. Ageyi has struggled pre season but has got enough credit in the bank. We'll get a fair idea if the two Aussies are up to it. Iuvo: never really sure what you are going to get from him.
Hopefully Leiper is on the bench. If we are still in the game with 20 minutes to go you have to put him on, the lift the place will get might actually make a real difference.

I'd go for:
Walton
Rawlins
Esselink
Forbes
Ferry
Tait
Sevelj
Agyei
Randall
Rose
Sapsford
I have this feeling, that is getting stronger by the day, that Goodwin is going to revert to a back 3 for the first 3 games, then back into a back 4 for the Derby.
Esselink and Iovu both starting with Forbes in a back 3. A midfield 3 and then Sapsford and Rose up front. I hope he doesn't. But I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Would get plenty stick if it fucked up, but would be seen as a genius move if we came out of all 3 with positive results.

Not a ticket left for the game. Watch out for those bastards in our end, most likely a few in the George fox anyway.

If I'm honest I'm worried. I think we look weak in the right back area and unsure of our best midfield. Camara was good v Salford but Agyei looks like his brain is still on holiday. Tait having to drop deep to play passes he should be making in the opposition half isn't helping my optimism either.
And although we look technically better with these players (something I've been moaning about nearly every week) I am not seeing the warrior spirit and bite that will be needed for a result in these first league games. That spirit shouldn't be underestimated because 9 times out of 10 it's what helps you get results in big games like the ones we've got coming up now.
Sorry for the negativity and hopefully I'm wrong.

This is a Rangers side who's marquee signings are Devlin and Shankland, there's nothing to fear, it's gonna be hard August, but the manager and players would get a lot of leeway if we didn't play the badge on their shirt and played the XI in front of them.
Scottish football in at it's weakest it's been for a long time, last season showed that, Hearts who where just a solid team with 2 or 3 players above decent, came within a whisker before shitting the bed.
We beat Celtic twice last season and should've beaten the Huns twice as well, just get tore in about these fuckers and see where it gets us.

I know you didn't quote me directly. But my comments about being worried shouldn't be misinterpreted as fear. I don't fear The Rangers at all. I just feel we're missing a couple of important ingredients at this early stage.
On the other hand if those 2 new strikers at Celtic get going there will definitely be a fear factor across Scotland. I watched Kasper Hogh quite a bit playing in Europe for Bodo Glimt and he's different class. I'm amazed a bigger club didn't take him, maybe we'll find out why. Hopefully we're playing them in the LC before they're up to speed.

--------------Walton
Rawlins Iovu Forbes Ferry
------Sevelj Tait Agyei
Randall Metsoko Sapsford
I've gone for Iovu over Esslink as Bert just doesn't have the pace and will automatically play a bit deeper which I think would cause us issues.
I've gone for Metsoko over Rose as I hope bringing Rose on in the second half with his energy and work rate might cause the Rangers defence a whole lot of problems.

Wasn't really a response to you, just how i feel when we face either of the OF, we give them too much respect and usually react than be proactive.

It's like radio silence before an all out assault in the night.
Makes me nervous but in a good way.
I've always hated what was Rangers.
Debts you say? We are a new club.
Trophies you say? We are still the same club.
And I've never liked Derek Ratboy McInnes.
Have we got enough to do this? Are we ready?
Do our new signings understand the pace and aggression needed?
This time tomorrow we'll be getting some answers.

If rumours are true
I think I’d maybe put Forbes to left back and bring Graham in to centre half

If he is brave he sticks Naamo in at LB and keeps Forbes inside. Will be an interesting one indeed.

Ferry starting.

HT 1-0
We're up for this battle.
My worries about bite were unnecessary. We have it.

By the way, that strip is an absolute classic 🧡

64 minutes 1-1 we've lost our intensity and the midfield looks shot.
C'mon Jim, changes needed.

2 points dropped? It was there for us.

Randall should do better, but plenty to be happy about, only one game, but fight, dig, pace, passion, played good stuff, weren't intimidated and bar mins 50 - 65 never he never let them dictate, i'd be at Ferry offering him an extra tenner a week just to see his contract out, reckon that wold do it.

Piss poor from Randall
Thought in spells tonight we were decent when we got the ball down and played through the lines. Need to do it more often and be a lot braver.
Ferry when he eventually goes is going to be a huge task to replace he’s head and shoulders above all our players.
Forbes and bert were good, Naamo for me currently is our number one right back- very early days for rawlins but think Naamo definitely gives us more.
Not sure I’m having Randall on the right either looks a bit lost- wouldn’t mind seeing him switching to the left occasionally- Bennie when he came on looked v promising

Ageyi looked a lot more like himself tonight- when he’s on it, nobody in the middle of park can get near him. He’s a very classy player but incredible defensively also.

A draw was the correct result.
The team is looking fairly positive, well organised and tactically flexible.
Forbes was M.O.M. For me . It’s great to see a defender who enjoys the physical side of the game.
The changes were made at the right time and helped us get back into the game after a ropey start to the 2nd half.
Overall a good start to the season , should be enough to keep JG in a job for another week,

Overall, happy with that.
Forbes MOTM. Bennie looked good too. Ferry will be a huge loss but we all knew that. Squad overall looks better than last year, reliable keeper helps.
