Loan Watch 23/24

On Saturday (26/8) in Scottish League One, Lewis O'Donnell played the full 90 minutes in midfield for Kelty Hearts. It was a disappointing day for the Fifers however, as they lost 1-0 away to Stirling Albion. Kelty go down to 5th in the table.

Miller Thomson never featured for Montrose (injured).

Re: Loan Watch 23/24

Yesterday, (Saturday 2/9/23) Lewis O'Donnell played the first 57 minutes for Kelty Hearts in their home 1-1 draw against Annan Athletic in Scottish League One. He played in left midfield and received a yellow card during the match. Kelty remain in 5th place in the early days of the 23/24 season.

Also in League One -

Miller Thomson played the entire 90 minutes in Montrose's fine 3-2 away win in Dumfries against Queen of the South. Thomson played on the right of a 3 man midfield in a 433 formation. Montrose are now up to 7th.

Leading League One in the early days of this campaign are Falkirk for whom Layton Bisland was a late 87th minute substitute in the Bairns 0-2 away win in the Capital against Edinburgh City.

In the Scottish Championship -

Logan Chalmers played the entire 90 minutes for Ayr Utd away to Arbroath. It was a disappointing day for 'the Honest Men' however as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat. This defeat has them second bottom of the division (9th) in what has been a surprisingly poor start by the men from Ayrshire.

Lastly, for this week and not 'loan' related but Ilmari Niskanen played the full 90 minutes for Exeter City on the right wing (in a 343) in the 'Grecians' 0-1 away win at Burton Albion. Exeter currently sit top of English League One after an impressive start to the campaign.

One other thing to mention is i noted the crowd at that game was under 3k (2,613 to be precise).

Over 8k at Tannadice for Utd v Airdrie by comparison. Sometimes we put our game down too much.

Re: Loan Watch 23/24

In Scottish League One, two Utd Academy loanees came up against each other yesterday (Sat, 23/9/23).

Lewis O'Donnell starting in the right of midfield for Kelty Hearts in a 4231 formation at home to Falkirk.

It was a rather disastrous day for the men from Fife though, as they suffered a 1-5 humiliation against 'the Bairns' for whom Layton Bisland was a late 83rd minute sub, replacing Finn Yeats at Right Back.

Falkirk lead the Division on goal difference (ahead of Hamilton Accies), in the early days of the season.

Kelty Hearts go down to 7th outta 10.

Also in Scottish League One, on Saturday (23/9/23) -

Miller Thomson won MOTM and continued to gain high praise from the supporters of Montrose FC as they registered a 1-0 home win against Striling Albion. Thomson playing in the attacking No.10 role for Montrose who now move up to 3rd in the table.

In Scottish League Two -

Rory MacLeod started the match for Forfar Athletic and helped them to a 0-2 away win at Stranraer. He didn't play as a Striker however, rather on the right of a 3 man midfield in a 4231. He was subbed off after 78 minutes.

Forfar move up to 7th.

Re: Loan Watch 23/24

1) Scottish Championship on Saturday (30/9) Logan Chalmers played the full 90 minutes for Ayr Utd. The match ended in a disappointing 2-1 reverse however to Raith Rovers. The 'Honest Men' have had a poor start to the campaign and sit in 8th place on just 6 points.

2) Scottish League One (30/9) Layton Bisland was an unused substitiute in Falkirk's 3-2 home win against Montrose in Grangemouth. The Bairns remain top of the division on goal difference, just ahead of Hamilton Accies.

3) Scottish League One (30/9) Miller Thomson did not feature in Montrose's match day squad in their 3-2 away loss at Falkirk. Presumably injured, given his recent MOTM appearances and goals for the 'Gable Endies'.

4) Scottish League One (30/9) Lewis O'Donnell played the full 90 minutes in the right of a 442 for Kelty Hearts. It was a successful day for the Fifers as they comfortably disposed of Marvin Bartley's, QOTS. They now creep up to 4th in what is a very competitive division already.

5) Scottish League Two (30/9) Rory MacLeod started (not as a Striker, but ) on the right hand side of midfield in a 4231 for Forfar Athletic as they drew 1-1 away to East Fife. MacLeod was subbed off after 73 minutes.

Yesterday in the SPFL Trophy -

Lewis O' Donnell played the full 90 for Kelty Hearts in the right Centre Mid position of a 442. It was a bad afternoon for the Fifers however as they were beaten 4-1 away to Morton in Greenock. O'Donnell was booked in the match.

Miller Thomson played the first 73 minutes on the attacking left position of a 433 for Montrose, but the Gable Endies succumbed to a 3-1 defeat away to Raith Rovers.

Layton Bisland started for Falkirk at Right Back once again and played the first 76 minutes as the Bairns kept a clean sheet and registered a 1-0 home victory over Championship side Queens Park.
