We are a decent CF, a ‘miles on the clock, CH and a competent RB short in my opinion.

Rawlins & Metsoko might still come good, but early signs aren’t great.

We have no real experienced old heads in the team that can mange the team on the pitch effectively.  When you're 3-0 down, a bunch of 23 year olds with 20-40 games of a decent level of first team experience aren't the types of player to pull you out the shite.

Yoro, Farrugia, Metsoko, Naamo, Camara and Bennie all have a lot to prove to the support.  We need them to perform week in week out, but they are only showing the occasion glimpse of what they can do.  That's simply not enough

Too much focus has been placed on buying players who have a resale value.  We really need an Andy Webster type that can play to a high standard and lead the team on the pitch.  Our club captain is struggling to get into the match day squad and he should be that kind of player and should be forcing his way into the team week in, week out.

Currently, the only out field players that I think that are good enough for United are

Walton
Ferry
Esselink
Forbes
Tait
Agyei

and maybe
Merghem
Iovu

The others haven't had a chance to prove themselves properly yet.

I think selling Sevelj is a mistake.

 
Fair points that I wouldn't disagree with.
Would just reiterate that while the jury's out on a few players it really is down to the coaching to get the best out of them.
Ross Graham is a good example, it wasn't too long ago that a fair amount of folk were raving about him and delighted he was made captain. Now there are doubts whether he can cut it at United. Surely it can't be so far one way or another.
The positions imo where there's plausible doubts in terms of ability in our squad are RB and striker. I believe we have a good squad everywhere else, certainly good enough for the Scottish Premiership.
Need our manager and coaches to show they believe and trust in those players. No more tombola selections or fallouts with certain players. Just run a meritocracy and show good man management.
That is the area where I have the most doubt about. Goodwin literally has zero excuses this season.

Our best bit of business this window is keeping Ferry. If we’re smart we get him in tomorrow, offer him a year’s extension at 5k a week, possibly with a a 5 figure signing on bonus, put in a release clause at say £1.5m in January, decreasing to £1m next summer. Everyone wins, Ferry gets a big wage increase and a get out clause that’s attractive to buyers, we hold on to our best player for at least another 6 months, possibly a season, and should still end up with a decent future figure, that although below his true value, means he doesn’t walk away for absolutely nothing.

We've got to break this model. Because at some point it's going to get us relegated. I'm all for mixing some foreign talent in with Scottish and academy players but it's too many players now who don't have the battling qualities needed.

Edit to add ....a high churn of players is only sustainable if you have a coaching team that can blend them into a successful side. We just don't have that.

Breaking the model of high annual churn is part of the aim of the transfer window just gone. We've brought in a number of players on 2 year contracts with options to extend.

 
I think the only one’s out of contract at the end of this season, not counting the loan players are, Esselink, Graham, Camara, Ferry, Farrugia and Miller Thomson. Might be missing a few, but the churn might not be quite as high next summer. I think that’s just football at this level now. Most teams are much the same.

It tells you it all when people are acting like Vicko was some long-serving stalwart of the club after spending two seasons here.

Quite a redundant comparison; they lost more players than us, and more important players. Additionally, we're +5, and they're +3 (departures/arrivals).
