Going back to academy players, it seems with the modern day emphasis on every team wanting to play possession Pep-ball, tikki-taka whether they have the players to do it or not, is breeding big batches of technically gifted, slightly built footballers.
They all can play anywhere across the front or midfield but are not masters of any one position.
What happened to getting the big strong powerful laddie that had a bit of skill, wasn't afraid to lash one towards goal or put his head in where it hurts.
When did Scotland last produce a old fashioned centre forward?

On the game, i've seen plenty play down the performance as it was Arbroath.
Potential banana skin, negotiated with minimal fuss, skill, effort, application all that was missing for large parts of last season.
I liked that when the changes were made, he pretty much kept the backline and centre midfield intact so the young lads were able to come on, play with a bit of freedom and Arbroath weren't allowed to get a sniff really, kept it solid.
Bonus point for the weather, it was positively balmy, in Arbroath!
