Going by what Alan Temple’s saying, JR seems keen to stay next season while he does his coaching badges.
Goodwin would make himself extremely unpopular if he decides against taking up this opportunity, and his stock ain’t exactly high as it is.

Give him a season as a squad man. We need a bigger squad next season and we need players like him who are good in the dressing room.
Then make him a coach next Summer when he likely retires.
We badly need a Striker coach in particular.

Yes. Stirton needs someone like JR to bring him on. He is going backwards. Always thought daly managed to get through to Goody somehow and turn the raw talent into a very good striker.

Bringing him off the bench for the last 20 mins every week would do just fine for us.

100% keep him.

Was delighted when we signed Russell, gave the place a real lift during a tough period but I wouldnt be offering a new deal. Whilst he'd be a great guy to have on the training pitch I would rather the wage was spent on someone who can make an impact on the pitch which I dont feel he has done in his admittedly limited appearances. If the wage wasnt too high and a coaching role could be looked at then I would be more willing to offer a deal.

I would keep him, and not for nostalgia reasons.
I've seen enough to think that with a pre-season he could probably still be an asset on the park, even if it is for only 45-60 minutes. More than that, I think a lack of experienced players in the squad was a good reason why we lost so many points from winning positions.
No doubt in my mind that this years team was probably technically more gifted than last years but only managed to finish 7th as it lacked the experience of players like Docherty, Gallagher, Holt and probably Dalby as well, who were used to scrapping in leagues where the quality was maybe lower but physically more demanding.
I'd be keen to resign Russell and bring in a couple more experienced players in their early 30's to develop this mentality in less experienced players. Boy's with 5-6 seasons playing good minutes in British leagues who have a bit of steel about them.

Keep him as long as it's a duel player/striker coach.
He was developed here when there was proper coaching and clearly much higher standards as well. Hopefully some of that experience can rub off.

Would be in favour of making Johnny a vice captain also.
