Blows my mind there are people thinking we can do better than Murray. He is proven in Scotland and always had the pace and desire. As others have said, he is a lot better now than when he left us. Someone that has scored over 20 goals in the top league playing for the 2nd worst team is very unusual in Scotland.
Kind of highlights why we need to keep Goodwin - because he is proven as stable and has some good qualities. Anyone new is a gamble and many of our fans won’t be happy whoever it is. I remember many moaning when we were linked with McInnes in the past.

Really? Blows your mind? Why? Very limited player which his overall scoring record shows, has had poor seasons more often than good ones and isn't getting any younger. Also, how often do returning players ever work out for us?

I agree with ADS his scoring is average at best and at 32 his best days are long gone.
We need to be bringing in someone who sees his long term future at a bigger club than ours.
Hunger to succeed, pace, strength and with a bit about them, that's what I want to see.
No rush, let's take our time and get the right guys in the door.l

Interesting that his previous clubs United, Funsters & Hibees would all take him back now.
You got to wonder what's happened to him to be having his best season in 10.

Moult won't score 20 goals next season and should definitely be played more sparingly.

Don't get this argument.
1) Same age as Moult, who i'm guessing you are happy to keep
2) He's just had the season of his life and is 2nd top scorer in the country. He's literally at his peak and is fitter than ever.

I think we should cast the net a bit wider, but we're a newly promoted team, we might just have to accept than guys like Murray are all we can attract / afford.
I've also seen folk go on about his re-sale value, who cares? Re-sale should only really come into play if we're paying a fee.
Short term we need guys to ensure we stay up and compete, if that means a few solid senior pros are favoured over younger more risky players then so be it.

Moult is also proven at top flight level and is a better player than Murray. Maybe they could play together who knows? But my post was mostly to point out that it's not really mind blowing to be thinking better than Simon Murray.

As far as I can see it's all just fans speculating anyway, has the club even got any interest in Murray?

Moult has signed a new deal, that's where we are. I wouldn't have kept too many from last season but understand the logic of retaining some continuity in the team bond from last season. Moult was one of the better performers last season so no issues.
Watt was also doing well when he joined from Motherwell, it means the square root of SFA.
We have our experienced pros right up the spine of our side, I just want Goodwin to go out and bring in similar strikers that he did at Aberdeen. Won't be easy but Simon Murray ain't the answer.

Unless he's improved four fold I don't want Murray back. Just don't think he's a good footballer. If we were looking for a headless chicken then I'd prefer we went for a younger version.
At no point last season did I think that Murray would be the solution to any of our striking problems. Granted we've no pace up front, but similarly neither do we have the type of player who could benefit from the pace of others. We don't break lines, we don't play into channels, we don't play it over the top. Maybe if we had a Murray type player we would, but I just don't think that is Goodwin's game.
If he comes along and we get a season and double figures out of him I'll be the first to congratulate him, but we've got to be trying to bring in better footballers than Murray.

Slow news day, they've trawled through forums and found nonsense like this in the thread about our proposed new keeper.

Well I’d rather have Murray than Stevie May that’s for sure.

Expecting united to sign boys of the quality of miovski and Duk is purely not going to happen. The dons spent BIG....
According to transfermarkt miovski was 650k, Duk was 470k. Not a chance we are spending that. You may say there are free deals to be done but still - wages will reflect the lack of transfer fee. It's a system completely weighted in the players favour.
The club were slated for spending big money previously to make an assault on Europe which failed. We have to live within our means while aiming for long term growth. This seasons income is still going to be controlled by the amount of money we took in for winning the championship (although incomes from crowds/hospo/advertising will be up)
If we can stay away from a relegation scrap and get to a cup semi final, the season will be judged as a success. Sure we can hope for more but dangerous to expect it in my opinion.

2 year extension agreed with Ross Graham.
I think every United fan will be happy with this news.
Certainly proved me wrong towards the end of last season, hopefully the lad kicks on now.

Very happy with this news.
So, that's us re-signed Moult, Holt and Graham.
Just waiting on news on Cudjoe.

I think we are just playing the Lewis Neilson game (correctly this time) with Cudjoe.
Young Miller T was the young player who I think was most impressed with last season, would like to see that boy sign up next.
Following that one or two new faces before the players return for pre season otherwise we will have a 5 aside team against Brechin😀
