I’m dreading this game. It’s hard to see where our next win is coming from.

If true and he's out on Saturday then your XI above is 100% what it needs to be.

I actually don't mind the look of that.

Goodwin will never play 442, sadly.

Re: Dundee United vs Motherwell - Saturday 13th December

If the lineups posted here were used on matchday I would get myself a ticket knowing we at least are looking to take the game to the opposition and fight back against our hopeless form. Despite our problems we do have some potentially exciting attacking players.
No chance though, Goodwin will be looking at ways to fit another defender into the side, sit back and watch Motherwell pass us
off the pitch again.

Richards getting binned already?
He's not done much wrong has he?
Did you catch any of these goalie blunders during Euro week?
Some of these boys are on £100k/wk plus.
As Dave himself said when trying to comfort Kuchi, you make 20 saves & one mistake - what do the fans remember?
Cut him a bit of slack else we'll be seen to be firing goalies faster than the Huns fire managers.

Did you not see St Mirrens 2nd goal?
A weak header straight at him and he couldn't hold it, palmed out to the middle of the 6 yard box.

Re: Dundee United vs Motherwell - Saturday 13th December

With apologies, posted this in the transfer thread by mistake when it should have been here.

Upping our game to get draws against better opposition but consistently losing to lower table clubs is a process that moves you down the table.
The worrying part is that some of those performances have been completely unacceptable. We need to throw in a victory or two but looking at the fixtures where is it coming? So it might as well be today.
Gallagher Graham and especially Kevin Holt marshalled that defence last season in a rock solid way. They didn't need much coaching and they were warriors you wouldn't fancy coming up against as a striker.
The defensive players we've signed have got worse as the season has progressed and that's a very bad sign. Youd just love to line up against Bert Iovu and KK  wouldn't you? After you pal! Want a shot at goal, aye on you go.
I'll be way out of position when you skin me so you better have the pace to get in on goal. Actually I do lads.
As many have said, when this happens you reset into a solid back 4
Will he do it? If he doesn't and we leak goals again today I think his stubbornness might be the end of him.

Personally I'd leave Iovu and Bert out, and partner Graham with Sam Harding in a 4. If not today for Sam, then what is the point. This is why you have a back up CB, he's a fan, he's one of ours, get him in there Goodwin.
Stop playing your fantasy football with Dundee United FC  and start dominating teams at home.

Re: Dundee United vs Motherwell - Saturday 13th December

I would be great if we can finally remember how we can play football and put on a performance, get a result especially for Jon the blind guy watching us through the VR headset, seeing us play for the very first time with his own eyes.

It would also be very Unitedy to lose 4-1 to 2 own goals, two howlers, miss 4 penalties and for Jon to see what we often suffer through.

Re: Dundee United vs Motherwell - Saturday 13th December

I’m not calling for his head or anything, but it fucking annoyed me hearing the delight in Goodwin’s voice in his interview after the game today. He had no intention of winning that game, he set up for a 0-0, and he got it.

Re: Dundee United vs Motherwell - Saturday 13th December

Surley to feck goodwin wasnt playing for a draw at home to motherwell but thats certainly what it looked like. A draw against a very in-form motherwell isn't a bad result but the lack of urgency from the players in the dying minutes is concerning to me. Time to give up on the moller experiment and start giving stirton a chance again, surley? Moller who has to be about 6 and a half feet tall yet wins next to nothing in the air(usually doesn't even make the effort to jump) Also isn't keen on pressing the keeper, a few times today he allowed him to walk to wherever he wanted outside the box before kicking the ball up the park. At least last year when VDS came on things happened, especially in the first half of the season, whether that was down to him or not its a fact and he was praised for it at the time. But moller i fear is 100% donkey, almost the new year and the only 'positive' thing i can remember him doing is rattling the bar after he was already flagged offside

I was writing my post before yours was posted. I didn't hear goodwins interview but thats certainly not surprising, it was there for us all to witness. What a way to spend your saturday, sitting in the freezing cold watching united park the bus at home to motherwell for the full 90. I could forgive him doing it in the first half against the wind but what we witnessed today isn't good enough. We only have 3 wins this season we should be trying our hardest to take all 3 points in this one, not relying on a bit of magic from fatah or something along those lines.

Re: Dundee United vs Motherwell - Saturday 13th December

Specifically on the not closing the keeper part, that was clearly a management instruction. I presume that Goodwin knows the keeper is so good with the ball that it's better to just close off his passing options rather than close him down directly. It did mean some pretty farcical scenes where he just strolled out from defence under no pressure.

Re: Dundee United vs Motherwell - Saturday 13th December

2 “shots” in the first half and 1 of those went out for a throw in.
Like for like subs so sure feels like he set them up for draw.
