Souttar

A great talent.

Not long turned 18 years old.

But at times is being hung out to dry at Centre half.

Even Narey started out at DCM,and so should he.Callum Butcher has profited massively by the decision to move him there for the time being.Your mistakes simply aren't punished so severly in that position if you err.

What is totally pissing me off tonight though is several Utd fans on social media almost blaming the kid or making him some kind of scapegoat for our loss today.

Morris has made 4 or 5 mistakes this season.Fojut has been louping in the past 2 or 3 games.Townsend decent going forward, but we often concede when he's playing in the back 4.Rado fluff's the 1st goal today.Dillon by all accounts had a shocker too. These are very experienced players who have played all over Europe.

Bottomline is we win as a team,we LOSE as a team.

Criticism of almost every mistake this young lad makes and constantly highlighting it is fucking poor form.

Re: Souttar

Everybody struggled yesterday not just Souttar. The laddie was really targetted by Aberdeen yesterday though. I'd play him in midfield or at right back.

Too much commotion

Re: Souttar

While he was poor yesterday, the criticism of Souttar is way OTT.
He was no worse than Fojut yesterday ( who btw is not this big brutish solid centre half that seems to get made out),
He was no worse than our midfield who didn't pick a runner up all day.
He was no worse than our LB who is not proving to be a great defender TBH
He was no worse than our front 4 who were devoid of ideas for the most part.

While not doubting for one minute that Souttar can play Centre mid, for him to develop into the top CH he has the potential to be, that's where he has to play, even if that means some harsh lessons for him to learn from like yesterday.  It's only a couple of weeks ago he dominated Sutton and people were raving about how good he was, massive over reaction from some.

He's played 40 games for us now, all bar 1 at CH, he's just turned 18.  How many other players in Europe have played that many top team games at his age, never mind in such a crucial position?

He must be doing something right.

He was excellent, particularly in the first half.

Re: Souttar

I though he was good yesterday.  When he moves forward with the ball and gets his head up he looks like he could cut a team open with a pass at will.  I was amazed the way Celtic kept standing off him.  Be interesting to see how he copes when teams cotton on to this and press him though (in much the same way as they do when he plays at centre half).

Probably just a wee lack of match sharpness.

Hardly played since December last year.

Midfield should be built around him imo.

Not alone on that score though is he?  Muirhead was breathing out of his arse after 50 minutes. Erskine and Telfer were too after an hour.  Bizzare how Spittal who waas playing well (yes I said it) and looked by far the fittest of our front 4 got hooked whilst the two who were struggling for fitness stayed on the park.

The fitness levels are shocking at the club.  When was the last time we were piling on the pressure in the last 10 minutes??? (the Cup Semi?)  Under Levein and the first two years under Houston we scored loads of late goals and used to run the legs off of teams.

Even last season as well mate. I remember during that run of incredible football we went behind or teams equalised a couple of times (Killie in the cup and Thistle at home spring to mind, I'm sure there were others) and just thinking, 'No worries, we'll still run over the top of them'. And we did. Bombarding teams for 90 minutes, pressing high up the park, basically bothering the life out of other teams. Scoring goals late on, and just as often flying out the traps and killing games in the first 20 minutes.

What happened? This is the biggest concern for me. It's gone from proactive to passive. The successful teams in this league are the ones with high energy who impose themselves on the game and dictate it. We never do that now.
